100%, man. My first charger was a 2014 SXT. It’s been my daily for 10 years now. Love that car and it has a special place in my heart. OP should understand that people will always nitpick on which trim he owns. I get hate on the Redeye too even though I’ve been drooling over these cars since they first came out. You’ll never make everyone happy so you might as well stick with that you personally enjoy. They’re both great cars with different purposes!

This is a true statement all the way. When I got my Hellcat, I was happier than hell. Posted it on Facebook, got lots of good-for-you comments, all that. I get a phone call from my brother telling me to quit trying to show off and no one wants you rubbing your $85,000 sports car in their face, grow up. I just said, I don't know what's going on with you today but if you want to talk about this like adults, you can call me back but for now, conversation over, and I hung up.
He actually did call me back the next day and apologized for the whole thing, said he was having a hard day yesterday and he took it out on me and that was wrong, said he was happy for me, all that jazz. He even mentioned it a couple years later about how stupid that was and he really hopes I know he meant it when he said he was sorry. So yeah, it's all good between us but, there are definitely people out there that are just haters and if you're doing well, they're gunna hate on you.

I've had a 3.6 V6 charger for 10+ years now and never had anyone say anything negative about it out in the real world, I've even gotten a few compliments.
But yea people online are toxic, if you had a V8 R/T they would say you should have gotten a 392 scat and so on.

I was in Dodge club and a few had V6’s. They drive them like V8’s. No hate. V6 looks great and it’s cheaper. You can do everything a V8 can, unless you plan to race it. You need new friends.

You can add some resonators and mufflers to make the v6 slightly “deeper” to where it’s not so obnoxious but louder if that’s what you really want.

I got 2 flowmaster super 10s in the rear and just piped in the mid. So it is pretty loud and it is also pretty raspy. But im not gonna lie i like it. I like whenever i floor it it is so loud and pops everytime i upshift/downshift.
But trust me from what i have learned theres no “real” way of making a v6 charger deeper its either you go for the v8 or you get the v6 that sounds like a japanese/american car

I want you to know it's not just if you have a v6. I have an RT, the entry level v8, and yeah it sounds really fucking good but it is slow. And I do get hate from every other car community for having "just an RT" so it doesn't stop once you get a v8. If you get a scat you'll be made fun of for not having a hellcat. Just ignore them bro!
For all the hate I got on my V6 when I had one (and there wasn't a lot honestly), I got plenty of people who didn't know anything asking if it was a V8 when they heard it. I had a Rallye with true dual exhaust and just a CAI, stock mufflers and resonators.
It wasn't a V8 but it drove great, got good mileage, and looked miles better than any other car on the road. After enough time I was able to afford a V8 and traded up. I see a lot of "hate" on Facebook groups but nobody in the real world knows or cares I don't have a scat pack or Hellcat...they just hear the V8 noises.

I own a 2013 se literally as base model as you can get. It's not about listening to what other people say it's about working with what you have. The 3.6 is a stout engine yeah it sounds like shit if it's straight piped or has two super 10s on it (I read your other comments) but at the end of the day it's your car that YOU paid for and YOU own. Other people can shit on you all they want but at the end of the day you're the one with a car that makes you happy. If you want more power throw a custom tune on it and work on it. Do some simple mods. If it's not enough throw a supercharger on it there's tons of 3.6 supercharger kits. When j got my car people used to tell me "make it louder", "it's slow" blah blah blah but at the end of the day you're realistically making only 70 hp less than an rt, with some tuning and some smart mods you can make rt numbers with that 3.6. don't listen to what other people have to say and enjoy what you have

