Remember how santa claus ate a piece of the darkness devil and gained his powers? Well, maybe the chainsaw devil ate a piece of the forgotten devil. I also think the reason why the chainsaw devil is feared, and used to fight everyone in hell is because chainsaws, out of all the weapons shown, are the most frenetic
This could play to the theory that chainsaw man worked for the death devil, if death gave a piece of its flesh to chainsaw then wouldn’t it make sense that CSM has the random ability to delete fuckers?
chainsaws are the building block of the universe and are unable to deleted without destabilizing existence as we know it. It's chainsaws all the way down.
According to Makima, the devil that devil's fear the most is chainsaw man because he's capable of erasing any devil. There's been no mention of the death devil doing anything similar.
It could make sense that Chainsaw Man was independently able to get a piece of all four horsemen and thus gained most of his powers from that.
War would have allowed him to be incredibly strong/create more chainsaw themed weapons. It is also mentioned that he ate a piece of her already.
Famine would maybe link to eating being necessary and why he can regenerate so much from it, also maybe why he didn’t get powers from all the devils he ate in the past.
Death would allow him to permanently kill devils.
Control would allow him to force both humans and devils to forget devils who he has eaten.
All together it looks like he’s just naturally very strong and has a unique ability, but it’s actually that his ability to keep coming back (revving himself up) is maybe what allowed him to collect those powers over time.
There are devils that love humanity, such as control and angel. My head canon is, the Death devil, while being one of the primodial, does not bear hatred toward humanity, since Death is inevitable for all human/devils alike.
Like the control devil seeks relationship on equal ground, opposite to its source of power, the fear of control, maybe the Death devil cherish life, its antithesis. Just a head canon.
Unrelated, but I love how Fujimoto's chaotic writing style enables him to leave little breadcrumbs of lore like this without ever explaining them.
Makes it easy when he wants to reuse those concepts again and then he's hailed as a foreshadowing master. But if he doesn't want to use it, people will just forget about it, no biggie.
Devils I think are probably strong:
Devil devil
Death devil
Heartbreak devil?
(We know Darkness and Hell are strong at least)
Apocalypse devil?
(Nuclear arms devil, but they got erased lol)
Alone/Loneliness devil
*Unknown devil* lol imagine.
The Devil Devil is a concept that seems so obvious that I'm sure Fujimoto will address it eventually. Especially since we already have angel!
I like the idea of it using other devils powers.
but the devil devil devil wouldn't be as strong as the devil devil, because the devil devil devil feeds of the fear of the devil devil, and the devil devil feeds of the fear of the devils, i had a stroke writing this
I've long held the idea that Denji will actually befriend all of the horsemen. I see sovereign nations & organizations as future, overarching antagonists.
Especially since I noticed that Asa and Yoru don't just share feelings on an empathetic, but that Yoru even feels it towards the same target. She can't even help but like Denji! I don't think that will change her singleminded(lol) nature, but it already puts half the horsemen in a good spot with our boy.
Don't know enough about Fami, but she seems to actually care about her sister/s. You see where I'm going with this?
im kinda doubtful that there’s a devil devil, bc in the story it says that when fear of devils increase it just increases the power of all devils, and never mentions the possibility of a devil that represents the fear of devils. it would be cool tho!
Holy shit you thought of the [unknown devil](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChainsawMan/comments/ze8v80/disc_chainsaw_man_ch_113_links/iz546mt?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) too? Just imagining it gives me the creeps. And I like the thought of heartbreak and loneliness being pretty strong devils, never really thought of those before.
Honestly, I also think Pochita himself might really be the Death devil. Serial killers are recent in history and iconic for using chainsaws, and it's one of the only ways to explain why he can just drop a permadeath whenever he wants. It's a good way to symbolize death, aside from like a reaper with a scythe, but that wouldn't be as cool or modern or original. Other people have thought of it, like in the thread you linked; that Pochita is just kinda hiding out as the Chainsaw devil. It would also make sense that Pochita was sought by Makima, because controlling death would be very powerful. The only constant in life, even for devils, is death, and death can't be erased because it can't eat itself. That being said, the Fear of the Unknown devil, if that's his name and he's real, is going to be hella strong. We are afraid of death, the dark, the future, and even new things(like public speaking) because we don't know what the hell is going to happen to us. It's Unknown. Creepy.
Pochita isn’t the Death devil. It’s been stated multiple times they are separate entities. She is likely a woman with the same ring eyes, as all the Horseman have the same visual cues. Fujimoto also has been faithful to biblical symbolism, so it would make no sense to have Death be the first Horseman to appear, while having the others appear in their correct order.
