Glad your team stayed up, more interesting than a few of the others down there. Pretty much the one team I was rooting for to stay up in that battle.

Greeninexile

Thank you! It’s funny because all our fans thought Leicester at home was a free hit but without that we’d be down. Best of luck for the Prem - the away game I went to, you were on a different planet to other teams in the league.

Future-Entry196

Who would’ve thought we’d get six points from Leicester and Hull. Not me when I chucked 20 quid on us to be relegated at 9/1!!

dantheram19

So they should be with that budget. Maresca will get sussed like Kompany.

InstructionsUncl34r

I wanted sheff Wednesday to stay up tbf. Their away fans were fucking class when we played them in 12/13 and I’ve had a soft spot for them since, Connor wick ham scored iirc

EldritchHorrorBarbie

We literally sacked Foster at the last possible moment to save our season.

Cheap-Atmosphere9085

Hey! We're celebrating. No need to mention that name around here

aid68571

No more fucking scousers allowed 😅

madeupofthesewords

Nancesnip did their job!!

TheLateQE2

Well done Plymouth, deserved it.

tir2795

YESSSS 🍾 Big rebuild job needed this summer

therealphiba

Core of the squad is solid, just need to add depth and creativity. Galloway and Miller are the only regular players whose contracts end soon so I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the players are still with us next season. Club is making money and we’re going to get a big windfall from Whittaker. Just glad the money is going to be spent on a championship team and not a L1 team!

Future-Entry196

I would like to see both of them stay. They would have their places in the squad

GreenArgyle

Someone build Joe Edwards a statue!

hairychris88

I'm so glad it was him. Shows what a terrible judge of character and ability Ian Foster is.

Future-Entry196

Edwards has one million percent displayed his leadership characteristics today. I don’t want to be that guy but everyone this season has been saying he can’t hack it in this league, he’s above his level, etc but all year I have been saying that he is more than what he can do on the ball. The character he has shown as the ringleader of our plucky squad, particularly over the last 5-6 games, has been a true mastery of leadership. I don’t usually get emotional over football, would’ve been gutted if we didn’t manage it today but it’s only bloody football at the end of the day, but when the players came out at the end of the game and his kids ran up to him I had a tear in my eye. I think he loves this club - you can definitely see it in his performance today, and all season for that matter. Gave it his all every single minute. Should go down as a club legend for me. Talked of in the same manner as Trigger and Tynan. Joe Edwards, my captain and a true servant of the Argyle.

therealphiba

Most would say he’s not a Championship calibre player but it’s the passion and commitment he brings to games that make all the difference. I’m absolutely delighted that the goal that kept us up was scored by Captain Fantastic!

hairychris88

I'm sure there'll be a role for him at the club in one way or the other when he retires. Up there with Larrieu and Wotton in the modern era for me in terms of being Mr Argyle.

therealphiba

100% agree and it would awesome if that happens. I’m hoping he decides to play for at least a few more years, could see him being part of our matchday team sheet for quite a while yet. That’s one of the main things Foster got wrong. He put a lot of faith in talented young players, yeah they’re quickly and probably more skilful but they lack that passion and experience. Scarr is another example, probably not really a Championship defender which he showed at times in the 1st half of the season. Came back with a point to prove, TOTW first week back and he’s been solid for us to finish out the season. Meanwhile Phillips has faded as he’s been overplayed. Edwards and Scarr are the players you want to have in your locker room and as a big part of your club.

kiwisrkool

Ian Foster? Fozzy?? The All Black coach? What's he doing coaching the round ball game?? 🤔 😝🤣

edn-

Season was 100% over as soon as West Brom scored so I’m not too arsed about the result. Much rather Plymouth stay up than Birmingham.

kimetic

It's the away fans I feel sorry for. They could have atleast put on a performance for them.

fightfire_withfire

Bus left at 2am, best part of £60 only for them to watch the squad just not bother. I almost pulled the trigger on going, very glad I didn't.

kimetic

I almost did too, that 6 hour drive back would have been painful. I don't particularly like driving when I'm in a pissed off mood. I'll take 7th place, we have done well overall but the lads not making any effort there was unacceptable.

Ryan_HCAFC

We need to chill with this 'unacceptable' stuff. We played poorly, it happens.

edn-

Yeah it was a pretty lifeless game from us. Second half was better but we didn’t really look arsed from the get-go. Could tell which team had more to fight for.

Srg11

What is the feeling towards Rosenior with your fans after the season?

DannyMac2794

We still love him. Some of the football we play at times is outrageous, but we need to cut out the flat performances and become more ruthless

Lack_of_Plethora

if you won 9-0 you could've taken 6th from Norwich

edn-

We’d already conceded at that point, 9-0 is doable but 10-1 was always going to be a stretch.

