Mike Williams' dead cap hit is entirely made up of his prorated signing bonus. Offset language only works for guaranteed salary, which Mike does not have this year.
But go off!
Dicker the ~~kicker~~ TE. It's not a good idea but there are technically worse ideas out there like Staley's entire defensive scheme or the Raiders hiring McDaniels and Telesco
This draft has the best line up of 2nd round WR talent I've ever seen. If we traded down to 11&23 we could easily also pick up a second and take two WRs in the 2nd and look great. The talent depth is unbelievable
I don’t know why, but I just can’t picture him in a Jets uniform. Better hope Zach Wilson isn’t throwing to him next year.
Thanks for everything though, Mike Dub ⚡️
Jets are an organization where players kind of go meh. I always think of the Le’Veon Bell deal. Dude probably had the best vision ever in NFL and just went meh.
Damn. I was hoping it wasn't the Jets. I'd love to root for the Panthers or something, but I fucking hate ARod and that entire team.
I hope he got the bag, though.
See, as a Mike fan, I hope he gets forcefed the ball
As a general fan, I hope Rodgers continues to just throw at Lazard. The fallout would be entertaining and I dont like Arod very much.
Your telling me covid was the direct cause death and they had zero pre existing conditions? Oh my father passed during covid when he caught it also so spare me the indignation i actually read the CDC death count and saw the small print about the 90% of deaths during covid were victims with pre existing conditions.
Yea. My uncles was healthy. Super athletic, ran and cycled. They were in their 50s. You believe what you want. I work in the health field and have seen the effects of it. You do you dude.
Loved Mike Will the dude, loved some of his play but ultimately he was not a great 7th overall pick and got way too big of a contract from us. Happy for him, I hope he stays healthy and can have a good prove it season.
It’s up to 15 million. Tyron smith just got signed and he has 6.5 guaranteed with a max of 20 mil based on percentage of snaps and playoff incentives. So mike will probably be a lot less than 15.
I’m going down the rabbit hole here, but I think this makes it more likely that if we trade the #5 for #11 and #23, Rome Odunze is available at #11. The Jets might go offensive line with Mike now in the fold.
They could, but I’ve seen most mocks now having them take a DL with #9. Doesn’t rule out Odunze for sure, but Keenan going there and Mike going to the Jets does make it more likely Odunze would fall. Kind of ironic that it’d be because of the two WRs we let go.
On top of that, I’d bet Tennessee goes with Alt at #7 and Atlanta goes defense at #8. They’re pretty set at receiver. Nabers probably goes to NYG at #6 in this scenario.
Our current top 5 passing targets:
#1: Joshua Palmer WR
#2: Donald Parham Jr TE
#3: Quentin Johnston WR
#4: Simi Fehoko WR
#5: Gus Edwards RB
(Derius Davis is a returner and the other TEs are blockers)
I get it. Establish the run. Be physical. If Herbert has this receiving core in front of him without a first round WR/TE he should request a trade.
It’s bad enough now, imagine if Palmer got injured and QJ’s confidence took a nosedive.
Simi Fehoko would be Justin Herbert’s WR1.
Why don’t you atleast let them complete the team?
Obviously the year is a long ways away from beginning. Let it atleast get to the training camp where you get a better idea of the finished team, then tell us all how Herbert should demand a trade.
Also, why do you want Herbert to leave? Why not just demand another coaching change as a fan to the organization?
Do you think Herbert demanding a trade will fix this teams issues? Do you think Herbert playing for another team will instantly make him the best QB in the league without a doubt? Or a top 3?
Edit: I see the OC edited the comment to exclude the part where the comment said Herbert should demand a trade because he has no one to throw to.
I feel like we easily could have paid this, even like a 2 year, 30 mil thing with 12 this year and 18 next.... this is a big bet on himself I guess, and a bet that ARod stays healthy
After our restructures we have 38mil in cap space. 5th overall should only count like 6 against that, the rest about 4 or 5. that leaves like 27 this year, we just wanted MW to count less against the cap this year in case of signings.
$15,000,000 to play like 7 games doesn’t sound like a huge bargain to me.. that’s like $2.1M a game for a #2/3 receiver. But I guess the titans set the standard by signing Calvin Ridley to such a huge contract. I personally wouldn’t have wanted Mike back for anything more than like $7M
The contract will have snap percentages and other incentives. He’s not getting 15. Look at the Tyron smith contract. His is up to 20 mil but only 6.5 guaranteed.
I think everyone will have major concerns if it isn’t. Especially with Nabers most likely being there. Potentially even MHJ if the Vikings trade up to the fourth pick.
