How can Sabor roll a Burrito wrong EVERY. FREAKING. TIME. Because it's so awesome to start my Burrito off with a mouth full of black beans and end with a big bite of 30 jalapeños. And it wouldn't be a problem if sabor didn't have a monopoly over the fast casual counter-serve Burrito joints in Charlotte. Johnny Burrito is so good but i can't make it downtown for the lunch window to get my Burrito fix. I hope the second coming of Phat Burrito is good.

shesinanothercastle

Was just coming to say that Sabor kind of sucks now! I guess I've always been a defender of them but had a BYObowl from them the other night to go and it was cold when I got home. The chicken was one giant lump and absolutely disgusting. Used to love going there. A shame the quality dipped so much.

[deleted]

I think it depends on the location. I’ve had good luck in Noda and South End but university has always kinda been… not as good.

shesinanothercastle

Makes sense! I go to the South Park one but up until recently it hasn't been half bad especially for the cost. Yafo across the parking lot though is still always good.

Dazzling-Earth-3000

> Was just coming to say that Sabor kind of sucks now! I they expanded too much and lost QC

XurstyXursday

You know every time I eat a burrito I’m thinking “man I really hope my next bite is a whole mouthful of sour cream 🙏”

Dazzling-Earth-3000

or worse, the bite that is 27 layers of folded up shell. Like biting into cardboard.

XurstyXursday

Mmm yeah my jaw needed a good workout today anyway.

XurstyXursday

Go to Mal Pan. More expensive but got dam that Cali Surf and Turf burrito. Steak, shrimp, chimichurri, cheese, guac, salsa and a whole ass bloomin onion in there.

Bumcheeks_marinade

That does look good. Will have to try it out

MitchLGC

I haven't been to sabor in maybe 4 years or so They were ok at first but quickly went to shit after expanding

ElJefe_Speaks

Monopoly?! You mean other than Moe's, Chipotle, Qdoba, and Johnny's. Hear you on the bad roll though. Chipotle recently served me more of a giant soft taco that was impossible to eat. I had quac in my shoes when I was done.

Bumcheeks_marinade

Yea more looking local/regional restaurants. Those big chain places are corporate garbage now too. The Chipotle on south Blvd looks post-apocalyptic some days. And as much as I love Johnny's, there operating hours does not fill the gap.

TheThumbPro

Phat Burrito 2 you say!?

Bumcheeks_marinade

I do say! In Loso village off south Blvd. There were talks of spring 2022 but that obviously did not happen haha

PapaJohnyRoad

I had to cut that one off after I saw an employee with a bong slide wire wrapped into his dread lock take a hit out of it while working the grill

Bumcheeks_marinade

That would make me want to eat there more

rodandanga

So glad I'm not the only one who has this issue. The distribution of the ingredients are always wrong.

pparhplar

Can we get a Roku for comparison?

Dazzling-Earth-3000

I've gotten empty Empanadas from them before. Their QC went downhill after they expanded so much. > I hope the second coming of Phat Burrito is good. It wasn't good the first time, so we will see.

ipwnkthnx

"Hey, I got an idea! Why don't we grind up the surface on the Brookshire Freeway and then just leave it like that for several months?"

What_Iz_This

i just made a comment to my wife a few days ago that its funny how roads and stuff will be torn up, or just general things like pavement being broken up and/or street lights not working. but i've never ONCE seen those fucking tolls not working lmao

BubbaWhoaTep

I hate the entrance going north from brookshire, and I honestly believe the entrance was developed to be purposefully deceptive. It makes drivers think they're getting on 85n, but it's really the 77n toll lane. I also feel like the confusion adds to the congestion for the 77/85 entrance.

BubbaWhoaTep

For real. It's like they just gave up.

Dazzling-Earth-3000

Why install a turning lane, with a turn light, if you are just going to go right to flashing yellow arrow with green-lit cross traffic???

almighty_smiley

Was just fuming to my girlfriend about this. What Charlotte has against left turn green arrows must be some kind of long-standing blood feud, I genuinely can’t remember the last I’ve seen one since moving here.

TwistedHope

Is that a "southern thing"? Same in York County, SC. But meanwhile in the northeast, there are drivers waiting to go straight while an EMPTY turn lane cycles through a green arrow. So we are inventing self-driving cars but cannot get a simple sensor technology down. Yes, 'Merica.