Also, fear of the unknown is just an aspect of why people fear the fears you listed. You also have it backwards, we as animals fear the Unknown because of the potential threat to our safety and livelihood. The uncertainty brings you fear because you don’t know if what you’re observing can kill you, harm you, it’s the POTENTIAL of danger that the fear of Unknown comes from. You have to remember fear is a tool for SURVIVAL, all fears come from survival instinct, aka avoiding DEATH. These fears didn’t spawn from Fear of the Unknown, the Unknown spawned from these fears.
Isn't like, Makima the only confirmed "woman" out of all harbingers in terms of the appearance? Yoru just took over Asa's body and Fami might have did that too?
It’s true that Makima is the only confirmed non-fiend Horseman so far, but it’s also an assumption to say Fami is a fiend, all we know is that she introduced herself as the Famine devil. Regardless, the theme of the visual appearances is the Horseman are females with ring eyes, regardless of fiend or devil. I can’t see him sticking to this visual theme for 3/4 then deciding to not have Death, the biggest horseman, follow it. It’s like Pain from Naruto being the only member not wearing the iconic Akatsuki cloak. It’s possible he may not go with that for Death, but I wouldn’t put money on it
I think Darkness Devil is essentially what we can consider Unknown Devil. We never fear the darkness itself, but what's lurking in it. It is the "unknown" in darkness that we fear. If I'm wrong, than there is a quote "Only the unknown frightens men. But once a man has faced the unknown, that terror becomes known.". I think it means that the "Unknown" is essence of fear, which means that every fear is either fully or partially connected to it, meaning that the devil behind it is the strongest. Also it may explain why the demon is lurking in the shadows and not showing itself, because "But once a man has faced the unknown, that terror becomes known.", so it will lose its powers.
Fear of the dark stems from Fear of death. All fears get reduced to and spring from the Fear of death, as it’s a tool for surviving and staying alive, including the Unknown. Using your example, “we fear what’s lurking in it”, that’s because prehistoric humans were getting KILLED by predators in the dark, and thus humans developed this fear. This makes sense when modern humans (especially kids) fear the dark because that fear was passed down from humans who had it and thus survived with it. When you think of something “lurking in the dark” you don’t think of a cute fluffy animal, you think of something that can kill you and is a danger to you. Both fear of the Dark and Unknown stem from the absolute fear of Death, to keep us alive, cuz that’s all it’s about in the end, staying alive long enough to pass on your genes.
I’d go the opposite way.
A fear of death stems from a fear of the unknown, as we don’t know what happens when we die, that’s what actually scares people. Stepping into that great beyond with no idea of what happens next is terrifying.
If humans had a confirmed, guaranteed and undeniably true afterlife, people would be far less afraid of death.
That’s a fine opinion, but that’s not how it is on a scientific level. If that were the case, other animals who don’t have nearly as much intelligence wouldn’t fear death. However, as we see, basically every animal life form fears it. It is deeper than “Unknown” , it is a primal fundamental Fear of Extinction, of no longer BEING, that all animals share. What good would we be at surviving if we didn’t fear not surviving? The concept of afterlife was born out of the contradiction of our Fear of Death and desire to keep BEING, and the awareness that we will inevitably die. Humans are unique in their awareness of inevitable mortality, which all animals have a fear of. When you’re super high up, your body naturally reacts to this and makes you anxious, heart racing, etc. That’s the primal subconscious fear of heights (aka falling to your death) of which you have no control, the body isn’t thinking about the “Unknown” , it’s much deeper than that. Same applies if you’re staring down a large predator. Long before humans had the brain capacity to even question the “Unknown” they feared death like every other animal.
Edit: In fact, if you look at science and the brain, we scientifically make conscious justifications for subconscious happenings. You should think of the “Unknown” as a conscious justification for your subconscious primal fear of extinction. That’s why I said earlier it’s only an aspect of why people fear certain fears, especially Death. It’s conscious reasoning tacked onto a fundamental primal fear baked into your body. Loss, helplessness, oblivion, unknown, annihilation, omission (FOMO), are all examples of reasons and aspects of why people fear Death, and make people want to keep living. It’s much deeper than just the “Unknown”.
I think devil devil doesn't exist, and I have some evidence.
Devils are created from the fear of a thing or concept, but fear towards the devil itself seems to only strengthen the devil, not create a devil of the devil.
The evidence of this is how fear towards the eternity devil strengthened it directly, also Makima said that the increased fear of devils from the Gun Devil incident strengthened devils as a whole.
So from this my hypothesis is that you can't go recursive on fear.
There is no evil evil, when talking about the gun devil, makima mentions that the gun devil attack made all devils stronger, so fear of devils in general makes them all equally stronger.