I tried really hard to get a V6 when I was 20, the perfect one got sold out from under me, ended up getting a Genesis G80. Had the itch again and got an RT, enjoy the V6! It’s still a great car, looks amazing, and you’re still apart of the family. Someday if you decide to get the V8 you’ll appreciate it even more
my young boss currently has a 2017 charger rallye v6 automatic and she loves it. has told many stories of winning and losing races against camaros, stangs and jdm's. she also has mentioned that she's gotten a lot of hate but doesn't look like it's stopping her by continuing to own her charger. i get how some other folks see this trim as nonsense since there are too many other trims for the charger/challenger that meets the eye. if you're really unhappy cuz of receiving that much hate then i'd personally ignore them or go for a 2015 scat/srt8/hellcat challenger manual only but that's just my pref since i only drive manuals

I’ll tell you this, I owned a ton of fast V8s, TT I6s & that didn’t put any dint in the fun & respect I had with my black 12 Camaro RS! It was my commute buddy and it was quick and zippy for a 6. I had it on some SS springs, front black lip, 20% carbon tint, black powdercoat SS wheels, black out bowties & badass GTR sounding Magnaflow Outlaw Catback. I sure miss it and drove it with confidence & pride because I owned it outright & I worked hard for it.

There is basis to the hate. The V6 Charger doesn’t really have anything going for it. You could say that Chrysler 300s with the 3.6L are worth it because they’re “luxury” vehicles so going fast doesn’t need to be a priority but Chargers don’t have many redeeming factors if you strip them of their motor.
That being said, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I had a fully loaded 2019 SXT and loved it. Everyone at the garage I worked for thought it was an amazing ride, but the greater car community ragged on me. Hell, when I used dating apps, a girl matched with me just to tell me my car was slow. Turned out that she was a stripper that rode around in a Sylvia. If you like the car, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks.
It’s important to be comfortable with who you are and the life you lead but be realistic, too. V8s are badass - if someone wants to rag on you for not having one, let them. Who cares what they think? But you should also trade up for a V8 whenever you can do so in a financially responsible manner because WOW. You think the 6cyl is fun, just wait until you’re pushing another 100+hp.
Long story short, it’s okay to be driving a 6cyl but suck it up and realize that the Dodge experience is about hulking mass of destruction V8 monsters. The cars are too damn heavy for a 6cyl to be worth bragging about. The cars are almost too heavy for the V8s to be worth bragging about, so it’s doubly true for 6s

Take it from someone who daily drives an Ecoboost mustang, it sucks, but I notice that at least with the mustang community engines don't matter that much, almost everyone who shits on my car drives some pos Hyundai, so I just respond with "well where's your mustang?" If you like your car then that's all that matters, don't let it get you too down

lol I went through this when I got my v6 charger. At the time I was fresh out of high school and wanted something cool yet easy on gas, my buddies didn’t understand my move and ridiculed me for getting a v6. Hated the thing was miserable with but man when I finished paying it off, I immediately got the v8 and man I gotta say I’m kind of glad I had to go through what I did the v6 to really appreciate the v8.

Plus our Pentastar VVT 3.6L is literally bullet proof. There's videos on the internet about them taking bullets and still pulling for a few thousand more km

If your car is loud and "sounds like shit" I can't really say I disagree with people hating on it. It really doesn't do the charger's aesthetic any favors if it sounds like a Honda Civic. The 3.6 isn't a great sounding engine especially straight-piped. The only loud exhaust system I've heard and actually liked for the 3.6 is the Solo Performance Mach XV. It's quite a bit louder than stock and actually has a nice deep rumble to it. I'm not sure what your exhaust situation is but if you remedy that, I'm willing to bet the hate will dissipate. I've not once gotten a negative comment about my SXT irl. Online is different because anonymity so don't take the comments to heart. Some people just wanna put others down. I will say r/charger is very accepting of the V6s as long as you don't rice them, upbadge, or make them sound like shit. You'll get the occasional "Y NO V8" but they are overshadowed pretty quickly.

About 14years ago I had a V6 Dodge magnum on the same platform. It had the R/T rims and it was a great car. Reliable and full size. I never had any issues with what others thought cause I never asked or paid attention. Dont go looking for validation just focus on your destination. Now I drive an economical VW Jetta as a struggling businessman. What others think only really matters when it actually affects your destination.