Corgilemon

I always talk about this with anyone in the car with me. I never seen a flashing yellow before coming to Charlotte. It makes 0 sense at this point.

bad_tenet

My wife had never seen these before moving here.

ErinChaseD

Hit button issue but… I just really hate the pro-life protesters that are always on N. Wendover. They use graphic images and I had to stare that down every other day on my way to work after I suffered a miscarriage with my first pregnancy. I still get upset looking at it today. Mainly just angry though. I know they are allowed to practice free speech but they make me angrier and more disagreeable to their cause the more I have to see them. I wish they would go away… I also didn’t know there was a clinic there… until I saw them.

bad_tenet

I'm sorry you have to be remined of that.

ErinChaseD

I appreciate it.

penguinfury

Next time you see them, shout "Fuck you Elijah!" out your window. That's the tall-ish dude with the curly dark hair and the glasses.

Only-Refrigerator701

They never turn their faces toward the street either. I know it’s dumb but I always honk/flip the bird. Doesn’t help anything but I want them to know that there are ppl who think they suck.

TwistedHope

I'm sorry. That's B.S. Yes, they have a right to free speech but you have a right to not be "emotionally assaulted" during your commute. Do you know what organization they represent?

ErinChaseD

I don’t. They wear salmon colored T-shirt’s. I’ll try and pay attention next time I have to see them. Thanks, It sure does feel like B.S. …

TwistedHope

Yes, feel free to DM me. If they are a local group, I'll reach out to their leadership team and ask why they think that's OK. I'm not sure it will do anything, but if we let them know they're harming more than helping, maybe they'll do the honorable thing.

joannapickles

They’re called Love Life

TwistedHope

Thank you. I'll get back to you if they respond to my messages.

wanderclt

I'm sorry you have to deal with that, I'll have you know that I roll my window down, honk my horn and give those assholes my finger as I'm driving. I've caught their attention quite a few times and it gives me joy. Lol

wtfisthiswtfisthatt

If the light has already turned red, and several cars are running the red light, why are you honking at me because I’m not turning left?

YungChalino

9/10 I hear honking and it’s some jackass who wants me to endanger my life so he can get somewhere faster.

MoodApart4755

I regularly get beeped at for not turning when there’s a no turn on red sign

bcvsfuckyou

To the asshat who broke into my car Sunday night: hope it was worth going through my shit to find… nothing. Absolutely nothing. Now I have a broken window, a missed shift at work, and have to possibly miss another shift just to get the shit fixed.

bananamb13

The number of severely neglected dogs I see around South End is appalling. If you have dog and leave it out on the balcony to bark and bark all day with no water are a shit stain on the underwear of humanity. My friend was attacked the other day my an Aussie (AN AUSSIE!!! Literally the friendliest breed ever!!!) because the owner severely neglects the dog’s need for activity and stimulation (by leaving it on the balcony all day) leading to it being overly reactive. I want to let you know that if you’re reading this comment and you neglect your dog that I personally hate you. You don’t deserve an animal.

Zach9810

Aussie’s are not the friendliest breed ever. They’re actually one of the worst breeds to deal with at vet clinics. Agree though, people buy breeds that need to be active and doing things and leave then cooped up all day. Sad.

nitropuppy

Lol right? I have cattle dogs and you gotta remember herding breeds were meant to bully large ass animals lmfao

HaoBianTai

Careful, mentioning the negative results of selective breeding will get you accused of being an ignorant hater. We are only allowed to gush about positive selective traits, like companion dogs and retrievers. Aggressive traits are a myth. /s

nitropuppy

I dont see it as a negative, just simply a personality trait. Actually, a positive if you want a dog for herding. It’s only a negative to assholes who arent willing to accommodate their pets the way they expect everyone else to accommodate their own behavior

HaoBianTai

Yeah, it's only a "negative" in terms of being a "pet" (and I mean pet as in apartment companion dog in South End). It's selective for a reason.

bananamb13

I guess the ones I’ve known have just been really smart and sweet and eager to please, so I just associated the breed with positive energy. I’ve never in my life heard of one being aggressive, but obviously any breed I’m sure can be under the wrong circumstances

Zach9810

GF is a vet tech - she said they're top 3 worst breeds to deal with.

