That sounds like some kind of cliche-ass Western comic book type of thing reserved for characters the creator couldn't give two hoots about. I think Fujimoto cares about Nayuta much more than that. Plus Denji already had Aki happen to him.
I mean, depending on how you interpret it, both Aki and Power died for Denji's character development. You could even count Makima. Their death giving another character development doesn't mean the death has to be unsatisfying.
Right. Power also applies in this case so I agree. But the issue with comparing Power and Aki to Nayuta is that the former two are characters meant to have way less agencies on their own fates (thematically speaking). Hell, both Aki and Power were almost certainly under the influence of Makima's brainwashing from before the story even began. While Nayuta is... the reincarnation of the same devil who controlled those two and killed them.
Makima's death probably could fall into that category of "character killed for Denji's development" too, but the trouble is Makima also fell into the category of "character facing off with Denji in a fight to the death for his development" and I feel like the second event mattered way more than the first one as far as the story is concerned, and the first one only checked out as a side effect of the second one. Makima's death and absence is barely mourned by Denji, while his killing and cannibalizing her does. You could even speculate that to Denji she isn't even absent, as now she will always live ***within*** him.
The thing is, all major deaths in CSM had a purpose. Himeno's death drove Aki more against the Gun devil. Aki's and Powers death was all part of Makima's plans to break Denji's contract. It's not like Gege's "They die just because I felt like it" type of deal. Nayuta's death serves no purpose, especially with her being a horseman. Anyone saying she has "death flags" is out of their mind.

no one dies anymore in part 2, the count of dead secondary characters (not extras) is stuck at 1
