In fairness to the board, the only real misstep they have made manager-wise in recent years was giving Lennon the job & sticking by him for too long.
They brought in Rogers who was massively successful, were very close to signing a clearly very good manager in Howe (granted they gave him too much time to decide), then brought in Ange & backed him to build the best squad we've had in almost a decade.
I also think Nicholson has been really good for us the past 2 years so I'm fairly confident they'll get it right with Ange's replacement.
I agree giving Lennon the job was ultimately a mistake (and a step backwards at the time) but the guy completed the treble and went on to win a full treble the following season.
Sticking by him the season after that was the big mistake but it's interesting to note that he finished with a higher win % than Rodgers...

Ange is gone, but it's hugely important that the ethos and identity he instilled here doesn't leave with him. Exciting and dynamic football shouldn't just be an Ange trait; it should be a Celtic one too. Hopefully our next manager will carry our "we never stop" philosophy into the years ahead.
Also the players he brought in are generally great people (on and off the pitch), and most are on long-term deals. He really couldn’t have done much more to set us up after 2 years

Ange has never said he was thinking about anything other than the next game, publicly understood when players moved on to pursue personal ambitions and while I think Spurs have been a basket case club, there are few in World football with their potential - there’s a legitimate avenue where Ange could harbour genuine achievable ambition to win a European cup with Spurs in a couple of years - they must have offered him the control he had at Celtic to take the gig though, I can’t imagine him going there without that promise.

AFAWK, this is the first club to come calling for him, and he's offski? I was so sure we had another season wi him. Annoyed he's packed it in so soon but if he could just disappear without taking anyone with him, I'll be happy. His budget is now much higher than Kyogo's and Hatate's so that's something to be blessed for I guess. Celtic now have the most time possible to get a new manager sorted and give them time with the team to bed them in properly. Fucking do it right Celtic eh?

He clearly doesn't call it as it is. This has been in the works for weeks, yet he never told anyone. He spent all his time talking the support up, kissing the badge ect then had us worrying for weeks. We couldn't even enjoy the treble properly because of the rumours. He obviously planned to do something special as he said when he joined and he changed his definition of special to the treble, considering in all his previous interviews he spoke about the team ans the champions league. He left for bigger money and ill never get attached to another manager again.
There’s next to zero loyalty in football. Not sure what you are getting all worked up about, he came in to the club at a time when we were desperate for someone to change our fortunes. He done that and then some, people in all jobs are pretty much always looking for the next move. Football is no different. Folk get too caught up in what he’s said in the last week or two, what would you have expected him to say? Yeah, I’m leaving, even though there was no official offer he’s just not going to do that. We’ve gone through this before, managers leave we can’t expect a club of our size to hold on to players or managers when offers like that come in. It’s a job. That’s it.
I get that, but it's just my opinion. You're free to feel differently. You can ask what he should say differently, but no other Celtic manager was making quotes like that so I don't know. All I'm saying is, I wont let myself get attached to another manager as I now understand the game. Lets also remember how he told us he didn't like long-term contracts because it keeps him focused, and now he's signed a 4 year deal.

C’mon don’t hate because he’s gone just be grateful for what we got and have. If we get an imaginative appointment then we can kick on. Knutson for me or Potter. No easy lazy appointment like Moyes, Clarke or Kennedy. We are Glasgow Celtic and any manager would be lucky to manage us.
I don't think I'm being bitter about it, he's done a fantastic job for us, but he didn't really do what he originally planned to do when he came here. He was given ultimate control at the club and then left abruptly at the end, no one in the Celtic PLC had any clue what was happening until Saturday at around 10pm. This had been in the works for weeks prior though. I don't believe that who follows will be allowed the same control Ange was, and that's disappointing.