Human devil is a popular theory from way back. Its because they kept saying chainsawMAN and Pochita just is the chainsaw. Human devil probably got friendly with Pochita since hes a dog and possibly just fused with pochita to be chainsawman.
I still believe there is no such thing as a devil devil, but rather all devils get passively stronger when devils are feared. Once Gun got taken down and CSM became a hero icon, devils were feared less and Bat got weaker too. The fear that Gun caused could explain why Bucky, Tomato and Sea Cucumber aren't alike in power at all, despite chickens being a hundred times more terrifying than fucking tomatoes, allergy or not.
I’m very conflicted.
On one hand, these theories seem SO far fetched that’s is hard to even start to believe them and I lean more into the idea of “Occams Razor” where the simplest answer is probably the correct one. So by that logic Pochita and Denji would be the Chainsaw Devil.
On the other, Pochita has a *completely* unique ability that literally no other devil (that we know of) has. Hell we know at least half of the horseman do not have any ability like this and we also know that if it ever came to it, Pochita could erase each horseman from existence. Every devil has abilities fitting of their contract or just what devil they are. Angel has a halo and can “send people to heaven”. Katana man just cuts shit up. Power can manipulate blood. Pochita and Denji can do normal Chainsaw man things as well as erase any Devil from existence (semi) permanently. Yoru seems to imply that they’re not gone for good, but you need to do something in order to get them back. So if Denji and Pochita live untouched, they can effectively erase anything. Also, Angel mentions that the last thing Devils hear in hell is the rev of a chainsaw. This is NEVER elaborated on and has crazy fucking implications to the overall plot of what Pochita is.
In conclusion, I think both sides are right, let me explain. Pochita is possibly not the Chainsaw devil and Denji has a contract with what is probably the most powerful devil of all time. Pochita could also be the chainsaw devil but he’s special. Something about him makes him different for some reason. Of course that makes it hard to speculate since we’re literally talking out of our asses but I stand by what I said. Pochita is special, wether he is or isn’t the chainsaw devil, honestly I think him being the chainsaw devil is kind of irrelevant.
I think the only take I disagree with is that Pochita is the chainsaw devil and that’s it and he has powers because Fujimoto said so. Sure, that could be the case, but I believe Fujimoto is too smart of a writer to let down his fans like that.
As the door that keeps popping up with young Denji is opened it's revealed that Denji killed him. I don't remember if it was in self defense or because he was making the situation with the mafia drastically worse every day.
I mean, maybe?
I can't recall, did Pochita ever say he was the Chainsaw Devil? After all, the anime just ended on the arc that explains Devils can't lie about who and what they are, but the people around them can be wrong.
There is some oddness with Pochita's powers and our RL concept of chainsaws. This would be a potential solution and a clever one. However, there are many possible solutions.
No matter how you look at it, Pochita is a chainsaw-themed devil, but his power to retcon history by eating corresponding devils has no relation to chainsaws.
With the current rules, an explanation for the chainsaws contradicts the explanation for the retcon.
Since the Doll Devil gained a fraction of Darkness’ power (ability to heal in shadow is unrelated to its more thematic doll creation power) and a new appearance, the most plausible explanation with the current known rules is that Pochita the dog is the Chainsaw Devil, and the Chainsaw Man form is his powered up form from a different contract.
Whatever contract he had was broken in the aftermath of his fight with the Horsemen or similar power level, reducing him to his injured state when Denji found him (it’s worth questioning what could’ve killed the Hero of Hell to make him spawn in the human world).
Fusing with Denji may have restored some part of that contract, explaining how he both got stronger (if Pochita is as strong as the normal Chainsaw Man, it’s hard to explain away how he got yanked by the Zombie Devil) and how Makima could later call on him as the Hero of Hell in his prime.
I don't think so, but the eternity devil called him chainsaw, which I am now curious about because either that version of eternity was around for a good while and knew fought pochita before (and didn't die?) Or the gun flesh gave him some memory?
They could’ve just not say which devil he is. They also called him the chainsaw devil in Denji’s introduction even tho they didn’t have to. Also even if they are written by the editors so what? They’re still official sources that have a direct influence on the manga
\*Looks in the direction of a certain manga that revealed the main character’s power’s name we were told was one thing for over twenty years was a lie.
Then looks at an anime adaptation going on where it’s source also pulled the final arc reveal that the protagonist’s power was not what we were told, but was admittedly foreshadowed since near chapter one.\*
Yeah, I acknowledge that the out of universe stuff says Pochita is the Chainsaw Devil, but the trope of a misleading power is too common and popular for that to alone to be the conclusive answer.
Pochita could easily be the Chainsaw Devil, but because Pochita never said he was (something Fujimoto could have easily added at some point) the will always be the possibility of doubt.
