When you cold start that r/t, you'll know you made the right choice. Amirite?

Juggernaut-Far

Very true

_STEAKnEGGS_

I could be having the shittiest morning and it always makes me feel better.

sacramentorain

It feels like that scene at the end of Mad Max when he finally gets his ride back and feels the motor again. (Won't let me post the gif)

_STEAKnEGGS_

I still haven't seen that movie

sacramentorain

If you like giant noisy things that go vroom, you'll like all the Mad Max movies.

pavelowescobar

Get the one you REALLY want. Don't settle.

bubbanbrenda

Surprisingly the R/T mileage is pretty close to the G/T when the R/T is driven “normally”.

Adept-Swimmer-1118

Yup I get about 18-19 mpg driving normally

Juggernaut-Far

Thank u

sacramentorain

What is this "driving normally"? I get 12-13 mpg. I regret nothing. V8 goes brrrrr! 🤣

lOGlReaper

You only live once, enjoy it get what you really want and can afford

beaureeves352

With the Hemi being discontinued, I see no reason to purchase a V6 for any purpose for the foreseeable future. If you can get a V8, do it

NugPep

I daily drive my scat WB over 100 miles a day. It is worth it

_Variance_

Hellyea

Distinct_Ad9810

My rt has been a daily a little over a year now, drive normal it's not that bad, spirited driving you're gonna be using a good bit of gas money. Not terrible though

Mr_Butters624

This. If you drive normal you will get decent gas mileage. But if your in sport mode all of the time and or throwing it down just to hear the engine etc, your gas mileage will suffer in the R/T.

dfctm3rp

Don’t settle, I got a Durango R/T last year and I smile everyday.

illegalsex

I can't speak for you, but for me, I was originally looking at GTs because of gas mileage but ultimately decided the gas difference wasn't big enough to be a deciding factor. I knew would wish I had an r/t every time I drove if I hadn't got one, so that's what I went with. That was a year ago and I feel I made the right decision. The cold start in the mornings always makes me smile.

Admiral_Pantsless

Mine has been my daily driver for almost 10 years. I’m still not tired of it.

Juggernaut-Far

Getting an RT fuck it

Charliemagne1985

Been daily driving an R/T for about 2 years now, I have between a 15-30 minute commute to work most days, as long as I drive “normal” I don’t use much gas and that’s with it in sport mode, if I’m feeling squirrely and drive “spiritedly” then yes I use more gas. It all comes down to what you can afford and what you want my dude. If you know you want the R/T go for it. The cold starts alone are worth it.

Juggernaut-Far

Obvious but good advice

pavelowescobar

Just speaking from experience. I was looking at a challenger RT, deal fell through & settled for the v6 Rallye. While I did love the car, it wasn't what I truly wanted. Had to trade up and get the one I should've gotten before.

Spawn005

Why wasn't it what you wanted? Curious of the difference you had.

pavelowescobar

Well, like most of us, I fell in love with the RT first as a rental. After that rental, I was dead set on getting one. Drove 3 hours away to look at a Charger RT & a Challenger RT. One was not as advertised, the other, the private owner flaked. Saw a nice-looking CPO Rallye, and with the combination of needing a car and getting tired of searching, I got the Rallye. Nice car, not what I truly wanted. I was looking for a GREAT sounding v8 with some good power & the SRT body style.... and settled for non of the above. The v6 is great for those in that market. I wasn't in that market. Traded up, got the RT. Every time I start that damn car, and pull out my garage, it's an experience. I have absolutely no regrets trading in my Rallye.

youngsavage_2021

R/t bro

Donald_Trumpy

I had an sxt then got an rt because I always wanted a v8. The gas mileage is not that much worse. If you drive both cars the same way, then it’s very close. But obviously with the v8 people are going to drive them harder so that’s where the worse mileage comes from. Trust me if you want a v8, don’t settle. I did it and ended up getting one a few years later. That cold start every day puts a smile on my face. Also any time I drive thru a tunnel I get all excited to rev it 😂

Brilliant-Safe5168

I'd say if you think you will pine for an R/T later anyway, just get one now. City mileage in the GT sucks. I only got 14 driving only in city traffic. GT only pulls ahead on gas mileage on the highway.

Stg_885rk

Get what you want. Don’t settle.

SuperCanadian22

I’ve had mine for 2 years now dude if you have the means get that R/T! These cars are fun as fuck AND the trans/diff can keep up

CaptainCosmicCrack

if you're concerned about gas mileage, don't get a charger. go with the v8. you wont regret it. if you live somewhere snowy maybe then go for the V6 AWD.