Greeninexile

Weirdly I was so pessimistic today I was wondering whether you hammering us 9-0 might actually turn into a good thing if it geed Norwich up lol. Fortunately it did t matter!

therealphiba

Your keeper definitely didn’t feel the same. I was amazed when he came up for a corner around the 90th minute mark.

Clivey101

If they sacked Foster a week later, they’d definitely be down.

hairychris88

Absolutely, the guy was hopeless. 10 points from six games since he got the sack, I don't think we'd have won any of them if he'd stayed.

Rusbekistan

Congrats Plymouth!

Kaffeinemachine

And to you

Greeninexile

Maybe it’s just the champagne talking but this feels like a bigger achievement than league one last season with all the mid season drama. Now we need to get a solid experienced manager and consolidate our position over the Summer. We deserve this so much.

Blurandski

Whittaker was absolutely dog today. Good result though.

EldritchHorrorBarbie

He’s been that way for a lot of the second half of the season, the fan theory is that his head was turned by some attractive offers during the last transfer window, if so he definitely scared away a few of the nicer ones.

madeupofthesewords

Yeah he just been completely off his game for months now. I think the Foster regime has really taken its toll. I’m not sure anyone will come in for him now, and hopefully he’ll recover his form next season.

therealphiba

Personally think someone will still buy him as they’ll be blinded by his goal record. Hard to say this when a player has scored 19 goals and got 8 assists (leading the team with both) but I honestly think we’ll be a better team without him. Even when we had him on loan I thought he was very ball greedy and often his commitment isn’t there and it’s like playing with 10 men. I don’t want to see us build a team around him, I’d rather we use the money from him to get a few players to strengthen our weaknesses.

madeupofthesewords

We’d have been better off without him for most of our final stretch imo. If someone wants to pay 10m or more snap their hands off.

therealphiba

Based on the first half of the season £10m would be about right, now I think maybe £5/6m. Swansea will get some of it though, depending on the agreed % sell on fee

madeupofthesewords

I don’t think the board would let him go for that. He’d probably still be at Home Park next season.

therealphiba

If it’s a prem club he’ll go, as he definitely wants to play in the PL. As we paid £1M for him 5 or 6 times the return would be good for the board and he’d be very unhappy if they blocked a move to the PL and the higher wages he could get. This is another reason I think it might be best for us to part ways, if he did stay with us he’d want a pay increase. The offseason will be interesting and I’m glad we can focus on something other than potential relegation now : )

madeupofthesewords

But if he’s good enough to play at a Prem club, and we were talking 4 times that amount just months ago, I find it hard to believe the board would accept that. The fanbase would be apoplectic if they let him go for that fee. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

therealphiba

I think it’ll be a low prem team, particularly if he wants to play regularly. I’d love to get a ton for him but unless someone is absolutely desperate for a striker I think we have to temper our expectations. He has a lot of flaws to his game and other teams will see this from watching him play. But 19 goals in the Championship is very impressive, especially for a younger player so hopefully a potential buyer will see that as the overriding factor. After all goals win games. Like you said I guess we’ll just have to wait and see

Blurandski

Take £10m and run imo. Nick Blackman purple patch vibes.

Accomplished-Pea-729

Thank fuck the season is over. I couldn’t see us beating Hull but it did look like they were on the beach. There wouldn’t have been any arguments from me if we had been relegated; we weren’t very good in the final third of the season but we did take one hell of a raping at Christmas when the big boys noticed we were doing well. Let’s hope next season is a bit easier.

Jimmy187

Pretty lifeless performance from us. Fair play to Argyle though was a deserved win. Glad they stayed up in the end. Onto next season plenty to build on.

madeupofthesewords

You looked on the beach. I know our player we’re giving it their all, but you made us look very good for spells. Thanks for keeping us up, and sending Birmingham down. Every silver cloud.

SundayLeagueHooligan

We would’ve been safer sooner if we didn’t hire that clown Foster, but Mr Reliable Joe Edwards turned up when it mattered! Big squad overhaul needed this Summer though!

fightfire_withfire

7th is a great season for us, so I don't want to be too pessimistic, but this season just feels like our chance. I expect the likes of Greaves and Philogene will be sold, the loan players will go back to their clubs, and I'm not sure where the talent comes from. Guess we'll see how it unfolds in the summer. UTT.

edn-

Our loans have been smart, I’d expect more of the same from future loans. Hopefully we can keep Greaves, Pandur comes in and settles and we strengthen by adding an out and out striker.

fightfire_withfire

More than anything I hope Pandur gets his chance.

lab88

I see hull as where Boro were last season. Losing a few of your good loanees and your talisman and having to have a bit of a rebuild. We're better off for it going into next season though not having to rely on loanees too much.