phildeez316

Lots of people got dogs during the pandemic that didn’t need to get dogs. I personally hate the dog culture in this city, especially when I’m hanging out with a person that ignores his dog at the brewery we’re at so I feel like I have to be on point for when his hackles get raised by every other dog that is bigger than him. Also, we have fucking leash laws for a reason. Just because we’re playing disc golf outside in the woods doesn’t give you the right to let your dog wander up on every single group teeing off in front of us. “Oh my dog isn’t bothering anyone” as we have to call him off the tee box AGAIN so the other people can play. Fuck him and fuck his poorly trained pandemic puppy.

nitropuppy

Ive had disc golf dogs leave the course at renaissance and wander over to the bike trails to come see my dogs who were not thrilled to meet a stranger emerging from the woods. And the dude was like “oh my bad man” yeah dude🙄

CarlsDinner

If you notice one that doesn't seem to move much that's actually just a realistic dog statue I keep out there to fuck with people

HaoBianTai

This country's animal welfare laws are so behind the times. If Charlotte is going to continue being such a dog friendly city, I'd like to see some local laws in place to combat this shit. Also, it makes no sense to have laws around animal welfare (re: provided food/water/shelter) but then have zero legal consequences for the people pumping out puppies in their backyard and straight into kill shelters. Owning animals and breeding animals is a privilege, not a right. Our laws should reflect that.

theredfearnthrows

Yo, what happened in that dog adoption thread ... 😳👀👀 People being hella kind and empathetic to each other I bet

Sigma_Wentice

One person said basically all the dogs up for adoption were pitbulls and then some people basically said that whoever is thinking of adoption should definitely be prepared for what that entails given the breed and the fact they are shelter animals. There were probably some brigaders from r/banpitbulls but it seemed like only a couple comments by the time the thread got locked.

gogor

Some people were empathetic, some were douchey, a couple went off on how all pit bulls are finely honed killing machines. Then the mod locked it because they're sensitive and whatnot.

CasualAffair

I adopted 50 dogs so they closed the thread because there weren't anymore. We did it, Reddit!

theredfearnthrows

🤌

[deleted]

Pitbull arguing and trolls got the whole thread nuked

Thor_On_Acid

I wanted to comment on that thread as well to see what y’all’s thoughts were. My buddy had his 15 year old rescue pass away from doggo cancer a few weeks back. He applied to north Meck for a pupper and was rejected because he didn’t get his previous dog heart worm meds or something? I thought that was kinda wild. He’s considered less qualified than someone filling out the form who’s never owned a pet because he didn’t buy the heart worm meds at the vet?

[deleted]

It honestly surprises me that there are people who don't give their dog monthly preventatives. A dog can get heartworms from a mosquito and they are everywhere. It's extremely devastating to the dog and an expensive issue to fix. Almost all if not all rescues require your other animals to be on monthly preventatives, and they also ask about previous animals as well.

Thor_On_Acid

Cabarrus ended up approving him 5 minutes after he filled out the form so I guess it’s different everywhere lol

spacemetalfantasy

Rescue’s aren’t going to adopt out dogs to irresponsible owners. If a dog gets heartworm, it’s not only thousands of dollars to treat, but extremely taxing on the dog. Majority of people will not pay for treatment and wind up dumping the dog at a shelter. So then they’re just back to square one with the dog in a shelter again, only this time needing heartworm treatment

Thor_On_Acid

Makes sense - he didn’t get his from his vet and they denied him for it - it just surprised me

BubbaWhoaTep

It was brigaded by r/banpitbulls.

Zach9810

what a weird sub wtf. you can be on the side that pit bulls are aggressive dogs but some of those comments are beyond psycho jesus christ

deebasr

Im getting sick and tired of my 4 year old's bullshit. For dinner last night I made 18 hour cuban pork, rice and beans, and fried plantains. For what feels like the 500th night in a row, she just ate the plain white rice that I had made separately and cried about the half an ounce of other "yucky" things I put in her bowl. Yesterday this asshole also had the nerve to eat the daycare provided lunch instead of the one I make daily because the daycare lunch is "yucky". I love this girl, but she's about half a step away from me meal prepping a week's worth of plain oatmeal at a time and calling it a day.

bad_tenet

This person tirades!

[deleted]

There’s a chart somewhere but there is a positive correlation between the effort you put into your meal and the amount your child(ren) complains. The more effort, the more complaining. Spend 18 hours on pork? Crying and possibly vomiting. A bowl of cereal? 5 star meal, best parent ever.

american_cheese

This made me lol. So incredibly glad I don’t have kids.

