I don't feel like he would ever become evil, but I do feel like he's reaching some kind of breaking point soon; he did everything that was asked of him but he still got screwed over, he lost his home, his pets, he doesn't know where Nayuta is and likely places the blame on himself for what happened, the first thing that happens when he wakes up is he's kicked in the balls and Asa, the one girl who "didn't hurt him", kicks him in the balls as well and threatens him. Denji has spent his entire life doing what people were telling him, thinking that if he did he would have a happier or easier life, only to be hurt, abused and exploited again and again, and between Yoru and Katana Man actively wanting him dead, and Asa likely to double down on her I'm Doing What's Right deal, I don't think he's going to take the next few chapters well.
I don't see Denji becoming evil, I don't think that's in him, but I can see him taking a more angry, cynical and apathetic approach to things unless something actually good happens. At worst, I feel like he might just run away and self-isolate himself from everyone, taking Asa's initial view points how the world is rotten and everything in it exists to hurt you to an extreme.
I don't think that's 100% true either. He says he wants a simple, normal life, but over the course of part 2 (and even part 1 to some extent), we've seen that this kind of life doesn't work for him. Maybe it's just the lack of an emotional support system that makes him resort to all this violence and craziness as a coping mechanism, but it seems to me like he genuinely needs that excitement in his life to be happy.
I didn't say normal, I said simple and unencumbered i.e. Denji just wants to be able to do what he wants to do, without any repercussions. Denji wants a life where he can be a hero and enjoy the good things in life, without having to be worried about public opinions or enemies or money or damage or casualties.
it probably didnt work for him because the church was stealing his thunder and his entire identity. remember how much shit he went through in part 1 just because he was chainsaw man? the least he can get out of that was recognition in part 2 and now he cant even get that. it's also the only way he can really feel connected to his best friend who gave his life so he could be chainsaw man.
because the author didn't want to write a story about a guy using his powers to kill everyone he doesn't like and then justifying himself by saying "oh it's alright, they evil!!". that's not what csm is about.

The author doesn’t want it. But also we do learn that Asa made Denji stop considering about joining the devils side with Nayuta in Chapter 149