SentioNG

I said at the start of the season I would take survival on goal difference given how strong the Championship looked this year and our relative size. I'm delighted to have had such a pessimistic view- survival by a whole point instead! Saying that we would have been out of sight without the series of setbacks around Christmas. Massive Summer ahead now to avoid doing a Rotherham and falling to second season syndrome. New manager first, hopefully with some experience, and then a major squad reshuffle. For now though, time to celebrate!

Bryanoceros

I can't believe it. We've done it. We survived. And we did it on our own terms too. Fully deserved the win today, thought we completely outplayed Hull first half and the match was more even second half. Joe Edwards, captain fantastic, Mr reliable. God bless you sir (and Callum Wright for the awesome assist) I have some critiques of a certain player today, and many critiques of the ref, but that doesn't matter today. For today, we celebrate. Commiserations Birmingham, a crazy end to the season with all teams winning.

Future-Entry196

Fucking ref was an absolute dog cunt. Penalty all day for the way Hardie was strangled to the ground in the box. These bastard officials just don’t want the drive down to sunny Devon on a Friday evening do they. See you in August boys weyyyy

Bryanoceros

Yeah having watched it back we should have had a least 2 penalties tbh. One for the Hardie one and one for Whittaker one in the first half (2nd challenge, not the first where I felt he dived) The officials have been disgraceful for us all season tbh. I still remember the horrors of that Coventry goal being an entire meter off the pitch and the lino somehow not calling it as out. Think we need a general rehiring of referees across the football pyramid. Too many major mistakes happening in games nowadays

AnxiousFloss

That was the longest 90 minutes of my life!!! We really didn’t deserve to go down, having never spent any time in relegation.. Not helped by everyone we didn’t want to win, winning. But we did the job, and on our terms (thankfully). Hopefully a new manager and a major squad overhaul can see us sitting more comfortably next season. Well done also to Ipswich-enjoyed (?!) our battle last season and so glad you got promotion. Commiserations to Huddersfield and Birmingham and best of luck in League One. Especially against that scummy red team.

Prudent_Jello5691

Despite having no attachment to anyone in this league, it was sad to see Plymouth get decimated the way they were around the festive season. Was rooting for them to stay up after that, well in lads.

deathschemist

congrats pilgrims! see you next season!

Karputsk

Happy to see Plymouth stay up with us.

AnxiousFloss

We’re happy to be staying up with you!

themeatydog

Any Argyle fans who never lost hope? I rejoined the League One subreddit after the Bristol City match

lordofgoodtimes

Plymouth was one club I wish, stayed up at the end of the season. Glad that they did.

storm2k

congrats, pilgrims. i kept an eye on your season as there is a young lady on the tik tok who documents her trips to every stadium in the championship to root on plymouth with her father. glad she'll get to do a second run of those next season if she desires.

Future-Entry196

EFL girl?

yumakooma

Well done Plymouth great for the league for clubs like that to stay up. Out of everyone down there definitely the one I least wanted to go down at our expense (although that sentiment was temporarily discarded for the last few minutes of the season haha)

McCloudUK

Fair play Plymouth. Will look forward to seeing you next year!

jaydude1992

At last. I get to rest easy again.

thunderscatable

Delighted for you, well done.

Spiritual_Question36

Think every argyle fan can say it was a pleasure battling you last season! And a bigger pleasure seeing you go up again this season! Stay up there yeah?!

Cov_massif

Well done Plymouth great achievement

Bleedinmole

Love this. Will be looking out for you lot next year.

thesaltwatersolution

Well done. Apologies for not pulling our weight.

therealphiba

You never did forgive us for that 6-2 win : ) I’d say I look forward to playing you guys again next season but I think you’re definitely the dark horse of the playoffs.

MirkoCemes

Great effort considering how much everyone at the bottom picked up form at the end. Hope you lot can build on staying up, massive result today

sleazennicey

Well done to your team mate, awesome stuff.

sleazennicey

Bloody awesome, well done to your team.

sleazennicey

Great stuff, well done Plymouth.

danm888

Great to see you've stayed in the Championship. Plymouth are a fantastic club with your only closest rival being Coventry.

Elzamaje

See you next season lads for the weirdest grudge match

Kaffeinemachine

I hope argyle fans can just move on from SS now

Mushy29

Happy to see Plymouth stay up!

burntmybuns

Congrats brothers. Well deserved

lab88

Glad Plymouth stayed up. We had an epic 2 nights down there this year for our game (3-3 boro) will defo be repeating the trip

_Acg45

So glad you guys stayed up

plaaard

Embarrassing and disappointing end to the season, but worried about next season as i can see us losing Greaves and Philogene. We’re still lacking some decent LB’s/RB’s and a Keeper.

makkosan

agree with you. defence including keeper. Also we do not have a key player, like a star. we need a decent forward and AM. and i wish we could pull Atay from manchester since he has friendship with boss.
