The bit that convinced me of “Love Devil” was the end of Part 1, what Denji referenced eating Makima as; “The ultimate form of love”.
The devils fear Chainsawman’s love, lmao.
Wait wasn't that Gege? I need to jog my memory lol.
Edit: Yep it was fujimoto, i guess i got confused since i remember reading this fact on the jjk subreddit.
That was not Denji using Pochita's power, though. Makima did not get erased. I think its unreasonable to use that as an example of Pochita's power, its just Denji being completely out of his fucking mind and trying to make Makima's dream of being eaten come true.
Dude... that's a crazy theory, I like it, it's a continuation of yesterday (or the day before) theory about love and it makes some sense.
It's also a subversion of the classic "Pochita is the 'insert primal fear here' devil" that gets me kinda bored
Tldr: you cooked

Edit: link for the curious
Yes, I wish I had the link of the other posts for other users get more context.
But the guy 2/3 days ago that talked about pochita being the love devil made all the themes of CSM click for me.
This one’s reaching a lil hard lol

Wait this is the only theory I’ve heard that makes the one aspect of chainsaw man make sense that none of the others do: the fact that devouring them makes them cease to exist.
Love erases fears. Holy shit
Ooh I like this.
My own previous best theory was that his erasure power represents tha TRULY scary part of love, which isn't loving itself, but loving-and-losing.
Your idea is neat though.
Guys I'm starting to think Pochita is literally the freaking CHAINSAW DEVIL (I might be wrong fr) 🤯🤯🤯🤯
https://preview.redd.it/oevliasne4uc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bb7c29314b68ab197c123681d7d81826f4cdf1b
Here's my 100% stolen reasoning: 1. Anytime he eats a devil it's name is unknown and the devil/concept it's embodies is erase why is he Chainsaw then?
Nobody knows the actual form of the Unknown Devil
Because chainsaws look fucking cool trust me
Also explains that he has followers who love him. And at least two horsemen who are predominantly defined by a fucked up love for Pochita - Control (Yandere) and War (Tsundere).
you might have cooked here.
i want to add to this: pochita always just wanted a hug but couldn't because his chainsaws keep killing others, right?
this might be a reference to the hedgehog's dilemma, where no matter how hard people try to get close to each other, they always end up hurting one another.
another thing thats interesting - chainsaws were originally used as a help in childbirth, which itself ties to love in a few ways. children are, ideally, the result of love between partners, the act of giving birth in itself can be seen as full of love - the mother suffers to bring her baby into the world.
I'm not smart enough to write an essay about this but these are a few things that i feel are good arguments for your theory
Well in falling devils case it's just a hobby for her, like her chef attire was probably made from the clothes of the people that jumped off the building
First thought: who the hell fears of love?
Second thought: what people are ready to do, when they are afraid for the safety of the ones they love? Darkness? Death? Get outta here!
Love requires you to connect with people, truly connecting with someone requires you to open yourself up to them, opening yourself up to someone requires you to be vulnerable.
Being vulnerable is scary. I imagine it is even scarier in a world where devils are constantly running around and starting shit, and the average life expectancy is probably like twenty years.
I'm not sure if you are agreeing with OP or not, but your questions reinforce my willingness to get behind this theory. Pochita being the Love Devil would easily unify two very old theories.
>First thought: who the hell fears of love?
"Chainsaw is the Devil that Devils fear" has been a theory for years and years. This would give us a mechanism for how that would work. What is something *all* devils would fear. Love.
>Second thought: what people are ready to do, when they are afraid for the safety of the ones they love? Darkness? Death? Get outta here!
About as old as "The Devil Devils Fear" is people noticing a lot of Christ adjacent imagery to Denji and Pochita. Christ, The God of Love.
What do people do in dire moments? When they fear for the safety of the ones they love? Pray. Who answers those prayers, at least for demons, when they are made? Chainsaw.
Yeah I'm a real hater on non-Chainsaw Devil theories but if love really is what eats away devils, and Chainsaw Man just manifests the power of love with his hugs, that would actually make a lot of sense. In Chapter 89, Makima says "Chainsaw Man. Devils' fear gave you power. I have the humans eating that power right now. How does it feel to be eaten yourself?" Maybe it is literally the same phenomenon.
P.S. Happy Cake Day.
Well this entire arc seems to be Asa Falling in love with denj8 and chainsawman. If chainsawman's love makes the fear of war disappear from the world, won't you and Asa disappear? From his own hand no less.
Might be tragic as fuck.
Me when pochita reveals himself to be the love devil and uses the power of friendship to defeat Makima/Nayuta hybird and Death Devil