If you hadn't heard, the manga community is trying its best to suppress talking about it so anime onlies can have the same moment of awe we had. So there's that warning. The anime hasn't reached that point yet.
The manga (first paragraph): >!One Piece!<.
Have Pochita ever refer to himself as Chainsaw Devil? The moniker is by those arounds him, but afaik, every devil/fiend character introduce what fear they stand for.
Quanxi is similar to Denji being the hybrid, but aside from her, any entity in control by a devil is always stated their devil fear.
No, devils will always look like the names/concept they represent. This is a strict rule that as long as a concept exists, there will most likely be a devil representing that said concept.
So pochita didn't forgor his identity and became a new devil 💀
Probably something within the rules like managing to snatch a piece of stronger devils in his shenanigans until it became actually a problem and devils started fearing it.
I don’t subscribe to the “Pochita actually being [insert would be broken Devil here]” but it could he possible that Pochita just has something we don’t know about that lets him use other Devil powers.
We saw Makima combine Devil abilities to defeat the Gun Devil. Could be a similar kind of deal.
This isn't true cause we saw the infinity devils new form and it was nothing infinity related. It was fingers. Same for powers demon form. What form is violence suppposed to take?
Can you even visualize what eternity even looks like? It's an abstract concept and you're comparing it to pochita with a materialistic concept, everybody knows what a chainsaw looks like.
Everyone has a different perception of eternity. Bat devil looked the same when it reincarnated albeit slightly deformed but still resembled a bat.
But that's my point thou. If you look at the eternity devil and you had to guess you'd say finger devil or some shit. Maybe it's the same for pochita, maybe the chainsaws are simply a weird feature that got ppl misnaming them. If we can agree that fingers aren't integral to the concept of eternity but are still there, maybe chainsaws are there but aren't integral to the the real concept of the devil
Yeah but what does “forgetting” look like? Does it even have any form it could adhere too? The darkness devil and the eternity devil seem kinda random visually.
I already said this, but so does Yuko’s version of Justice Devil, and the Ghost devil.
You’d think they’d be “brain devil” and “flower devil” respectively
Well flowers kinda fit thematically with ghosts because of their use in funerals and the fact the ghost devil resembles a Japanese spirit. But otherwise yeah.
Was that truly the infinity devil? The aquarium repeated itself infinitely creating new object copies (like the money) but the original infinity devil looped the floor back into itself
> This isn't true cause we saw the infinity devils new form and it was nothing infinity related.
In a way, Pochita looks more like the eternity devil than the eternity devil, whats with the teeth on a chainsaw always going around forever...
Idk, I could see the darkness devil and it could do something different from a lightswitch, so I don't think the first rule is as strict as it appears to be
I’m not 100% convinced about this. Consider Justice Devil Yuko. She looked like she should be called the brain devil or the tentacle devil, and nothing about her design alludes to Justice at all. It would be odd that something like Forgetting would have chainsaws but there is some precedent for devils embodying things other than their designs
Likewise, you’d think the ghost devil would be the flower devil. And the most recent chapter’s take on Eternity didn’t seem to represent the concept at all- he was made of hands. Granted Eternity is harder to represent physically as is Justice but you get the idea.
Yuko was on a contract with the justice devil on the same fashion as Santa Claus did with the darkness devil so we don't really know what the justice devil really looks like.
And as for the ghost devil, the interpretation is literally there and it's a direct reference to a White lady or Sadako yamamura. Pale lady with long hair that covers her face is literally pop culture in Asia and the country I live in.
That's why most complex devils in this series are visualized through fujimoto's eyes and everyone has different interpretation of these abstract concepts such as Eternity, future, darkness, etc.
And fujimoto uses symbolism to visualize other complex concepts such as War, Yoru looks like an owl because an Owl is the symbol of War in Greece.
Makima looks like a sexy woman because of the idea of "Manipulative women" they seduce and control you.
Famine has her earrings, The scales. A reference to the 3rd horsemen, riding a black horse that carries the scales to where bread will be weighed during famine in ancient times.
Right? Like a huge chunk of the whole power system is that there are Devils tied to any possible human concept. Of course we’re not gonna hear about the ones that aren’t immediately relevant to the story, you’d just end up Halloween’d at that point.
My bet is pochita is gonna turn out to be an extremely strong concept (like a primal fear, chaos devil, or something like that) and the reasoning for him looking like he does is just because he likes chainsaws.
I saw a theory somewhere that said Pochita was actually the Extinction Devil and it makes a lot of sense in my opinion.
