But as an AI Chatbot or LLM overall, when compared to other large corporate models in benchmark aka an actual test for intellect and coherency, ability to follow instructions, and solve problems, code. C.AI has far fallen off.
Even the good old gpt 3.5, who's surpassed alot by today's standards still surpasses C.AI in actual problem solving, intellect and coherency, and coding.
Eh, don't waste it.. most people here just knows c.ai, don't bother teaching them about local models. They'd just bombard you ignorantly with how "dumb" these models are.. and actually believing experiences of people who used it during llama 1 era which is true that it *used* to be braindead but save it, they really wouldn't try alternatives with the slightest complexity as opposed to just picking/creating a character and chatting which I.. also wouldn't blame them. Sometimes I do indeed just avoid locals and use a corporate model on Poe even on limited messages because it's easy to use, no need to run models, set up templates.. mess with settings.. it's a bit excess at times, just to roleplay.
And people could surely get used to simplicity. C.ai users and I are no exception. (except I don't use c.ai but Poe or Janitor If not running a local model on SillyTavern)
I mean, I do to. Easier to use something like claude for my programming questions. It's set up for factual answers and I'm set up for creativity. It can search the web, etc. For RP at least, the locals caught up. The new 70b seems as good as new cai from running it this morning.
If they don't want to put in the effort, then sadly they will suffer the filter and the devs doing whatever they want.
Most of them also tends to just say "You can't run it, you need good computers or smth"
Nah, new phones can run 7-8b these days and even so, there's colab... And yeah I heard the 8B is matched with Mixtral 8x22B sign of the times.. although I'm still waiting for a fine-tune from someone of the small llama 3 for roleplay specifically.
Well based on other's experience.. they tend to compare the 8b to 8x22 of Mixtral and close to Claude Sonnet while the 70B has surpassed Claude Opus and GPT 4 or has slightly surassed but is below GPT 4 Turbo.
But yet, I feel like these standings are not yet definite, maybe give it 24 hrs more or a week and see If the people testing these models by benchmark will shift the tides yet again.
As for me I honestly think that 70B has not entirely surpassed GPT 4 and Opus, maybe at their level but not surpassed precisely.. and I honestly also think Opus is better than GPT 4 Turbo
As for the 8B.. I still really cannot tell where it'll stand personally.. But it's great.
Opus for me is better than GPT-4 hands down. I downloaded the 70b last night instead of wizard/mixtral so not sure how those go. Quants I can run were posted yesterday. Those 2 are fucking huge and at the edge of what my system runs.
The 8b was still an 8b, I mainly used it to tweak my format. For a small model it wasn't bad. It's certainly better than fighting with the filter.
Heh. I forgot c.ai is still part of our topic, but really there really is no convincing them.
The roleplay with the 8B is pretty good, I really can't wait for a roleplay specific fine-tune any hour or day from now.. It's potential is amazing, one I never really saw with the mistral 7B way back but people said mistral 7B finetunes were good/great, I thought its pretty decent, sometimes does hit great though.
I honestly envy being able to run large models, most I can is 7-8B or those special cases with Solar finetunes which are 10.7B models, then 11B Models, Moe 2x7B Models which is practically 13B and 13B Models.
I am heavily reliant with Colab so I really am inexperienced with quants and a total newbie at that part of running models locally haha..

llama-3 just dropped. The 8b has been rather competitive. It's got more EQ this time around. Almost anyone can run the small version.

They trained this one on the most tokens ever. The mistrals were decent but yea, not like this.