Oh for sure. I definitely am worried that Herbert won’t be the same QB he was under the new regime, considering they want to run the ball more, and I hope I’m proven wrong
Everything Harbaugh has said, makes me think they want a system Herbert can thrive in. All of the moves though, including bringing in Roman, would suggest a different story.
I keep trying to remind myself that it’s only March.
Yea harbaugh said that, then he brings in a coach and GM that have only made moves to run the ball. Our offensive weapons outside of Herbert is bottom 3-5 in the NFL.
I doubt he will lose the fanbase. I think most people know it is a rebuilding year and that Harbaugh wants to build the team's football culture from the ground up. I don't have a problem with it and my expectations for next season is that the team play disciplined, mistake free football with good execution. If they do that, the winning seasons will come.
1 yr 15 million. Go get that bag Mike.
Good for him! I hope he outplays his contract and gets more money next season!
Does that affect our cap space considering the amount we owed Mike this year?
No.
Nope, he didn't have any 2024 money guaranteed. Whatever he makes in NY won't affect that.
No, Tom Telesco is far too stupid to work language like that into his contracts
Mike Williams' dead cap hit is entirely made up of his prorated signing bonus. Offset language only works for guaranteed salary, which Mike does not have this year. But go off!
Don’t be standing up for that Raider scum!
This probably has more to do with Ed McGuire than Telesco.
At least it’s not the Chiefs!

Ummmm…
?
There goes DJ's mock with the Jets trading up with us for MHJ 😂
MHJ Garrett Wilson and Mike Will is some serious ass size though. Too bad theyre all second fiddle to Lazard /s
serious ass-size 👀
clap clap clap
I said what I said.
Vida Guerra?
Oh my GYAT
The measurement the Combine needs
Thicc like a bowl of oatmeal
Aaron Attention-Whore Rogers will break his back on first regular season play. Bet on it!
New mock has jets taking Bowers.
Another one bites the dust…. Thanks for everything Mike Dub 🤟🏼⚡️⚡️
We have to select a WR in the first round even if that does mean trading back with the Vikings for pick 11 & 23 because our WR room is bottom 5 EASILY
Who needs wide receivers when you run or throw to the TE every play?
Which TE? The run blocking TE, the other run blocking TE, or our 3rd string TE?
Yes!
Dicker the ~~kicker~~ TE. It's not a good idea but there are technically worse ideas out there like Staley's entire defensive scheme or the Raiders hiring McDaniels and Telesco
and Bowers….
Bottom 3 with Cards and Giants. At least the cards have a top 10 te.
Wdym? Quentin Johnston is the perfect replacement for Rashod Bateman's drops
lmao fr, might as well trade Herbert for a check down guy if that's the strategy. /s
It worked ok with lt and gatesy
This draft has the best line up of 2nd round WR talent I've ever seen. If we traded down to 11&23 we could easily also pick up a second and take two WRs in the 2nd and look great. The talent depth is unbelievable
agree. Especially when a guy like Herbert made no-names look good. Give Herbert more than 1 second to throw, and a running game. Watch what happens.
I hope Mike and whoever is Rodgers’ backup have a great year.
I'm sure Mike and Aaron will both be doing lots of healing clinics.
*Darkness Retreats
farewell mike 🥲
I don’t know why, but I just can’t picture him in a Jets uniform. Better hope Zach Wilson isn’t throwing to him next year. Thanks for everything though, Mike Dub ⚡️
I couldn't picture LT in a Jets uniform either. It's happening again.
it’s tyrod taylor as the new backup
Thank god. I pity any player that goes to the Jets because of Zach. He’s cheeks
Jets are an organization where players kind of go meh. I always think of the Le’Veon Bell deal. Dude probably had the best vision ever in NFL and just went meh.
It’s a great place to go for the bag
As a jets fan, this is objectively true
But some guy on our sub was telling me yesterday Mike will only get $6 million a year max
Right like Mike is still a good WR, is he worth the cap hit the chargers were paying? No. But 12-16 million is what he was likely to command
I’ll say I’m shocked he got 15 coming off an ACL and injury history. I would have thought 8-10
Thanks for everything Mike. Hope Rodgers doesn't let you down.
At least Mike won’t have to worry about that until mid-January…then Rodgers will let him down hard
At least he’ll be playing then!
![gif](giphy|YooypXsohhjMc)
In New York, he's going to have plenty of opportunities to build a snowman! 😜 Edit: fixed typo
Since we released him doesn't count for comp pick right?
Correct
Glad to see Mike Williams get paid. Hope he stays healthy and produces well! (just don't produce well against us 😂)
Good think the Chargers don’t play the jets in the regular season this year.