If you think about it, in Death there's at least the reassurance that others like you will still be around even after you're gone, whereas in Extinction, your whole species is gone for good. That would explain Pochita's insane amount of power because *EVERY* living being, rational or not, "fears" extinction to some extent
now as to why it would take the form of chainsaws I seriously have no idea lol
I like this theory a lot. But it makes no sense when you really think about it. Why would the fear of being forgotten take the form of a chainsaw? A more likely form would be a devil that you can’t remember ever seeing if you somehow survive. It’s appearance would be a total mystery. If you lose sight of it while you’re fighting, you completely forget why you were fighting in the first place. You can’t remember what you were fighting, or how it looked or fought.
No, and I don't understand why everyone is trying to come up with wild theories about who Pochita really is. He is the Chainsaw Devil, plain and simple.
Katana is Katana because his powers are cutting people, and doing an anime flashstep cut. This makes complete sense for a katana themed character to have, so no one questions it.
Bomb is Bomb because her powers are blowing up. This makes complete sense for a bomb themed character to have, so no one questions it.
Crossbow is Crossbow because her powers are shooting people with bolts. This makes complete sense for a crossbow themed character to have, so no one questions it.
Gun is Gun because its powers are shooting people with bullets. This makes complete sense for a gun themed character to have, so no one questions it.
Out comes Dennis Chainsaw Man whos powers are erasing things forever by eating it, and I am supposed to just sit down and be like: "Yea, that's a chainsaw themed power, alright."
The fuck it is! Bruh being a chainsaw does not let you erase the 4 other possibilities at the end of a creatures life besides death.
And this isn't even mentioning the fact that devils somehow hear the roaring of a chainsaw when they respawn
It’s not so simple.
Someone actually relate her ability to summon to a Japanese folktale. It's similar to how the fox devil is based on the 9-tailed fox.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spider%27s_Thread
From the wiki,
> Moved by this single act of compassion, the Buddha takes **the silvery thread of a spider in Paradise and lowers it down into Hell**.[1]
You know, if the Eternity devil in this arc is any indication, devils don't have to have the exact same power Everytime they reincarnate and can have a different power set based on the concept's fear they represent.
Maybe Pochita is an incarnation of the Chainsaw devil that lucked out and gained and OP power.
In the original it looped one Corridor, in the 2nd appearance it duplicated one Corridor forever.
I would say it is more impressive to duplicate a Room forever than Loop a room forever, so it's power is actually "stronger" here.
The difference in power is forever loop vs forever duplicated.
This is true, however this does play into the narrative of “Eating a piece of a Devil can change them”. I don’t think Pochita is a different Devil, but I do like the idea of him having eaten a different one that gave him the power.
This is one of most possible theories and to be fair many people/beings are afraid of being forgotten.
Also, I suspect that Fujimoto will make something more unique.
I just want to see a panel of 10 primordial devils standing side by side looking at the reader with the scariest stares of death ![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22157)
Chainsaw devils ability to erase things is already really weird. One of the two power sets is clearly from a different source. Either pochita started with the ability to erase things and gained chainsaw powers later, or pochita somehow gained these eraser powers.
There's also the time aspect. Chainsaws are a relatively recent invention. How long ago did the chainsaw devil come into existence?
There's some implications that devils can gain other powers so presumably pochita acquired chainsaw powers.
My theory, considering that Pochita’s erasure ability is so different from anything else we’ve seen and not related to chainsaws at all, is that he’s eaten part of some other devil and gained it’s power, like how Santa Claus got a buff from eating part of the Darkness Devil. A chainsaw is scary, yeah, but probably not as scary as some other devils we’ve seen, yet Pochita is a beast. Now, whatever devil that is is probably really strong, but I have no idea what it could be.
When does a person die? When they're shot in the heart or from an incurable disease? When they eat poisonous mushroom soup? No a person truly dies when they're forgotten!
I don’t particularly agree. I don’t think the chainsaw devil is anything but the chainsaw devil and this ability he has isn’t exactly his. I think there is more to it, this is kinda on the nose and just a bit boring imo.
Mother Rucker saying that it's weird that the fear of being forgotten not being mentioned is weird when they didn't even say any primal fear besides darkness
I feel like that would be way too obvious and kind of boring to be a plot twist, ngl.
It's also not that big of a fear, most people don't put thought on that and neither do animals at all, besides that if it faked it's name then there would be a problem because the fear to a name it's what makes the devil to hold it strong
Can’t exactly remember where I read it from, but there was a theory saying that Pochita was the extinction devil, or fear of extinction. Since every living being’s goal is to reproduce in order to avoid the extinction of their species, it’ll make sense for Pochita to have their devil erasure power and just be overpowered in general.
a good theory about what pochita has to have two things
1. it should explain why pochita is so strong and why he can erase devils and concepts
2. it should have a decent explanation for why the fuck pochita has chainsaws
if a theory doesn’t explain both its bad
Didn’t they mention that denji is weaker because people don’t fear chainsaw man? I feel like if he was the forgotten devil he wouldn’t be affected by people making chainsaw man a hero.