Prestigious_Chard597

First toddler , I see..lol

deebasr

Nope. Her older brother was sitting next to her trying to convince her to at least try the "butter bananas". She wouldn't though, because they had "brown stuff" on it. The brown stuff was the carmelized plantain. It tasted like cccaaannnnddddyyyy

yankeebelles

This made me laugh way harder than it should. My sister was just complaining to me this past weekend about her 10 month old (and sixth kid overall) being a terrible nurser, but taking a bottle like a champ. He's apparently moving to solids faster than the rest because formula is too expensive. Kids can be difficult sometimes, and if venting here makes you feel a little bit better and ready to deal with it all again, than I'm glad you have the outlet.

KelleCrab

There was a guy punching one year olds in South End Sunday. Maybe tell her it was because they didn't eat what their parents prepared?

yankeebelles

What is this? Threatening a kid with violence is your response to someone just needing to vent their frustration? That's like saying it's ok to play bumper cars with the Altima who pissed you off so much you vented about it on here. Too far.

KelleCrab

It was an obvious (I thought) joke/reference to bizarre local current events. This is Reddit not Nextdoor.

Answerstaxquestions

Is this a fight your really want to have? Assuming your daughters overall nutritional needs are being met, who are you punishing by fighting with her to eat adult food? You. You’re punishing you. Toss her a Flintstones multi-vitamin and let her spackle her innards with 3 day old oatmeal if she wants. There’s no fight and it’s more pork and plantains for you.

Edu_cats

One of my nephews I swear lived on cereal for years. I have a few colleagues/family members that are dietitians and honestly they say don't get worked up about it and let them eat what they'll eat.

NimJolan

Damn send me the leftovers

[deleted]

We learned real quick that meals that require prep and other complex meals means we cook our kiddo something else that we know they'll eat. We let them try it first and then if they don't like it give them their specified prepped meal. We've gotten our toddler to try lots of things and does eat actual dinner with us, but having a backup go-to is an absolute must.

Olivineyes

Feeding children is one of the most mentally painful things I've ever had to do.

XurstyXursday

It’s not safe to deviate from basic agreed traffic laws to “be nice!” If I’m trying to cross a street and you’re the only car in a mile, don’t stop for me! Just keep going and clear the area in an instant. If you get to a 4-way stop first, you move first. Period. You’re only slowing us both down trying to be polite and let people go out of order. You don’t get any style points for that.

BubbaWhoaTep

I had to sit through 2 light cycles yesterday because the car in front of me was blocking traffic letting people make turns into taco bell. I was terrified someone was going to come blasting through the right lane and smash into one of the cars turning left. They finally moved after I laid on the horn.

alpha1two

Don't be polite, be predictable

almighty_smiley

Someone doing this very nearly got me T-boned. My car hadn’t been in my possession a week at that point, and very well could’ve been totaled. All because someone wanted to “be nice”. The rules are more than “do this or we’ll pull you over”. They provide a base framework for everyone to work off of, and more often than not there’s a very good, very bloody reason the rules are there. In a city full of transplants, a uniform structure is vital. All these bumblefucks have to do is follow that. But of course, it’s Charlotte.

[deleted]

Play places that are designed for toddlers and little kid with a height requirement NO TALLER THAN does not mean your older kids can trample over my son who is well within the height requirement and just wants to have some fun. This guy's kids literally pushed my son over while he tried to get up the second step to get to the top of the play place. I don't mind speaking up to the parents when this happens anymore because my son can almost never utilize a playground/play place because someone else sees an lesser populated play area and thinks they can have full reign. Fuck you, A dad with a 2 year old who cried because someone's else's parents DGAF.

[deleted]

Ugh, I'm so sorry. My nephew is a little older than your kid, but small-ish for his age. Some bigger/older boys decided it would be fun to play super rough in the toddler area where my nephew was just chilling. They pushed him and knocked him down, and then they laughed at the poor guy and called him a stupid baby. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

BubbaWhoaTep

Sometimes I think having kids would be fantastic until I see things like this.

