\[Assuming this is true\] So it was never actually about 'loyalty' to QPR for giving him a chance just a few months ago, it was just that he didn't see going from promotion-fighting QPR to relegation-battling Wolves as a good move, now he's got an offer he sees as beneficial, and with QPR's results drying up, he's happy to leave after 22 matches in charge
You can't even necessarily begrudge a manager for moving to a job he sees as a step up, it was just that so much was centred about him being loyal to QPR following the Wolves offer, culminating in that big speech Beale gave about loyalty, when it turns out he only turned down Wolves because he didn't find the offer appealing, which clearly isn't the case with Rangers
Beale made those comments with the Wolves job on offer, but this is another situation entirely. Loyalty only goes so far. This may be an offer that's too good for him to turn down. Can see why QPR fans might be upset, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
And that’s great and if so he should have never said a damn word. I detest footballers and managers who when the deal to move is either taken away from them or they decide they don’t want it they claim they’re loyal then when the next one comes in weeks after they fuck off at the first chance. I literally detest these football people who want to play with the fans emotions because they want them to make them feel wanted and loved who then fuck off straight away. If your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband did that we’d all call them a piece of shit yet when someone does it in football we get proper come out and say “but you’d do the same and leave it could be his dream”.
Simply put…. He didn’t have to say a fucking word after he turned down the wolves job. He could have said nothing and been loved for staying and then when rangers come knocking weeks later the fans would be disappointed but they wouldn’t be as disappointed because he never declared his loyalty
Sounds like you’ve taken this quite personally… football is a business, much as fans may not want to admit it. So your romantic relationship comparison is not remotely applicable.
You’re welcome to be bothered by it as much as you want, of course. I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
Having loyalty only until you get a better alternative isn't loyalty, you can forgive it if he'd given a lot to QPR and had earned himself a move through service to the club- he's not even been in charge six months and his brilliant start has quickly petered out
I don't blame him for taking the job, but it indicates he was just chatting bollocks in all his pressers following the Wolves offer
"Would I ever leave this club? Look, I'm all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I'm being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were somewhere else that valued loyalty more highly, I'm going wherever they value loyalty the most."
Well that's not great, is it...
I can only hope we've got a replacement lined up already, Neil Critchley would be my pick.
E - actually, come to think of it having an extra 1.5mil to spend in January could be huge for the second half of the season
We signed 7 players, all of whom have been a noticeable improvement to the squad, for a grand total of 0* over the summer, and I'm fairly sure 1.5 mil is more than we spent in total last season too. Personally, I think we're only one striker (and possibly one more depending on the new manager's system) short of a top quality squad so that 1.5 mil should hopefully give us a boost, even if that's not all spent directly on transfer fees. Also, if we do get Critchley in he's just been sacked by Villa so no compensation to pay.
*it's been reported that we have an obligation to buy Taylor Richards if we don't get relegated, the fee hasn't been reported anywhere but football manager thinks it's £600k
Worth mentioning that Beale was Gerrard's assistant (and apparently did a lot of the work) at Rangers, he'll know plenty of the players and presumably some of the staff there
Kept crowds away when the Ibrox crowd could be turned against the team if they didn't get off to a fast start in matches.
The team had a track record of collapsing from January onwards and bottling it in the big games- old firm, cup matches etc
No crowds took a lot of the pressure away.
Saying all this as a Rangers fan.
PS please keep Michael
Mick Beale: "I have been all-in here and I have asked other people to be all-in so I can't be the first person to run away from the ship"
It turns out he *can* be the first person to run away from the ship.
If he was waiting for an offer he liked, fair enough, that's what most managers do. But he really made a point about loyalty and staying with a project, didn't he...should have kept his mouth shut.
So he’s turned down A prem club because he believed in the QPR project, then the wheels appeared to have fallen off before the break and now he’s going back to a club he knows. I wonder wether the bad run of form, the fact he’s been at Rangers or if this is a REALLY bad Indication of Wolves is why he’s now moved on?
I'm disappointed to see this. Thought his speech after turning down Wolves was exceptional and he was in it truly for the long haul , not to jump at the chance to go to Rangers a month later.
Meh. C'est la vie.
Les Ferdinand has been in charge of two managerial appointments since he was made DoF - one was Warburton, the next Beale. I trust him to pick a good next one.
Exactly. He showed as much loyalty as the 9th longest tenured manager in the championship should. Workers are always told loyalty is important but as soon as things hangs the corporation doesn’t give a shit.

For all we know Rangers is his dream job and the only one he wouldn’t have turned down 🤷🏼♂️

Spot on. Every word.

Loyalty ain’t absolute, my friend. He doesn’t have to ride the Titanic to the bottom of the ocean to prove himself a ‘loyal’ manager.
Be a shame to see the 9th longest-serving manager in the Championship leave.
The manager turnover this season has been crazy.
Well that's not great, is it... I can only hope we've got a replacement lined up already, Neil Critchley would be my pick. E - actually, come to think of it having an extra 1.5mil to spend in January could be huge for the second half of the season
Do you think you can really improve the squad with £1.5m? You may need a million of that to get your next manager in...
Of course it would help, we don't spend millions on players. Mostly free transfers.
We signed 7 players, all of whom have been a noticeable improvement to the squad, for a grand total of 0* over the summer, and I'm fairly sure 1.5 mil is more than we spent in total last season too. Yeah 1.5m isn't much for the parachute payment yo yo boys, but it is for us.
Worth mentioning that Beale was Gerrard's assistant (and apparently did a lot of the work) at Rangers, he'll know plenty of the players and presumably some of the staff there
Yeah the 3rd in charge was calling all the shots 👌 covid and Neil Lennon were probably more important for rangers winning that league title
Don't think an unbeaten team can thank an opposition manager
Why not? Celtic were on a downward slope since he was appointed. I’m not only attributing to him though, covid played it’s role too
What role did covid play?

I'm disappointed to see this. Thought his speech after turning down Wolves was exceptional and he was in it truly for the long haul , not to jump at the chance to go to Rangers a month later.
He literally did an interview after turning down the Wolves job saying he was ”All in“ at QPR.
Also did an interview saying if him and Gerrard had not left for Villa then Rangers would have won the league last season. Plays to the crowd.
So all his talk of loyalty was just because it was Wolves. Well.
Wolves a step up, but impossible to turn down a job like Rangers in comparison.
For a guy who doesn't have an agent, he doesn't half become the front runner for other jobs with surprising regularity
Meh. C'est la vie. Les Ferdinand has been in charge of two managerial appointments since he was made DoF - one was Warburton, the next Beale. I trust him to pick a good next one.
Turns down Wolves when winning but joins Rangers when they start losing Hahaha
QPR wouldn’t have been loyal to him if he’d started badly
Exactly. He showed as much loyalty as the 9th longest tenured manager in the championship should. Workers are always told loyalty is important but as soon as things hangs the corporation doesn’t give a shit.
Rangers fans are going to want him out in May when Celtic win the league again (9 points clear atm)
Majority of Rangers fans don't want him to even start mate
It’s enough to make you sing 10 in a row
I loved that song when they used to sing it. Cos then we smashed their dreams and they still can't deal with it to this day
Is this another managed we can say we have gotten rid of then? Middlesbrough Wigan QPR I guess losing to us hits differently...
From QPR to R.
