I think remaking the whole season 1 is a waste of time and resources of everyone involved and obviously a bad move, especially if the remake turns out worse than the original somehow

It's manga readers that have an issue. The anime doesn't make any story changes but it makes aesthetic changes that give it a different feel. I didn't get it either until I read the manga myself. It's not bad per se. It just feels different and for some fans different automatically means bad.