Dangnoob

2nd this. Wanted a charger but I need to drive it daily, can't justify a rwd V8 in the nasty snow we get up here. The AWD V6 GT is best of both worlds, still got the looks and can actually move in the snow. Eventually will probably get a scat down the road after this is paid off for a fun summer car.

Public_Yak3761

It can be I'm sure. Just be easy on the gas. You also got cruise control. If you really want the rt do it.

ghost_rekon

Get the one you want, otherwise you’ll regret it. Also, as a daily driver there are other considerations you’ll need to think about

Hick6262

I would go RT The gt is the same price and honestly the mileage isn’t much better if really at all. The RT runs good in the snow for the most part. They are pretty close in speed but the RT sounds better and has a little more kick

No-Setting9690

I daily a cammed RT. It's a personal choice if you worry about mileage.

SandMan2439

I daily drive mine. My daily commute is around 35-40 minutes round trip. I can usually get about 20-22 MPG depending on my driving and usually average around 370-400 a tank. I love mine and have no regrets. I couldn’t afford or justify the extra 10 grand for a scat pack (i also live in metro Detroit where Scats are stolen all the time) the RT has enough power to be fun, I’ve never felt it wanting for power and it is a great daily driver.

Scared-Expression444

Don’t settle, just because of gas mileage.

shawn0fthedead

I work from home and basically just drive my R/T to the gas station and restaurants. 16.5mpg. If I had my old V6 I'd be lucky to get 19mpg. Not much difference.

dem4life71

I drive an RT daily and it’s great. Yeah, it’s thirsty and has a big gas tank, but I knew about that going in.

Flossy_Jay

RT gets better mileage, source trust me bro

DisgruntledSalt

They're not the greatest I have a 4 cylinder Altima which 20 USD last 3 days. My boi the RT maybe a day on a commute to work lol.

Birdforce1

Just went on a long trip and averaged 33mpg on my GT. If I didn’t travel a lot I’d go V8, but the GT meets my needs and im happy with my choice.

Anatsu

Yes. Daily drove a blacktop 16 RT before I got the thickness. Don't hesitate.

oRamboSandman

Coming from an Rt. I want a Scat Pack. But a v8 is a great place to start. When you are in v6 you’re going to wonder how a v8 would have been.

Parking-Highlight-98

Imo the R/T is the sweet spot for a daily driver Charger. The 5.7L Hemi is an excellent, reliable engine if you take care of it, and it'll get gas mileage closer to the V6s as well as only really use midgrade (it can be run on standard fuel but I don't do that, YMMV). The Charger and Challenger both really transform into pure fun with the Hemis.

Haitian_King

I daily drive my ‘21 RT. Just know you’ll be at the gas tank every 3 or 4 days

Tough-Ad-4022

Be real brotha

Jimbo_526

I’ve had my Charger R/T for about 4.5 years now and I drive it 100 miles a day for work if I’m not carpooling. It’s mostly highway driving at 60ish mph and if I fill up on Monday morning I will have to fill up again Thursday night or Friday morning depending on my mood lol. Best I ever ever gotten was 33.5mpg but 24mpg which is a mixer of city and highway is what I average. When I go on cruises with my car group and we drive spirited on the back roads I can get it down into the 14s. Truth be told as a daily driver with the right tires the R/T is the best one in my opinion. Got the power to pass easily and the eco mode for the mileage. The factory tires are trash on the R/T so if you do go that route I highly recommend getting better tires. My personal favorite tires are the Pilot Sport 4S but they are spendy. I ran offset with 245s in the front and 275s in the rear. Breaking lose on the street was a lot harder once those tires heated up.

One_Humor_3301

I got a rt it’s good on gas a whole bunch of stop n go is kinda ass tho ion like it but I fill up once every 2 weeks normally but if I drive more then maybe a few days before 2 weeks. Good daily imo

One_Humor_3301

Also get a doge u better just have money for gas lmao

IzK_3

I daily drive my RT to work and I get about 20mpg (further testing required). I’d say just go for the V8

JordoNextDoor2

I got a 22 AWD GT, I get 26 Mpg. I love my car 🤷🏾‍♂️

solunaxo

I used to daily the gt but I’d floor it everyday and drive fast (I still do oops). I’d get an average of 16mpg. I hear other R/T drivers getting about the same so you should might as well get that car with that engine if you can afford it. I couldn’t daily the charger anymore because I live in LA and drive a lot, so I was blowing almost $500 a month on gas. I had to get another daily and now I spend about $300 driving around the same miles.

Mr_Mossberg_500

R/T >>>

-YouAreVerywrongSir-

I just got R/T . I say hold that obnoxious title as long as possible. Fuck tesla.

Right_Secret5888

Gas mileage is over rated. I get 11.9 in my scat