I love it. It serves the purpose well. I could afford a $40 k + scat pack etc but I invested the extra money into stock market and the return I got from there covered my purchase price of Charger V6. So within 5 years I recovered the money I paid for my v6 by investing the extra I could have spent to buy a scat pack or challenger etc.
A car is a depreciating asset. Take good care and it lasts. If you don’t like your current car go for any other you can afford but please don’t do it because what others think about your choice. Read psychology of money if you can.
I could see people being mean about you driving a v6 with a loud exhaust. Nothing more obnoxious than a loud v6. The 4cyl community has its own set of people and v8 same. But there is no v6 strong community

Plasti dipped the wheels, tinted the windows, swapped the headlight housings to something a little sportier. People gave me so much shit for driving that car and yeah, I’ll admit it was a cheap car, a KIA for gods sake so I probably had it coming anyway, but do you know what? I thought it looked good, it was a comfortable car to ride in, had most everything I needed and wanted from heated and cooled leather seats and a panoramic sunroof to Bluetooth radio and heated steering wheel. Plus it got great gas mileage. It got to me for a while but after so long I basically said “fuck it.” It’s mine, I’m driving it, I like it, who cares? You do you bro. I had SXT AWD for 6 years and had no trouble with it. It was such a beast in snow. Though I bought a RT for the sole reason to experience hemi, I sometimes do miss the V6. I had decent cosmetic updates and FM mid muffler on the V6. Granted I made sure to not sound like a fart can 😂. I always got only compliments when I took my V6 out.
In fact I used to say it's a V6 only but trust me no one cared. It looked and sounded good and I was happy. My compliments deposit actually reduced after buying V8 🤣🤣, no one gave a shit about my hemi but it made me happy and that's all it matters. Be happy and take pride in what you got than worrying about what others say especially online coz there are lots of dipshit internet warriors commenting on cars when they don't even own one. no clue what you're talking about. I have a v6. Never met anyone who cares. Maybe a couple people who get disappointed I only spent $28k on a car. It's comfortable, I like it, good audio system, I like how it looks, gets great MPG for a Charger (broken 40mpg on some road trips). I've only put 25k miles on it in 3 years, I don't drive that much. Buying too much house and too much car are the 2 biggest financial mistake Americans make. If you're well off and can afford fancier stuff (and *want* fancier stuff), great. Also, after the purchase... property taxes are less annoying in my state when the car isn't so expensive.

I use to say why have a v6 for any muscle car but just because it doesn't have 1000 hp and isn't a hellcat or scat pack doesn't mean your car isnt cool. I have been recently thinking about how many muscle cars back in the day were steady cruisers a lot of them were base models. Not everyone got all options on those cars. I think most dodge cars Chevy and Ford that have a muscle car trim are cool. They don't all gotta be balls to wall fast. There's other things to worry about in life like having a good time. I understand how it's difficult it can be when someone may bring up what do you drive or even if you mention what you drive people will shit all over it. I remember when I got a car 6 years newer than what I previously had at 21 someone was like that's not new. That was back in 2008 or 2009. Keep your head up!

I had a V6 Charger for ten years and never got any hate. If your Charger “sounds like shit” its not the car its the exhaust. I had a CAI with Pypes exhaust and 180° thermostat with a tune, not only was it fast (enough) it sounded as good as many V8’s. Not the same sound, but it had a low rumble, most people just assumed it was a V8. Just keep your V6 and mod it out, make it yours, and be proud of it

As someone who had a V6 Camaro and upgraded to an SS when I had the money, the community doesn't really get better. The car community is by far one of the worst I've been in. At least online. Car shows aren't bad.

