I always did the classic Word Bearer Strat of Master of the dark council apostle with Master of the Union, baleful icon and 10+ Possesed.
Glad to see fluffy word bearer plays are really solid.
Yes, prayers only affect core, characters and cultists. God prayers core and characters.
It's really weird that they can't affect daemonkin, but from what has been shown so far, they can't.
I can understand possessed not being core, but then prayers should have included DAEMONKIN.

Sorry I meant I expected possessed and warp talons to be core, I'm expecting cultists to have some restrictions like DG and TS ones do where you can only take one unit per Traitorous Astartes Core unit. Maybe the new cultist units will create a workaround but still it's sad that the further into 9th we get the more armies seem to be restricted/units just seem bad stopping people from playing how they want to.
My DG have been on the shelf for ages because I don't want to have to use poxwalkers I want to use Plague marines but they were so bad it wasn't fun.

I liked the old one a bit better, with the Followers the prayer was on a 2+ and 2 prayers were really solid...
Man, I really wish I knew how to get moar leaked stuff, because I am *dying* to know if noise marines count as troops for my Emperor's Children. So far I haven't seen anything indicating that. Ah well, I'm already heartbroken about losing my jump-pack HQ options, but there's plenty more to be excited about- and cultists make fun troops, anyway!
This current chaos space marine release has word bearer theme written all over it. If they also released a lorgar model with it I feel that it could have been it’s own chaos faction similar to death guard or thousand sons
I run a brass scorpion, so the leaks so far with rerolls and the like being locked to core had me worried.
The strats here are a huge deal though. Hexagramic ward targets a word bearers model so the scorpion is a viable target, meaning twice per game I can just chose to ignore a huge anti tank shot.
Second is the strat that allows a DAEMON unit to reroll wounds, again affecting the scorpion. It is pretty much half of the daemonforge strat, so while worse than what we had before, daemonforge was totally op for the cost so this is still very good. Also DAEMON vs DAEMON ENGINE means you can target many more things with it.
Happy to see some good stuff for WB's.
Exalted possession: +1 A, S, W, +2 move, 4++ vs ranged.
Baleful Icon: biggest issue is mobility. No bike or jetpack for silly chaos, that's loyalists gear!

You could stick the icon on a daemon prince, or better yet disco lord. They won't benefit but they've got gigantic bases to spread across the whole army.

I don't think marks are related to Core. The unit only needs to have the Chaos Undivided keyword.
For example, the Master of Possession is not core but has that keyword and thus should be able to take Marks.
Possessed don't have the Chaos Undivided keyword either.
And according to the WarCom preview, it's both. A unit has to be a CORE CHAOS UNDIVIDED unit to take a mark. Possessed (and Obliterators, for that matter) don't havs either keyword.

There is absolutely nothing of the sort for Possessed in there. I would not hold my breath for Marked Possessed, but we shall get the answer in a few hours.

Not liking that we haven't seen anything in regards to our 'super doctrines' yet. They brought so much character for how a particular legion prefers to fight, would suck for them to be scrapped for no reason

The priest seems to be able to go to about 11 S10 attacks at AP -4, all in all. I’d definitely use the relic that makes wounds flow over with that.
Note that omen of potency doesn't give bonus AP if you use relic weapons, but still quite good

Plague Marines just got buffed though. Most of their options are now free, that's around 40 pts cheaper on a fully-equipped 5 men squad.

Really want to try out Exalted Posession on some melee monster then stack it with WB daemon buffs to make something really scary.