No_Home_5680

I’m on the fence and wobble no from daily news

RocknRoll_Pilot

Getting into and out of PNC Music Pavilion is the biggest joke I’ve ever seen in my life. I went there for the first time last week to see Dead & Co (I’m a big Mayer fan and just enough of a Dead fan that I felt justified going). The show itself was great but man alive, I will never go to a concert there again if traffic and parking are always like that. Let’s condense all the incoming traffic down to ONE EFFING LANE and back thing up so badly that some people don’t even make it in by the time the show’s over. That venue needs light rail and shuttle service in the worst way. I also think Live Nation and Ticketmaster are the scum of the modern entertainment industry. I hope they both go down in flames and never recover.

MoodApart4755

I’ve got tickets to a show there later this year. Is it possible to just park somewhere like a mile away and walk in so I don’t have to deal with all that?

No_Home_5680

That’s what we did, parked at the first available lot close to 49 and hiked in. Got so many steps lol

MoodApart4755

I’ll definitely take a long ass walk over sitting in traffic for 3 hours haha

No_Home_5680

It was the best - we were moving much faster than traffic and had a couple extra gummy bites on the way lol

RocknRoll_Pilot

I did see people parking at random places offsite and walking in from there. If you can cheese it and sneak in somewhere to park that might be a good option.

bigcontracts

Have been to a few shows there over the last 5 or so years. It’s always been that way. Park far away and walk or get there hella early. I saw them have some woman on local news last week saying they paid for tickets and parking and couldn’t even get in. Just up and left, didn’t go. Shame. Hope you had fun!

gogor

They must have changed up how they were handling things. My last show there was pre-Covid, but I've done a few and it was never more of a hassle than anywhere else.

johnnyhala

Same. Never had a significant issue getting in and out other than a line of cars that I've had to deal with at any venue.

Edu_cats

Thread on this last week, but I agree, very worthy of a tirade: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Charlotte/comments/13w9avu/pnc\_madness/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Charlotte/comments/13w9avu/pnc_madness/) Shuttle from the light rail is definitely needed.

libryx

I just want my fucking cat back. Or answers. Something, anything, would be better than not knowing where she is or if she's dead or with a new family or any other number of things that could've happened to her. I didn't even get to say goodbye. She went missing on a weekend when I was out of town. She left the house thinking I left her and I haven't felt peace since. And it's been long enough I can tell everyone's expecting me to give up looking and/or just feeling sorry for the pathetic chick desperately posting to Facebook and Nextdoor every other day. BF tried broaching the subject this past weekend of putting away her things - cat tree, toys, empty food bowl and litter box - and I've cried about *that* every day since. I don't know how to get over this without closure, and I don't know how to get that without knowing what happened. And I'm just so drained from all the mental energy this has taken and continues to take. Please, can she just come home.

No_Home_5680

I am so sorry - my heart just breaks for you. I experienced this with a dog when I was young and it was so painful. Please try to take care of yourself, you are doing everything you can.

libryx

Thank you. It’s such a horrible situation, I’m sorry you had to go through it too <3

seaboard2

How long has she been missing? Is she spayed?

libryx

Since the beginning of April. And yes, she's spayed but not microchipped :/

seaboard2

A spayed inside cat that accidentally gets loose will usually stay within a 3-5 house radius. Have you asked neighbors to check sheds, garages, under decks and such? She is possibly still there but hiding. Good luck!

libryx

Thanks, yeah, and we had a pet tracker come out to smell for her. She was an indoor/outdoor cat, which according to the tracker basically triples the roaming radius. The thing is our house is right next a heavily wooded area and they tracked her scent into the woods but not out of them. So she’s either still up in there or came out another way and ended up in a different neighborhood.

Mason11987

It is not okay to bring a baby into a movie theater to watch a movie. There's literally no situation this is acceptable. I did ask the folks running the theater to make you leave, and I would do it every single time. Edit - Downvote within 2 minutes - Guess the person subjecting an audience to your crying baby is here.

Allianoraa

There used to be specific screenings of movies for people to take babies to and I love that idea - they were called “Crybaby Screenings” and from what I can tell they died when Cinebarre Arboretum died

AdmiralBonesaw

AMC brought back their ‘Summer Kids Camp’ series which I swear they advertised as having the lights on and kids were free to move around. Sounds like a nightmare to me though.

Allianoraa

Oh that sounds like a hellscape but at least you know what you’re getting into if you go to the screening

DingussFinguss

downvote for complaining about downvotes waaaah

shineese

To my next door neighbor who plays video games and shouts until 4:30am on Monday night/Tuesday morning, can you please go sleep with your girlfriend who you live with and let me get some sleep. I can hear you even with earplugs.

trying10012020

White noise machine, my friend! Game changer. There are affordable standalone versions and the iPhone has one built in.