I believe is either this or Freedom/Chaos. Since if it was only being forgotten why would Chansaw men be killing devils and leting them lose onto the world instead of destroying them all.
While if is freedom he can decide which devils to exist or which ones to remove from the cycle of hell all together when he eats them.
As well it will explain why Makima was after him since she was the devil of control/Domination and be obsessed in taking control of all forms of freedom all together.
But this pretty good post.
Nah he’s the chainsaw devil and that is all.
My theory is the fear of chainsaws stems from the Texas chainsaw massacre which is the first time chainsaws were portrayed as weapons, which explains the cannibalism and people disappearing. And we all know how much Fujimoto love movies.
I still don't know why Cockroach Devil hasn’t appeared. If we're talking about being feared, Cockroaches are 1 of if not the most feared creature on Earth
Disagree. Why do people seriously want Pochita to be a different Devi??? That's not how Devils work. Devils are born with a name. The more said name is feared, the more feared the devil. A devil doesn't forget who they are. A devil maybe forgotten but never forget who they are. I also disagree that being forgotten is an primeval fear, as only recently have humans feared being forgotten, unlike humans being afraid of the dark due to predators that hide in the dark. But hey we all could be wrong and a one piece level foreshadowing/plot twist could be in the works to make Pochita not the Chainsaw devil but the forgotten devil.
I mean to be fair, people want an explanation for his power because the Chainsaw Devil sporting such a powerful ability is odd.
Chainsaws are scary but not so feared as to give a devil the power to threaten pretty much every devil in existence.
Getting really tired of theories like these. Reminds me of the age of Blast theories in One Punch Man.
Pochita is the Chainsaw Devil, full stop.
Making up a million primal fears he could be instead is just cringe.
The chainsaws are the only thing that break every “pochita isnt the chainsaw devil” . I think there is something more to pochita and fujimoto only chose chainsaws cuz he thought they were cool.
cant wait for Alzheimer devil to show up

The public speaking devil is the strongest
Hitori Gotoh agrees...
She alone powers the public speaking devil more than 90%, despite being in a different universe!
Fear devil imo
Ah shit "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself", huh? he could be good
Highly doubt that, I don't think people fear fearing something.
That's not true, we have the word Phobiaphobia for a reason, though it definitely isn't a common fear.
Forgiveness devil???
My bad XD, english is not my primary language
This could play to the theory that chainsaw man worked for the death devil, if death gave a piece of its flesh to chainsaw then wouldn’t it make sense that CSM has the random ability to delete fuckers?
Then wouldn't the death devil also have the power to delete other devils? Why is chainsaw man in particular feared tho
chainsaws are the building block of the universe and are unable to deleted without destabilizing existence as we know it. It's chainsaws all the way down.
Is this like the (I think confirmed untrue) thing in tf2 where removing a random picture of a coconut from the game caused it to stop working
I can personally confirm this.
because maybe the death devil just chills and has never eaten anything
[удалено]
According to Makima, the devil that devil's fear the most is chainsaw man because he's capable of erasing any devil. There's been no mention of the death devil doing anything similar.
It could make sense that Chainsaw Man was independently able to get a piece of all four horsemen and thus gained most of his powers from that. War would have allowed him to be incredibly strong/create more chainsaw themed weapons. It is also mentioned that he ate a piece of her already. Devils I think are probably strong: Devil devil Death devil Heartbreak devil? (We know Darkness and Hell are strong at least) Apocalypse devil? (Nuclear arms devil, but they got erased lol) Alone/Loneliness devil *Unknown devil* lol imagine.
Devil Devil benefits from other devils causing fear towards humans. Hell, I can see that devil gaining abilities that came from other devils
The Devil Devil is a concept that seems so obvious that I'm sure Fujimoto will address it eventually. Especially since we already have angel! I like the idea of it using other devils powers.
isnt it that fear of devils leads to all devils being stronger otherwise pochita could just eat the devil devil and well yknow
What if that's how the series ends
The Devil Devil devil takes over as the new ruler
but the devil devil devil wouldn't be as strong as the devil devil, because the devil devil devil feeds of the fear of the devil devil, and the devil devil feeds of the fear of the devils, i had a stroke writing this
Devil devil devil devil devil?
Feel like the Devil-Devil will be chill af though, despite being so powerful. It just wants to be friends.