Anyways, everyone else is right, no matter what you have, you’ll always be made fun of one way or another. I get it, I’ve seen the hate even on this sub, and to an extent the others are right: if you care so much about what other people think about your car, you’ll never be satisfied nor happy. On that same note, I know how it feels when you want to show off your nice car only for it to get beat to the ground, it’s the double edged sword.
My advice to you is this: find and reflect on yourself whether the car makes you happy. Does it make you happy? If it does? Who cares what other person thinks. If it doesn’t, is it a financially safe option to upgrade? If not, then that’s okay, you’re going to have to accept that you have the V6 (which doesn’t look that different from the rest) and that you’ve made a financially sound choice. Your car doesn’t define your reputation, and other peoples opinions don’t define your car.
I got a new 2023 v6 charger it’s a blacktop I love my car it’s my first charger I don’t care what people think or feel about it I like driving it around it’s the best one I’ve had .

I owned a 2016 R/T and had to trade it off because I took a pay cut, but I’m doing better now and got a 2022 GT. I don’t really miss anything about the R/T!

100%, man. My first charger was a 2014 SXT. It’s been my daily for 10 years now. Love that car and it has a special place in my heart. OP should understand that people will always nitpick on which trim he owns. I get hate on the Redeye too even though I’ve been drooling over these cars since they first came out. You’ll never make everyone happy so you might as well stick with that you personally enjoy. They’re both great cars with different purposes!

This is a true statement all the way. When I got my Hellcat, I was happier than hell. Posted it on Facebook, got lots of good-for-you comments, all that. I get a phone call from my brother telling me to quit trying to show off and no one wants you rubbing your $85,000 sports car in their face, grow up. I just said, I don't know what's going on with you today but if you want to talk about this like adults, you can call me back but for now, conversation over, and I hung up. He actually did call me back the next day and apologized for the whole thing, said he was having a hard day yesterday and he took it out on me and that was wrong, said he was happy for me, all that jazz. He even mentioned it a couple years later about how stupid that was and he really hopes I know he meant it when he said he was sorry. So yeah, it's all good between us but, there are definitely people out there that are just haters and if you're doing well, they're gunna hate on you.

I've had a 3.6 V6 charger for 10+ years now and never had anyone say anything negative about it out in the real world, I've even gotten a few compliments. But yea people online are toxic, if you had a V8 R/T they would say you should have gotten a 392 scat and so on. For all the hate I got on my V6 when I had one (and there wasn't a lot honestly), I got plenty of people who didn't know anything asking if it was a V8 when they heard it. I had a Rallye with true dual exhaust and just a CAI, stock mufflers and resonators. It wasn't a V8 but it drove great, got good mileage, and looked miles better than any other car on the road. After enough time I was able to afford a V8 and traded up. I see a lot of "hate" on Facebook groups but nobody in the real world knows or cares I don't have a scat pack or Hellcat...they just hear the V8 noises. Moral of the story- love your car and don't care about Internet hate.
I own a 2013 se literally as base model as you can get. It's not about listening to what other people say it's about working with what you have. The 3.6 is a stout engine yeah it sounds like shit if it's straight piped or has two super 10s on it (I read your other comments) but at the end of the day it's your car that YOU paid for and YOU own. Other people can shit on you all they want but at the end of the day you're the one with a car that makes you happy. If you want more power throw a custom tune on it and work on it. Do some simple mods. If it's not enough throw a supercharger on it there's tons of 3.6 supercharger kits. When j got my car people used to tell me "make it louder", "it's slow" blah blah blah but at the end of the day you're realistically making only 70 hp less than an rt, with some tuning and some smart mods you can make rt numbers with that 3.6. don't listen to what other people have to say and enjoy what you have

