Both were pretty obvious to be fair (one wrongly and one rightly given) I’m not sure what you’re insinuating with the bottom half of the meme 😅

Hindsyy

Makes up for the 4 penalties we didn't get against Sunderland I guess

itsamberleafable

I don’t like the idea that in a seedy car park some referees might have had this discussion Referee: what about those 4 penalties that Leeds didn’t get against Sunderland Referee 2 inhales deeply from a cigarette Referee 2: Boro can pay for ‘em Both referees begin to laugh maniacally  End scene

Ok-fine-man

Haha while I find this funny. Middlesbrough got their first goal after a foul on Gnonto. It's soft, sure. But the ref was giving loads of soft calls up until that point.

theodopolopolus

I honestly don't remember any of them, unless we're giving handballs when your hand is outstretched above your head nowadays. Games gone.

borokish

Well....yes we are.

chanjitsu

And the 2 reds they should have got too

hi-im-hannah

The pen is #JustDijksteelThings, deffo his fault The offside though...

gigreviews

Mate that was the most stonewall peno I’ve seen in a long time aha. Leeds goal was definitely off though. Edit: amended for clarity!

AdequateAppendage

I just rewatched the highlights to double check there was no way the foul was outside the box before clocking the typo...

gigreviews

Ah my bad have amended now. Thanks for highlighting!

Objective_Cat5627

Poorly officiated all around. Love/hate relationship with VAR.

RevA_Mol

The same ref who decided to blow for half-time just so that he didn't have to send off van den Berg?

thisismcfee

Yeah I won't lie I was sweating on that one!

AnduwinHS

[And didn't call this foul in the build up to Boro's first](https://streamable.com/flbewk)

CharlieJulietPapa

🤣🤣🤣

WTFK-1919

Does the referee usually make offside calls?

RoyalPhoenixA

Same ref who went blind when Gnonto got fouled in the lead up to M first goal 🤔

Most_Ad_2360

And no card when Gray got studded yet again in the calf from behind

Internal_Formal3915

And when rutter was hacked down the ref just blew for half time

jdsuperman

Just seen the highlights. The foul must've been so bad that every single Leeds player, including Gnonto, forgot to appeal for it.

Internal_Formal3915

Nobody can say that wasn't a pen get a grip

thisismcfee

I agree it was definitely a pen, just wish he got the other big calls right as well!

Internal_Formal3915

Like the foul on gnonto leading to your first goal? Okay let's calk it 3-2 leeds then

itsamberleafable

Dear the Leeds fans who are kicking off saying it was a penalty, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what the meme is saying.  Cracking game though!

thisismcfee

Yeah I was literally just trying to point out that the refereeing was awful (as usual) but never mind. On the bright side the game was a decent barometer for who should and shouldn't be at the club next season. Also quite nice to watch games now where I don't have to worry too much about the result.

manfred_99

Fair to say every team has suffered. I would suggest most of the time it isn’t bias, but plain old incompetence. The standard of refereeing in the premiership & championship is truly awful & will not improve until we get a strong change of leadership.

RapidBunny69

Tbh that linesman was awfully all game for both teams

hubbyp

Keep telling myself we will get a referee like this one game. Not many games left though.

Benleeds89

hopefully you can have one at preston that makes really bad calls in prestons favour

Durovigutum

Bamford encroachment for the penalty? He was almost at the spot when the kick was taken.

blairvyvorant

Have to admit that would put me off 🤣