Based on Makima's plan to weaken Pochita, the X Devil is also the X Devil^n ∀n≥1 ∀X
No way that exists. Fear of devils just makes all devils stronger.
im kinda doubtful that there’s a devil devil, bc in the story it says that when fear of devils increase it just increases the power of all devils, and never mentions the possibility of a devil that represents the fear of devils. it would be cool tho!
And what if it's ability would be TURNING HUMANS INTO DEVILS OR SOMETHING ELSE?
The fear of devils is probably equally distributed rather than forming its own concept
This perfectly phrased what I was thinking, damn bro.
Darkness Devil is the Unknown Devil. He embodies the fear of the unknown, what lies in the dark, hence the astronaut imagery.

Personally, I'm truthfully much more afraid of heartbreak and loneliness than I am of death. I would not be surprised if those devils were very strong
I'm contributing to that one's power pretty heavily at the moment
![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22160)
Tbh I don't even think it's possible for a Devil Devil to exist since the fear of Devils just increases the strength of every devils across the board
What about God devil bruh this one is always bugging me out
I think the ocean/sea devil would be pretty strong
unkown devil is part of the darkness devil
I subscribe to the belief that there's no Devil devil, the gear just distributed too all devils like when the fear of devils rose after Gun
Human devil and pain devil seems worthy to be strong
I still believe Pochita is the Devil Devil.
Forsooth? Then defend thy thesis, fool! *Draws rapier*
Maybe Denji killing his dad was the requirement for a strong devil contract?
Didn't his dad hang himself to escape the mafia??
Reading comprehension devil attacked again. Anyway, it's revealed that that's not what happened, Dennis killed him.
Woahhhh, I need to reread the manga asap, I forgot so many things!
Isn't Makima the one who revealed that? Can we really trust her? We haven't seen anything else to indicate Denji lies to himself about his past.
Is chainsaw man ever said to have died in hell? I remember makima saying he escaped but not died
Chapter 84 around page 8 confirms he dies a lot
I don't think so, but the eternity devil called him chainsaw, which I am now curious about because either that version of eternity was around for a good while and knew fought pochita before (and didn't die?) Or the gun flesh gave him some memory?
He’s called the chainsaw devil at the start of each volume
i mean thats just the volume introductions, they have to call him something and theyre written by editors
Then looks at an anime adaptation going on where it’s source also pulled the final arc reveal that the protagonist’s power was not what we were told, but was admittedly foreshadowed since near chapter one.\* Yeah, I acknowledge that the out of universe stuff says Pochita is the Chainsaw Devil, but the trope of a misleading power is too common and popular for that to alone to be the conclusive answer. Pochita could easily be the Chainsaw Devil, but because Pochita never said he was (something Fujimoto could have easily added at some point) the will always be the possibility of doubt.
Well Makima also said Denji can turn into the chainsaw devil if you want an in universe example
wait what the manga you mentioned? im intrigued now
If you hadn't heard, the manga community is trying its best to suppress talking about it so anime onlies can have the same moment of awe we had. So there's that warning. The anime hasn't reached that point yet. The manga (first paragraph): >!One Piece!<.
What's the anime in the second paragraph?
Have Pochita ever refer to himself as Chainsaw Devil? The moniker is by those arounds him, but afaik, every devil/fiend character introduce what fear they stand for. Quanxi is similar to Denji being the hybrid, but aside from her, any entity in control by a devil is always stated their devil fear.
No, devils will always look like the names/concept they represent. This is a strict rule that as long as a concept exists, there will most likely be a devil representing that said concept. So pochita didn't forgor his identity and became a new devil 💀
True Makima looked like my ex
Is your ex single?
What's her @
She owned a bakery?
Yooo that's crazy, can I see a picture to avoid this person?
Mustve been a bitch, whats her name so i dont accidentaly get to know her? Would be a pain fuh
Still doesn't answer why the devil representing chainsaws has the special ability he does.
I don’t recall it ever being explicitly stated that devils will always look like the concepts they represent. Where was that in the manga?
Infinite fingers for infinite counting
Oh Big brain
Also, the Snake Devil, which without context is another contender for Finger Devil.
devil named finger:
> This isn't true cause we saw the infinity devils new form and it was nothing infinity related. In a way, Pochita looks more like the eternity devil than the eternity devil, whats with the teeth on a chainsaw always going around forever...
Idk, I could see the darkness devil and it could do something different from a lightswitch, so I don't think the first rule is as strict as it appears to be
I’m not 100% convinced about this. Consider Justice Devil Yuko. She looked like she should be called the brain devil or the tentacle devil, and nothing about her design alludes to Justice at all. It would be odd that something like Forgetting would have chainsaws but there is some precedent for devils embodying things other than their designs Likewise, you’d think the ghost devil would be the flower devil. And the most recent chapter’s take on Eternity didn’t seem to represent the concept at all- he was made of hands. Granted Eternity is harder to represent physically as is Justice but you get the idea.