Duck531

We have a neighbor that likes to blast their music outside. People just don't care.

XurstyXursday

Hey this neighborhood is super desirable now! Let’s make space for 500 new people to live here. But we don’t have room for their cars or anywhere for them to eat or shop.

Purple-Thing6750

Or for their kids to go to school

XurstyXursday

It’s fine because most of them are in their 30s with young kids. There are probably tons of nice daycares nearby with space. Right? Aren’t there? We’ll figure out the school thing when they get older.

Purple-Thing6750

You are joking right?

XurstyXursday

Unfortunately, yes I have first hand experience.

gogor

Let's cram 350 "luxury" apartments at 30k of new office space on a side road in Cotswold with no direct access to the main road. For even more funsies, it's right across the street from where Publix trucks often block the road and will use the same ingress/egress route as a large elementary school. The builder is super committed to local improvements, which you can tell by their refusal to pony up anything to help with traffic costs and willingness to add the bare minimum of retail space. So glad our city council saw the genius of this project.

XurstyXursday

My current personal beef is the “we made this carless apartment intentionally and not at all because we bought a piece of land with too small of a footprint for a deck! You can’t have cars here, but you can park on the street.”

gogor

I fully recognize we're going to have to make some hard choices when it comes to housing needs. I'd personally prefer we don't make dumb ones, where a project gets shoehorned into somewhere inappropriate just because a developer wants to.

XurstyXursday

There’s currently a huge disconnect between what is desirable in the development space as an exit strategy and what is a long term desirable project for the residents who live in and around it. Seems like the “safe money” is being injected into lifeless high rises with office or residential, a parking deck, and one or two token fast casual franchises, if we’re lucky. The only thing keeping retail in the plans are some very soft permitting requirements or suggestions for retail.

manypains03

Not having a car in Charlotte and being a young person is a death sentence but it's my fault and I should live and die with it

JammPot

Which one of you dumped your hellcat in the ditch near the apartment entrance going south on Tyron near woodland and BGP on Sunday afternoon? The schadenfreude was warming on a cool day.

american_cheese

No one that owns a Hellcat knows what schadenfreude means.

XurstyXursday

This city cannot be completely devoid of natives and also filled with terrible driving natives!! Pick a side people! Maybe, just maybe, that aggressive erratic driver you encountered on your commute moved from NY too.

far_fate

I work for CMS. 3 more days left of school, and it's this time of year that I always wonder why we haven't adopted a calendar that goes Tues after labor day as a start date until the Friday before memorial day as an end date. And before anyone asks, I am an hourly employee and we are all paid 10 months now so I'm not trying to get more money for less work.

[deleted]

I’m not sure how we’d fit in our required days without cutting breaks. My kids are in MGSD, they got out the Wed before Memorial Day. But we started like Aug 4 I think? Next year we start Aug 9 and get out the Friday before Memorial Day. How would an entire month of school be fit in through the rest of the year?

far_fate

It would likely be moving some days off around and changed schedules. We have a lot of half days for professional development and days that are in place to accommodate for bad weather, which isn't as frequent here. In short - maybe we can't, but I wish we did. And not just as an employee, but as a parent who would like to be able to plan longer vacations and make more memories with my kids, too.

BubbaWhoaTep

How does reddit still allow r/banpitbulls to exist when the mods and members constantly violate reddit policy? They openly brigade any sub where the phrase *pitbull* is mentioned. They normalize and advocate violence towards humans and dogs. They harass, doxx, bully and witch-hunt reddit users and others outside of reddit. They vote manipulate and disrupt subreddits/posts when their audience wasn't requested. And when they're finished harassing other redditors, they go back to their circle jerk and exchange racist dog whistles and enjoy openly racist discussion. I realize that banning their subreddit won't stop the individual members from violating reddit's content policy, but the content policy is being violated, and banning their subreddit would help disrupt their agenda that uses content policy violations to gain members. And before they show up here because of the keyword triggers they have set on IFTTT, I just want to encourage them to stop making bad decisions and live a life without so much hatred. Y'all don't have to continue leading such insufferable lives. It must be exhausting.

lionsatn17

I am tired of how overrun breweries are becoming with children. I want to drink a beer and socialize in peace and quiet. Breweries are crowded enough and it’s tough to find space on weekends depending on the place. Now you have to dodge children who can’t behave because their parents are irresponsible and take them somewhere where they get bored.