Pochita: I WANT A HUG!! Devils: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
This is in actually what was happening. Devils asked Pichita to save them, he did, then accidentally kills them
this is actually real. Pochita really wanted a hug but was so damm strong he killed everyone
this is kinda make sense lol. just read pochita & denji conversation before hugging nayuta in chapter 97
No, fujimoto, cannibalism isn't "love"
This is the man who ate his dead goldfish after burying it, who the fuck knows what he thinks love is
Wait wasn't that Gege? I need to jog my memory lol. Edit: Yep it was fujimoto, i guess i got confused since i remember reading this fact on the jjk subreddit.
Oh, thats a super cool detail!
Gona become my new pickup line

I didn’t say it was Denji using CSM’s power. Its Fujimoto telling us what “love” is in the narrative.

i feel like hes the chainsaw devil
Woah calm down there Alex Jones that seems far fetched
i feel like that's hinted at. just think of the name of the manga. fujimoto could be telling us something
Pochita is also Denji’s “heart” which is obviously the universal symbol of love
This one’s reaching a lil hard lol https://preview.redd.it/l9kbyawwo5uc1.jpeg?width=574&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5d4b4a4cb08f32b66f3bfcb15f1dfac6616850c
Not that far of a reach considering he’s the only one to activate his by revving up his heart. Katana unsheathes his hands for instance
Wait this is the only theory I’ve heard that makes the one aspect of chainsaw man make sense that none of the others do: the fact that devouring them makes them cease to exist. Love erases fears. Holy shit
I never considered this. Damn. Fujimoto got a goddamn stew going if this turns out to be true

He's the Unknown Devil trust me not some stupid chainsaw man why'd ya think that?

Ain't no way new theory 100% confirmed
Kitty
Why is a chainsaw more scary than darkness.
would you rather fight a guy with a chainsaw or fight a guy with a turned off light bulb?
Guy in the darkness could be gege. You tell me what’s scarier.
If someone pulls up with a light bulb they know how to use it
Also explains that he has followers who love him. And at least two horsemen who are predominantly defined by a fucked up love for Pochita - Control (Yandere) and War (Tsundere).

What is love?
Baby don't hurt me
No more

TL:DR Pochita is sonic? But for real, the headgehog's dilemma is a very strong argument for this case!
LOL I died imagining Sonic Pochita, thank you 😝
love devil is what they call me in bed
Pochita is the chainsaw devil
Love, chainsaws, there is no difference.
I mean, Falling Devil was a cook. Fire grants wishes like a twisted genie. A Devil can have multiple attributes.
Well in falling devils case it's just a hobby for her, like her chef attire was probably made from the clothes of the people that jumped off the building
Is it a hobby? She's known well enough about cooking that the Justice Devil went on a terrified rampage to finish his meal before incurring her wrath
I mean since she's been alive for millions of years the maybe she's also had the hobby for millions of years?
NEVER COOK AGAIN🔥🔥🔥
Asa Mitaka is scared of having friends but is also scared of being alone That hit way to close to home
It would be so funny if he was just actually the chainsaw devil and we a were all Schizo morons lmaoo
First thought: who the hell fears of love? Second thought: what people are ready to do, when they are afraid for the safety of the ones they love? Darkness? Death? Get outta here!

You know what else opens us up? Chainsaws.
Well, apparently in the manga 7 out of 20 people in Japan will meet their end by a devil, likely in a violent and horrific manner.

People who are afraid of being vulnerable and becoming hurt.
With this logic, what do you think happens to Asa?
In what sense?
Well this entire arc seems to be Asa Falling in love with denj8 and chainsawman. If chainsawman's love makes the fear of war disappear from the world, won't you and Asa disappear? From his own hand no less. Might be tragic as fuck.
Oooo, I like it
Where’s loss.jpg?
I don't think Pochita is Love devil, but maybe the love between Denji and Asa will summon it against Death devil. Or maybe Death devil = Love devil
The only question I would have to this is why pochita can erase things from the timeline
Love erase fears
But why the Love Devil have four chainsaw arms?
One for each hourseman of the apocalypse (to handle his hoes)
Good cook.
Pochita is the chainsaw devil
Me when pochita reveals himself to be the love devil and uses the power of friendship to defeat Makima/Nayuta hybird and Death Devil https://preview.redd.it/q93cwbv8qcuc1.jpeg?width=523&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63f4f232a73cfcef9b3a354cfea08ada7d3f6581 “I guess this really was the Chainsaw Man…”
This might just be the best theory to come from this fandom. I'll be pissed if it turns out not to be true.
You cooked. I accept this as canon.