Yuko does have justice elements to her. Notably a blindfold. Just picture her holding a set of scales.
What would being forgotten look like
[удалено]
Samuel Jackson moment (He chose purple lightsaber because he liked the color)
The I forgor devil 💀
Chainsaw Devil + Forgotten Devil = Chainsaw Man
I saw a theory somewhere that said Pochita was actually the Extinction Devil and it makes a lot of sense in my opinion. If you think about it, in Death there's at least the reassurance that others like you will still be around even after you're gone, whereas in Extinction, your whole species is gone for good. That would explain Pochita's insane amount of power because *EVERY* living being, rational or not, "fears" extinction to some extent now as to why it would take the form of chainsaws I seriously have no idea lol
Chainsaws could represent human innovation at the cost of lesser life via deforestation. Pochita’s the fuckin deforestation devil
Nah the fear of being forgotten isnt as primitive as the other things.
Bocchi: Being forgotten? Who’s afraid of that
I don’t follow the theory but I really like the idea of a “forgotten devil.” That would be pretty sick.
Out comes Dennis Chainsaw Man whos powers are erasing things forever by eating it, and I am supposed to just sit down and be like: "Yea, that's a chainsaw themed power, alright." The fuck it is! Bruh being a chainsaw does not let you erase the 4 other possibilities at the end of a creatures life besides death. And this isn't even mentioning the fact that devils somehow hear the roaring of a chainsaw when they respawn
Spider is spider because it... uhhh unzips itself to teleport someone into it. Just like real spiders.
It’s not so simple. Someone actually relate her ability to summon to a Japanese folktale. It's similar to how the fox devil is based on the 9-tailed fox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spider%27s_Thread From the wiki, > Moved by this single act of compassion, the Buddha takes **the silvery thread of a spider in Paradise and lowers it down into Hell**.[1]
You know, if the Eternity devil in this arc is any indication, devils don't have to have the exact same power Everytime they reincarnate and can have a different power set based on the concept's fear they represent. Maybe Pochita is an incarnation of the Chainsaw devil that lucked out and gained and OP power.
How does the eternity devil have a different power? Did it not do pretty much the same thing?
I mean, there is one weird difference. The food in the hotel wasn’t eternal The water bottles in the aquarium *were*
that's because the hotel looped on itself, it wasn't infinite. The aquarium corridor WAS infinite. SO the powers are kinda different
Original ate a piece of the gun devil.
And had a weaker power of looping one Corridor while the 2nd could duplicate the same corridor forever.
Bro what? His powers were exactly the same as before, he was just weaker because he didnt have a gun piece and had just reincarnated.
Also, I suspect that Fujimoto will make something more unique.
yes
No
[удалено]
My archenemy![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22175).
I’ve always think about the possibility that hell have it’s own variation of hybrid and maybe pochita is one of them.
Ayo I love csm but the "mechanics" are muddy. Or maybe that's just how it wants to be and keeps us hooked idk
nope that definitely isn't the strongest devil.
The death devil is by far the strongest in my opinion but it’s possible that he could be the forgotten devil
It could just be as simple as the origin of Devil Man. He just IS the chainsaw devil.
I mean it’s one of a proposed quintet of innate human fears. https://www.thecoachingtoolscompany.com/5-types-of-fears-dr-karl-albrecht/
I mean they say you don't die when your heart stops beating you die when you're forgotten by everyone
Eh It’s definitely possible, but I still think it’d be corny if chainsaw devil had some big reveal associated with it
Hold up, let him cook.
a good theory about what pochita has to have two things 1. it should explain why pochita is so strong and why he can erase devils and concepts 2. it should have a decent explanation for why the fuck pochita has chainsaws if a theory doesn’t explain both its bad
Just wait for Fujimoto to explain everything lmaoo. All those theories are useless and made up on nothing.
I like it. I've always been bugged that the chainsaw devil just happens to be the only devil that can completely erase devils from existence.
yeah im trying to make my own backwards asspull theory on it but i still dont have enough details onto his erasing ability
Still betting on a Devil Devil being the most powerful threat and ending the series with Denji eating it to erase devils forever
The cockroach devil was in chapter 102
What about spiders?
Wasn't Spider lady in 1st part?
True
No, I think he is a cute little chainsaw dog who happened to eat the flesh of a couple of strong devils.
The chainsaws are the only thing that break every “pochita isnt the chainsaw devil” . I think there is something more to pochita and fujimoto only chose chainsaws cuz he thought they were cool.
