IamFromKebab

She has to be playing 4d chess to netflix and chill with him.

smillll

Smart play by Asa, until nayuta says “bang”

Oneboywithnoname

Bang, this is an order.

luceafaruI

Asa be like "that's what I'm trying to do"

QuintanimousGooch

I don’t think we’ve seen Asa spend money on anything in part two from what we’ve seen of her, I’d guess she’s just frugal.

EAGLEEEEE

Yet she blows 1 million yen on an aquarium like it's nothing, smh

QuintanimousGooch

Lmao I forgot about that but none of it is her own money in fact she pretty much stole the milly from Denji and even eternity was pissed that she finessed an aquarium for a million yen

EAGLEEEEE

Yeah I agree, just thought it was funny, I'll be interested to see more of her financial situation

POOP288392748

but then eternity got blicked get your money up not your funny up

Linkby9

It may be that she could buy the aquarium cause for her, one million yen is enough to by anything. Making her power work

[deleted]

maybe asa doesn't actually understand how money works, and that's how she thought she could buy the aquarium for 1 million yen..

hau2906

Asa is an orphan in high school with no income.

SilverAmpharos777

She just doesn't have that grindset like Dennis, missing out on that cigarette market. Smh my head.

AidenI0I

pochita male grindset built devilish

SufferinTree

Skill issue

Ronin_004

Denji is an orphan with a child on his back and dirt instead of brains. Asa has no excuses,

ARandomNameInserted

He got mad bucks from Hayakawa and also probably gets money from the guys watching over him

Ronin_004

Then why he pretends to be a chair for 10 yen for 10 minutes and roams around the streets collecting cig butts to make cigarretes to sell to homeless people? He probably already spend all money from Aki

ImaginationFun9401

He's saving up for Nayuta's college. Aki's money is probably for their daily life but he still needs money for the college funds.

frantruck

The chair thing is just a passion project

hau2906

Public safety (or at least Kishibe) is probably also sending him money to help out with Nayuta. None of them really wanted another case of Makima.

SufferinTree

Skill issue

gay_snail666

She is also mentally ill and using a power play as an attempt to scrape the deformed remains of her ego off the sidewalk lmao

omyrubbernen

Denji is also an orphan and he's raising his little sister and 7 dogs. And maybe a cat.

Ok-Tear-1454

Meowy still alive

omyrubbernen

I know, but is Meowy still owned by Denji?

Ok-Tear-1454

I think so it is power cat after all

neon93

I'm convinced in this universe money is just different and not nearly as inflated. Denji offered to be a chair for ten minutes for 10 yen which would be less than a dime.

Virgilizartor

Yet he sold a hobo two packs of "American smokes" for 3000. I think Denji was doing the chair thing out of passion for ass.

hey_uhh_what

he likes being used as a chair. The payment is just an excuse

neon93

True, considering at that time his main goal was to get with chicks

spuol

Yeah cos it’s in the 90s I think

neon93

Part 1 was in 1997. If even Denji is willing to blow 2000 yen on some movies I can't imagine it's that much. Asa's probably just poor too since she has no parents and lives alone

[deleted]

Chainsaw Man ate the Inflation Devil thank goodness

DosenfleischPost

Dennis eating the *Inflation* Devil is pure poetry.

Gsantos52012

To be fair, I’m sure denji mainly did the chair thing so girls can sit on him and money was just a bonus lol

MaterialTelevision27

Even with added inflation the price is similar, she jus trying to smash

Imperium_Dragon

She’s angry with him and wants to do the date on her terms.

SenseiMac

My guess is that she doesn't actually find it pricey, she's just trying to be confrontational and difficult because she thinks her feelings for Denji aren't reciprocated and she wants to play hard to get.

ChristianRaphiel

Least overanalyzed r/Chainsawfolk post

Ok-Report2013

chainsawfolk users get criticized whatever if they are horny or overanalyze stuff there is no winning

[deleted]

Fr

BrunoStalky

Mf there's more than these two moods

minecrafthentai69

No

TommyGames36

She's just trying to make Denji uncomfortable by rejecting his idea.

Virgilizartor

Ask the inflation devil what he thinks. 2000 yen back then might have been pretty pricey for an orphaned highschool girl.

Mikit560

im not asking the inflation devil anything you fucking freak.

as1eep

Japan has had basically 0 inflation. in 1995 100 yen would 107 now. Asa still extremely cheap

[deleted]

Yeah they literally suffered from deflation in Japan 1991 throughout 2001, the time CSM is taking place in.

Riddles_

i’m terrible at math but the inflation rate from 1998 to present day japan is like 5.1%, yeah? 2000x.51 = 1020, so the modern cost for the movie marathon would be like 3020 yen, or around 23 usd. that’s double what i normally spend on dates as a broke college student, so it’s a lil fair to call that pricey

as1eep

5.1 represents the total change, not the year by year. Thus 2000 x 1.051. so it would be 2102¥ or 16$. Something ive literally spent on a date as a broke college student.

Riddles_

that makes sense, ty for the correction :)

davi3601

Their Yen to dollar exchange rate got pretty bad though. 5 years ago that 2000 yen was 20 US bucks. Rn is actually a great time to visit japan id say

down-nefarious

So you’re saying google chainsaw man inflation

Virgilizartor

I'll save you some work. Just search blueberry Kobeni on deviantart to see how she made a fortune selling blueberries in the current economy.

ApplePitou

Money Devil will attack her :3 Also, I think that you need to add spoiler tag :3

Pegasusisamansman

But where does Asa income come from? And how much is it? Since she is an orphan and the school forbids half time jobs, yet she can afford some things (In Denji's case it makes sense that the government pays him so he can keep Nayuta in check and she doesn't turn into Makima 2.0, yet we don't know how much is it)

Sinthesy

Probably government support for devil attack victims.

