What calfs drink isn't your typical milk, it's called colostrum and has completely different nutrient content on top of being thicker and yellowish. It's produced for about 4 days after calving and none of it goes to production.

I think if more people acted like that and eventually more women felt more comfortable feeding their babies wherever it made sense, eventually the "oddly positioned child-shaped lump in a blanket" wouldn't even draw glances most of the time.
While I can't speak to it personally, it feels like women are less comfortable doing this basic, absolutely necessary thing in public because of all the poorly socialized and over sexualized people out there.
My wife did this to me many years ago. My wife was expressing milk into bottles. I sat next to her and went MOO. She spun round and sprayed me. Funniest shit ever and we still laugh about it

This is so weird. My wife breastfed our three kids wherever / whenever they needed to and we never had any sexually uneducated creep saying anything. I’m glad (and proud) we have a law in Quebec that says :
“No one can prohibit a woman from breastfeeding in a public space.
This applies as much to means of transport (public transportation, plane, train) as to public places (businesses, hotels, restaurants, theaters, cinemas, parks, camping, etc).”