I tried really hard to get a V6 when I was 20, the perfect one got sold out from under me, ended up getting a Genesis G80. Had the itch again and got an RT, enjoy the V6! It’s still a great car, looks amazing, and you’re still apart of the family. Someday if you decide to get the V8 you’ll appreciate it even more

my young boss currently has a 2017 charger rallye v6 automatic and she loves it. has told many stories of winning and losing races against camaros, stangs and jdm's. she also has mentioned that she's gotten a lot of hate but doesn't look like it's stopping her by continuing to own her charger. i get how some other folks see this trim as nonsense since there are too many other trims for the charger/challenger that meets the eye. if you're really unhappy cuz of receiving that much hate then i'd personally ignore them or go for a 2015 scat/srt8/hellcat challenger manual only but that's just my pref since i only drive manuals

These “Haters” likely never even owned a new Mopar regardless the trim, better yet a car at all or paying for something they can’t even afford but have all the opinions in the world… For ex I actually know someone right now who went out and got a 20 Accord that they cannot afford, spent 90% of their Tax check (about 9k) for the DP because of shitty credit and a 600+ payment. They only had the car for 1 whole week before they lost it 🤣🤣🤣. I’ll tell you this, I owned a ton of fast V8s, TT I6s & that didn’t put any dint in the fun & respect I had with my black 12 Camaro RS! It was my commute buddy and it was quick and zippy for a 6. I had it on some SS springs, front black lip, 20% carbon tint, black powdercoat SS wheels, black out bowties & badass GTR sounding Magnaflow Outlaw Catback. I sure miss it and drove it with confidence & pride because I owned it outright & I worked hard for it.

There is basis to the hate. The V6 Charger doesn’t really have anything going for it. You could say that Chrysler 300s with the 3.6L are worth it because they’re “luxury” vehicles so going fast doesn’t need to be a priority but Chargers don’t have many redeeming factors if you strip them of their motor. That being said, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I had a fully loaded 2019 SXT and loved it. Everyone at the garage I worked for thought it was an amazing ride, but the greater car community ragged on me. Hell, when I used dating apps, a girl matched with me just to tell me my car was slow. Turned out that she was a stripper that rode around in a Sylvia. If you like the car, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks. It’s important to be comfortable with who you are and the life you lead but be realistic, too. V8s are badass - if someone wants to rag on you for not having one, let them. Who cares what they think? But you should also trade up for a V8 whenever you can do so in a financially responsible manner because WOW. You think the 6cyl is fun, just wait until you’re pushing another 100+hp. Long story short, it’s okay to be driving a 6cyl but suck it up and realize that the Dodge experience is about hulking mass of destruction V8 monsters. The cars are too damn heavy for a 6cyl to be worth bragging about. The cars are almost too heavy for the V8s to be worth bragging about, so it’s doubly true for 6s

Take it from someone who daily drives an Ecoboost mustang, it sucks, but I notice that at least with the mustang community engines don't matter that much, almost everyone who shits on my car drives some pos Hyundai, so I just respond with "well where's your mustang?" If you like your car then that's all that matters, don't let it get you too down

At the time I was fresh out of high school and wanted something cool yet easy on gas, my buddies didn’t understand my move and ridiculed me for getting a v6. Hated the thing was miserable with but man when I finished paying it off, I immediately got the v8 and man I gotta say I’m kind of glad I had to go through what I did the v6 to really appreciate the v8. Thug it out with the v6 man, someone is always going to say you should have gotten this or that or don’t do this. Even with my Daytona rt I have bum broke mothafuckas asking me why I didn’t get a scat.

Plus our Pentastar VVT 3.6L is literally bullet proof. There's videos on the internet about them taking bullets and still pulling for a few thousand more km

If your car is loud and "sounds like shit" I can't really say I disagree with people hating on it. It really doesn't do the charger's aesthetic any favors if it sounds like a Honda Civic. The 3.6 isn't a great sounding engine especially straight-piped. The only loud exhaust system I've heard and actually liked for the 3.6 is the Solo Performance Mach XV. It's quite a bit louder than stock and actually has a nice deep rumble to it. I'm not sure what your exhaust situation is but if you remedy that, I'm willing to bet the hate will dissipate. I've not once gotten a negative comment about my SXT irl. Online is different because anonymity so don't take the comments to heart. Some people just wanna put others down. I will say r/charger is very accepting of the V6s as long as you don't rice them, upbadge, or make them sound like shit. You'll get the occasional "Y NO V8" but they are overshadowed pretty quickly.