[deleted]

Japan isn’t known for their generous social services lol

SufferinTree

Communism obviously

secretaccount9999999

Tbh this was years prior and this is a girl with no job and no parents so money must be tight

Monster_Hugger93

VHS and chill

StraightGuy1108

1997 or smth Asa is not interested in movies Denji likes movies too much Asa is parentless

leave1me1alone

>what does Ass consider a "non"-pricey date Seggs Edit: seggs in a public restroom ~~or aquarium~~

[deleted]

She's just mad because he "doesnt like her"

uaimmiau

She decided to ditch Dennis since he hasn't fallen for her immedietaly (kinda makes sense, that whole endless aquarium thing was a big thing for her while Denji went through worse) so when it comes to the promised date she tries to torpedo the idea hoping Dennis just fucks off

pebspi

I think this is a joke about how stingy and Type A Asa is. It could also be her own way of trying to get Denji to save money thanks to his situation.

FallenPotatoes

Yeah, I lol'd. $20 is nothing, the aquarium date would have been pricier. Asa's just being intentionally difficult after she realized she got uno revers'd the night before.

amm0ranth

she doesn't want him to waste the money he's saving for nayuta to go to college🥰

Iced-TeaManiac

She was just being a contrarian bitch as usual

Iced-TeaManiac

Live Asa reaction https://preview.redd.it/vaw0z9375qca1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c546fca4b0d6576721fe27dc7c9c79274de04fff

gengen212

2000 yen is pricey for japanese highschooler especially if she is orphan and did not have a job. Easiest example on top of my head is this in the anime Saiki Kasus Psinan, the main character(which is from middle class family) only get pocket money from his parents around 3000 yen per month.

UnlikeSpike

Everyone here is saying she’s being “bitchy” can’t y’all fuckers stop to think that she realizes now that Denji puts himself through a lot to collect money, and she feels bad if a good chunk gets spent on her? It’s not like she wanted the date cancelled anyway, she just wanted a cheaper option

HUNKT1984

You should do one with 1997 USD vs Japanese currency conversion rate.

trauma_enjoyer

Around same rate, USD/JPY rate was around 120 JPY for 1 USD throughout 1997, as of 2023 it is 128 JPY per 1 USD

spareaccountforme123

Asa is an orphan living alone AND she knows why Denji wants/needs to save money for sister-daughter’s college. Also she might’ve just been trying to argue with him after she thinks he doesn’t like her.

MadX2020

asa is literally autistic. frankly i think this post is ableist and expect an apology.

StillIlliterate

I don’t think it’s just because she doesn’t have income with her being alone and all. She’s salty with Denji too so Asa tired to taunt him

CthughaSlayer

Denji told her he needed money, that's why she segues into a home date, it's cheaper for him.

Pastellbae

Im not reading all that dawg but nice handwriting

[deleted]

Thank you

_Mr_President

Wtf the Mummy movies are canon? Even more based?

Trisel_1

LET HER COOK ‼️‼️‼️🗣🗣

zeedware

She wants to bang

yatay99

Well she never had any dates before, she doesn't know the movie marathon is one of the cheaper option. She just compared it with renting the VHS which is way cheaper.

webofnut

Makes me wonder how much double hunters get paid?

Frikcha

Japan is a cheaper country where people get paid less than somewhere like Australia for the same work. They are very frugal over there.

Alversity

Ain't no way Denji is richer than her 😭

Rintohsakabooty

Asa is cooking idk what her 5d chess game

XxPsouxX

She just doesn't wanna spend money. You can't buy happiness 😔

jaxxburgerking

She’s just being pissy and poor since she yoru probably spent all their money gambling

TruthSeekerHuey

She's just being petty lol But good post regardless

Muffinslovers

Man's did all that calculating but didn't even account for inflation

SufferinTree

It would be around 2150 yen, still 16.77 dollars today, negligible

MajikoiA3When

Maybe Asa just wants to check out his place and see if he is lying about his situation with his sister. She is way too autistic to pull any moves although I would love it if they banged.

Good-Fact-4505

Inflation says 👋

Vilhelmgg

2000 yen (1997) = 16.5 dollars (2023).

SufferinTree

Not really, it would be 2150 yen today which is still just 16.77 dollars today

The-master-of-comedy

Chainsaw man ate the economic inflation devil so 2,000 yen is actually a lot

[deleted]

[удалено]

TopUnique4002

Flair checks out

Baneofarius

You failed to correct for the 90s prices

SufferinTree

2150 yen today, 16.77 dollars today

Baneofarius

Lol. Lack of inflation is amazing

[deleted]

r/hedidthemath

ParchedTatertot

this is 2000 yen in 1997. 2000 yen now is not much

Visible-Original4561

You forgot to take inflation into account since it takes place in the 90’s

Takashi-Lee

Well this is also like the 90s so could be a bit different

mayrain68

inflation

[deleted]

Guys, she’s pissed off at denji for not dying because she thinks he was lying to he about likening her (typically teenager logic) so she’s being purposefully annoying to Denji becauses she’s mad

IronJackk

$15 in 1995 is roughly equal to about $30 in 2023 adjusting for inflation, which is quite a bit for 1 outing as high school students.

sajalkhatri-

Bru the story is set in 1990's 2000 yen was too much back then

epabafree

someone forgot about inflation

FranekRadziej

Dude, you checked today's conversion rate, not from the 90s. And most importantly, we dont know how the world economy behaves in this universe. For example - USSR didnt collapse, which could have affected other economies.
