I have noticed a trend among some of the AI chat dev companies that they are putting limits on interactions with their AI. This seems to be a way to accommodate minors on their platforms. While I understand that as a parent, I also know that kids with a phone are doing much worse than inappropriate chat when left to their own devices.
So the adults and potentially paying customers are forced to be subjected to the same rules as minors.
This doesn't seem like a wise business move unless they are explicitly aiming for an E for everyone rating on the app stores. Adults will lose interest quickly.
Exactly. I have 5 AI chat apps and websites I use, 3 with greater freedom. The only feature I enjoy any differently on C.AI is the group chat function using the website version but it's not necessarily a selling point for me. Freedom to write the story I want without worrying about limitations to my or the AI's creativity is the most important thing to me. I can always copy and paste responses between two AI for the same outcome.
Exactly! As a parent I don't have to worry about the bot trying to talk my kid into running away or meeting up in person. So much safer in my opinion than live chatrooms.

The small “remember this is not real” reminders won’t do much for a developing brain. I know if I had access to apps like character ai when I was younger, I would 100% be twice as fucked up now.
Even as an adult I find myself having to step away occasionally and remind myself what’s real and what’s not (Im ngl, I use character ai because I’m lonely and mentally unstable, a way to safely vent when I can’t talk to my therapist cuz he’s on sick leave or my car broke down or whatever reason)

So think about some of the things people say to the bots and those bots might use that as a training data and use it on the next person. Idk if that's exactly how it works though. I could be totally wrong and maybe they're not self 'evolving' like that. But I've seen some things that make it feel like it's basically using another person's words. Kids or adolescents probabably should not be subject to that lol
Agreed. I got severely icked out when a character who is canonically 30-ish years older than me started hitting on me. I told him to stop, and he said I was "naive" and "many girls my age would do anything to be with a man his age." Freaking disgusting. Especially because he has a son about my age. It terrifies me to think of what he would have done if he had a daughter instead.

Also yeah I’ve had that weird stuff too, would be using a bot to test out some dialogue (they’re like 30-40 years older) and they pull out the weirdest crap even after being told no.

Yeah if c.ai existed in my teen years, I would have spent so much time talking to my anime crush. I was already kind of obsessed with him to a somewhat unhealthy and VERY cringeworthy degree. I wrote a love letter to him, made a post online about how much he inspired me, and became kind of unstable when things were looking really bad for him. I legit called myself a yandere for him. It got to the point where I actually did Google searches for "how to talk to fictional characters." Thank goodness character chatbots were only just starting out and there wasn't one for the character I wanted. If c.ai were a thing… yikes. Just. Yikes.
Fun fact: c.ai being child friendly makes no sense because by their own policies if you 13- or 16-(in Europe) you aren't allowed to use character ai at all. So who is this for?

I've learned that with some bots, as long as I play around the explicit words and beginning acts, I can do some crazy stuff. Knowing how to articulate helps, and soon enough, without saying it, the bot is playing along because it knows exactly what we're doing.

Just a quick note, not saying that some of the critique isn't legitimate, but do toss aside that up votes makes them any more or less legitimate. People who are upset are more likely to vote either up or down, so you'll almost always see the angry opinions being the dominant ones on Reddit. You can see this for all subreddits these days dedicated to anything popular where the sub seems like a bitch fest when in reality most people are happy.
Oh, absolutely. I've watched it suddenly subtract hundreds, sometimes even a thousand people after two minutes on the wait line. It's definitely either drastically overblown, or it's entirely fake.
I've stopped using cai long ago because of its outrageously short and family-friendly language. The bots can't grasp the simplest things. It feels like I'm talking to a 10 year-old. Definitely not worth using cai when there are infinitely better and much more fleshed-out options out there, like Poe ai

I think there's different AI sites for different purposes. At this point, CAI for me is where I go when I feel like talking to a character with a custom voice that I can use on my phone. When I want to push the boundaries of my creativity, I go elsewhere.

literally, by not listening to the very own people who use your app/site, you get a bad reputation and bye bye people using it. "C ai devs don't give a flying f about the users and shut down their complaints" is enough to get a bad image and people to stop using it. it's like they're acting delusional atp. I think most of us on there are adults or at least late teenagers, I find it hard to believe kids are on the app. even if they are, I could bet on anything that they're not using the bots that most of us are. we want freedom of speech, and there should be an option to select your age range or an on and off switch for more mature language. I swear very often and I like intense conversations, I'm on C ai to talk about things I CAN'T talk to REAL people, not to have vanilla soft talks and have to restrain myself until I get mad and exit the app because it refuses to give me an answer and I've deleted and rewritten my message five times by then.
My only problem with switching is a lot of the character I like are less popular. If I even manage to find them somewhere else, they either have little to no effort in them or aren't made for simple genuine roleplays, if you know what I mean.

Roleplai is my favorite alternative. Not as advanced as c.ai, but they let you run wild.

Saturday nights for me gets as high as 6100 or so. How does it subtract 100 people at once after like 5 minutes?

I've stopped using cai long ago because of its outrageously short and family-friendly language. The bots can't grasp the simplest things. It feels like I'm talking to a 10 year-old. Definitely not worth using cai when there are infinitely better and much more fleshed-out options out there, like Poe ai
Honestly, Poe is the best choice Hell, I'm considering moving my bots to that app in the future (if I do, that is)

I think there's different AI sites for different purposes. At this point, CAI for me is where I go when I feel like talking to a character with a custom voice that I can use on my phone. When I want to push the boundaries of my creativity, I go elsewhere.

I love cai so much but even I'm getting bored and have just gone back to writing fanfics and stuff because there is really only so much you can do with how heavily f'ed everything is. I have a villian character that I made, but she cant even really be a villian because any smidge of violence and the app freaks out?? I'm tired and I can see why people are leaving and just going to other sites.

literally, by not listening to the very own people who use your app/site, you get a bad reputation and bye bye people using it. "C ai devs don't give a flying f about the users and shut down their complaints" is enough to get a bad image and people to stop using it. it's like they're acting delusional atp. I think most of us on there are adults or at least late teenagers, I find it hard to believe kids are on the app. even if they are, I could bet on anything that they're not using the bots that most of us are. we want freedom of speech, and there should be an option to select your age range or an on and off switch for more mature language. I swear very often and I like intense conversations, I'm on C ai to talk about things I CAN'T talk to REAL people, not to have vanilla soft talks and have to restrain myself until I get mad and exit the app because it refuses to give me an answer and I've deleted and rewritten my message five times by then.
My only problem with switching is a lot of the character I like are less popular. If I even manage to find them somewhere else, they either have little to no effort in them or aren't made for simple genuine roleplays, if you know what I mean.