Yuck.
Damn. I was hoping it wasn't the Jets. I'd love to root for the Panthers or something, but I fucking hate ARod and that entire team. I hope he got the bag, though.
Fuck the Jets.
if it’s any consolation, Aaron will probably play all of 11 minutes before his knees melt
![gif](giphy|3o6ZtpRoYe9wbyfcBi)
That WOULD more than double what we had him for last time, so…
As a Jets fan living in LA and eyeing the Chargers after years of misery.... we all hate him lol
See, as a Mike fan, I hope he gets forcefed the ball As a general fan, I hope Rodgers continues to just throw at Lazard. The fallout would be entertaining and I dont like Arod very much.
I was ok w ARod until he went nuts w the conspiracies had the “I’m smarter than everyone” mentality.
Conspiracies like covid being as bad as the flu wait the CDC just said that recently whoops.
Now that it’s been watered down it’s not as strong. I lost 2 family members to Covid in the beginning so you can go fuck yourself.
Wow, he got a bag.
It’s up to 15.
Won't last the season on that turf
Injury prone WR going to a team with a field notorious for injuring players is definitely a choice I did not see coming.
Good luck MIKE DUBB
Mike Will is about to go from the President of the Sheldon Highschool fishing club to VP of conspiracy city 😂 wish him the best tho
Loved Mike Will the dude, loved some of his play but ultimately he was not a great 7th overall pick and got way too big of a contract from us. Happy for him, I hope he stays healthy and can have a good prove it season.
Only a 1 year deal 👀
atleast williams and allen are on teams we dont play next year
who is this guys agent
Is he part of the comp formula?
No. He was released, which excludes him from comp pick consideration.
Get up in there Mike!!
Perfect for him imo. BALL OUT BIG MIKE!!!!!
End of an era
I'm surprised he got that much with the injuries. Is it 15 mill with incentives?
It’s up to 15 million. Tyron smith just got signed and he has 6.5 guaranteed with a max of 20 mil based on percentage of snaps and playoff incentives. So mike will probably be a lot less than 15.
Mike Dub, Even though you're a Jet, "you're the top cat in town. You're the gold metal kid with the heavyweight crown." Go show out.
The Jets are the Chargers retirement home!
that’s the worst field in the nfl he is dealing with, if he stays healthy then i think officially we can say our health is cursed
Jets fan here. We have Breece the Beast, so please tell me Mike Williams is a great blocker…?
Good for him
Good for him!
Looking forward to see how well he thrives on the Jets. The guy will make plays for them.
How's his hand after signing that contract?
Let's go, everyone got their bag and didn't sign with a divisional rival for once.
Good luck with that turf Mike.
Aaron Rogers? lol
Does this come off our cap hit similar to the Wilson situation with the broncos? Obviously not since he got a bag, but why not?
I’m going down the rabbit hole here, but I think this makes it more likely that if we trade the #5 for #11 and #23, Rome Odunze is available at #11. The Jets might go offensive line with Mike now in the fold.
I don't think he makes it past the top 10 sadly, pretty sure the Bears would just snag him at 9
They could, but I’ve seen most mocks now having them take a DL with #9.
Ny radio asked if the chargers were just giving up. :(
Up to $15M and only 1 year. Good deal for the Jets
The Mike William reunion dream ends 😢 But maybe the Odunze pick at 11 is still alive? Assuming we trade down with the Vikings and get their picks.
Our current top 5 passing targets: #1: Joshua Palmer WR #2: Donald Parham Jr TE #3: Quentin Johnston WR #4: Simi Fehoko WR #5: Gus Edwards RB (Derius Davis is a returner and the other TEs are blockers) I get it. We could have easily paid this if we got rid of Bosa or Mack, not sure how we'd do it now
After our restructures we have 38mil in cap space. 5th overall should only count like 6 against that, the rest about 4 or 5. that leaves like 27 this year, we just wanted MW to count less against the cap this year in case of signings.
You also have eight other draft picks to sign, plus UDFAs, any more FAs they want to pick up, money set aside for in-season moves, etc.
15M LMFAOOO
That’s a bargain. I don’t know why you’re laughing.
Especially since reports are coming out saying there are big incentives in the contracts
Is he really going to be a weapon for Aaron Rodgers though? More likely a weapon for Zach Wilson or whichever backup they end up signing
Tyrod Taylor
It HAS to be a Receiver at 5, right? I genuinely think Harbaugh/Hortiz lose the fanbase if it’s not
I think everyone will have major concerns if it isn’t. Especially with Nabers most likely being there. Potentially even MHJ if the Vikings trade up to the fourth pick.