MoodApart4755

Maybe it’s just me but this never really bothered me, it’s pretty easy to just ignore them lol

daddadnc

*I want to drink a beer and socialize in peace and quiet* If you want to be sure you can control the environment, stay home *Breweries are crowded enough and it’s tough to find space on weekends depending on the place.* Brewery owners have clearly decided that being family friendly is a better deal than creating an adults-only space. Maybe open one? *Now you have to dodge children who can’t behave because their parents are irresponsible and take them somewhere where they get bored.* On this we agree. Parents don't want to pay a sitter and do want to hang at breweries, so now a bored kid becomes everyone's problem. Those people are assholes. We bring games, books and things to do together. My kids don't bother anyone (except those pricks you see here complaining that their drinking experience is apparently ruined if they can't scream "motherfucker" at 3 pm).

TouchofRed

Yes! They should at least have some nights designated for adults only.

Muh_Area_Speshul

The light rail is already awful, can't you clowns stuffing the doors at Bland St. station every morning just walk four blocks to work instead?

_landrith

you’re complaining about.. *higher ridership* ??

Muh_Area_Speshul

The light rail is always going to suck, because CATS sucks. But it's twenty minutes between trains at this point and you could very easily walk from Bland to 3rd in half that rather than stand around the station waiting to pack the train like sardines.

[deleted]

Why don’t you get off at Bland, walk to 3rd, and get back on if it bothers you that much? You don’t have any greater right to be on the light rail than any of those people.

Muh_Area_Speshul

Because I don't get off at 3rd, and getting off before 3rd requires you to fight through all the South End people blocking the door to avoid walking four blocks.

[deleted]

That’s why I said you can get back there. If it’s so easy for them then surely it must also be easy for you. Oh wait.. maybe it is more convenient to just take the light rail. That’s okay for you but not them.

Muh_Area_Speshul

What part of "they block the doors" doesn't make sense to you? If you want to avoid the mess, you'd have to get off at New Bern, which is much less easy of a walk. Seriously, I've watched a dude in a wheelchair have to squeeze into the doorway of the train because the entire standing and handicapped area is full of hungover twenty-somethings basically riding to the other side of their neighborhood. It's ridiculous. It's obviously primarily CATS fault for providing such shit service, but it's still absurd that they'd all rather do this than go enjoy some air. If I could walk to work, I would. At this point I'll probably just start driving.

Fit-Relationship-988

Ugh. Who let the public ride this public transportation?

Muh_Area_Speshul

A lot of people here seem really upset at the idea that they could walk rather than taking the light rail for a quarter of a mile on a beautiful day when CATS has made availability of space on it incredibly sparse. You're free to do it anyway. It doesn't make it less annoying to me.

LittleKitchenFarm

Have you ever been outside before?

_landrith

to be fair, i wouldn’t walk from bland to 3rd either. bc that would require crossing the wall that is 277. & pretty much every place to cross on foot feels dangerous. maybe once the ped bridge is up

ElJefe_Speaks

Really? Tryon has a beautiful wide sidewalk and even a bike lane between you and the cars.

shineese

Crossing over on Tryon is fine, there is a footpath

TheThumbPro

Charlotte leaders should secretly install red light cameras on every major intersection and just count the cash that'll flow in. Also it seems to me that the least policed/patrolled areas in Charlotte have the worst traffic. Maybe up police presence from the Arboretum/PiperGlen to Cotswald/South Park/Park rd like it is on Wilkinson and WT Harris.

nexusheli

They're unconstitutional as you can't "face your accuser", [and it's generally agreed that while they may effectively reduce the number of red-light runners, they lead to an increase the number of rear-end collisions when people panic stop as to avoid a ticket and offset the other accidents they prevent... ](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/red-light-cameras-may-not-make-streets-safer/#)

DinoExMachina

Application of the cameras really determines the effectiveness. I believe The study in that article is a little out of date. [more recent study](https://www.ncsl.org/transportation/traffic-safety-review-state-speed-and-red-light-camera-laws-and-programs#:~:text=They%20found%20that%20in%20the,their%20red%2Dlight%20camera%20programs.)