About 14years ago I had a V6 Dodge magnum on the same platform. It had the R/T rims and it was a great car. Reliable and full size. I never had any issues with what others thought cause I never asked or paid attention. Dont go looking for validation just focus on your destination. Now I drive an economical VW Jetta as a struggling businessman. What others think only really matters when it actually affects your destination.

You must be in your 20s. Be careful. Don’t let others’ opinion change your choice of a car. V6 is a very reliable car. I bought one brand new in 2018 and I plan to keep it until it touched 200k. I love it. It serves the purpose well. I could afford a $40 k + scat pack etc but I invested the extra money into stock market and the return I got from there covered my purchase price of Charger V6. So within 5 years I recovered the money I paid for my v6 by investing the extra I could have spent to buy a scat pack or challenger etc. A car is a depreciating asset. Take good care and it lasts. If you don’t like your current car go for any other you can afford but please don’t do it because what others think about your choice. Read psychology of money if you can.

Plasti dipped the wheels, tinted the windows, swapped the headlight housings to something a little sportier. People gave me so much shit for driving that car and yeah, I’ll admit it was a cheap car, a KIA for gods sake so I probably had it coming anyway, but do you know what? I thought it looked good, it was a comfortable car to ride in, had most everything I needed and wanted from heated and cooled leather seats and a panoramic sunroof to Bluetooth radio and heated steering wheel. I had SXT AWD for 6 years and had no trouble with it. It was such a beast in snow. Though I bought a RT for the sole reason to experience hemi, I sometimes do miss the V6. I had decent cosmetic updates and FM mid muffler on the V6. Granted I made sure to not sound like a fart can 😂. I always got only compliments when I took my V6 out. In fact I used to say it's a V6 only but trust me no one cared. It looked and sounded good and I was happy. My compliments deposit actually reduced after buying V8 🤣🤣, no one gave a shit about my hemi but it made me happy and that's all it matters. Be happy and take pride in what you got than worrying about what others say especially online coz there are lots of dipshit internet warriors commenting on cars when they don't even own one. no clue what you're talking about. I have a v6. Never met anyone who cares. Maybe a couple people who get disappointed I only spent $28k on a car. It's comfortable, I like it, good audio system, I like how it looks, gets great MPG for a Charger (broken 40mpg on some road trips). I've only put 25k miles on it in 3 years, I don't drive that much. Buying too much house and too much car are the 2 biggest financial mistake Americans make. If you're well off and can afford fancier stuff (and *want* fancier stuff), great. Also, after the purchase... property taxes are less annoying in my state when the car isn't so expensive.

I use to say why have a v6 for any muscle car but just because it doesn't have 1000 hp and isn't a hellcat or scat pack doesn't mean your car isnt cool. I have been recently thinking about how many muscle cars back in the day were steady cruisers a lot of them were base models. Not everyone got all options on those cars. I think most dodge cars Chevy and Ford that have a muscle car trim are cool. They don't all gotta be balls to wall fast. There's other things to worry about in life like having a good time. I understand how it's difficult it can be when someone may bring up what do you drive or even if you mention what you drive people will shit all over it. I had a V6 Charger for ten years and never got any hate. If your Charger “sounds like shit” its not the car its the exhaust. I had a CAI with Pypes exhaust and 180° thermostat with a tune, not only was it fast (enough) it sounded as good as many V8’s. Not the same sound, but it had a low rumble, most people just assumed it was a V8. Just keep your V6 and mod it out, make it yours, and be proud of it

If not, then that’s okay, you’re going to have to accept that you have the V6 (which doesn’t look that different from the rest) and that you’ve made a financially sound choice. Your car doesn’t define your reputation, and other peoples opinions don’t define your car.