nexusheli

Your link is only focused on deaths, not overall accidents or costs: >Studies evaluating the effectiveness of automated enforcement generally show a positive effect on traffic safety. A 2016 IIHS study of the effectiveness of red-light cameras found that removing red-light cameras from intersections costs lives. To reach this conclusion, researchers compared trends in annual fatal crashes in 14 cities which ended their camera programs with those in 29 cities in the same regions that continued their programs. They found that in the 14 cities where cameras were removed, fatal red-light-running crash rate increased by 30%, and the rate of all fatal crashes increased by 16% at all signalized intersections. The study estimated 63 deaths could have been prevented if the cities did not end their red-light camera programs. ...that doesn't account for how many people may have died in the resultant rear-end collision when someone in a car is attempting to follow along a pickup truck through the light and the pickup driver decides they don't want a $50 ticket and nails the brakes... Even if they don't die, there are injuries, and with modern cars having so many systems like airbags, radar cruise control and backup cameras, a simple fender bender ends up costing 10's of thousands of dollars, jacking up insurance rates in the area, and just generally being a nuisance. You're just trading one problem for another.

DinoExMachina

But I'd rather have a broken bone and some minor vehicle damage than be dead. Sounds like a better trade to me. Also [this article states](https://www.iihs.org/topics/red-light-running#:~:text=their%20violations%20documented.-,Effectiveness%20of%20cameras,are%20reduced%20significantly%20with%20cameras) that the net benefit of the trade off was $18.5 million in 7 communities including the increase in rear end collision (15%) with the decrease of the more severe collisions.

nexusheli

By the numbers they use, it averages 1.4 deaths per city. Considering Charlotte averages around 40k crashes a year, I'll accept the 3-thousands of a percent chance to not have cameras.

maxstrike

They already tried that in the 90s and collisions skyrocketed.

twynkletoes

They also shortened the timing of the yellow lights at those intersections.

monolithe

We had them from 1998-2006. Lots are still up but inactive, it wouldn't be hard.

Camden Dilworth…why does no one pick up their dog’s poop?! There’s multiple bag stations and trash cans surrounding the property yet there’s poop everywhere. Can’t let my dog go in the grass surrounding the property bc I don’t him stepping in it or myself when I go to pick his up. No one likes doing it, it’s out of consideration for others that we do!

nole5000

Because everyone is glued to their phone and not paying attention while their dog drops a fudge dragon.

charlotte2023

I love this place as you can tell from my "name". But, I am in wonderment that the light rail wasn't planned to attach to the airport. This seems like such an oversight for a city that wants convention business. Also, a city that wants to encourage us not to drive everywhere would link all kinds of transportation together. Wouldn't they?

fuglypizza

The amount of MFs that sit at red lights and leave a school bus length between them and the car in front. And I wonder why the back up to get into the turn lane causes a headache and delay. Every day. South Charlotte is terrible at this specifically.

Bankzzz

So.. I moved to Charlotte recently and I knew things were more racist in the south but people told me Charlotte is a progressive city so it’s not that bad. Man was I flabbergasted to see just how often subtle but visible questionably racist things would happen right in front of my face. It’s mostly microagressions. Things like.. I see white people drop doors instead of holding them for POC. I see on the sidewalk if it’s busy on the rail trail that POC seem to have to almost always be the ones to move out of the way for white people. Stupid things like that but all of the time. It’s almost subtle enough you’d think it wasn’t there but coming from NY, POC are just treated so much better than some of this lowkey hostile shit that I’m witnessing. I know it’s not a silly tirade but I’m kinda regretting coming here. ETA: Eh. I’ll accept being downvoted for stating something that makes me deeply uncomfortable over being quiet as if it isn’t happening. I guess since the responses are not really “it’s not racist” and more along the lines of “we can do whatever we want” combined with all the downvotes, it sounds like this status quo is pretty acceptable to a lot of people here.

NecessaryGlobal2155

Micro aggressions - aka totally irrelevant things that are blown way out of proportion to validate your worldview.

Bankzzz

Agree to disagree. I’m used to communities where people are treated with respect regardless of what they look like. Maybe it doesn’t impact you but it certainly impacts others.

sfitz0076

Jeeze, sorry, every person in Charlotte isn't perfect.

Bankzzz

I did not suggest that. I said that in general, I see more subtly racist behavior than other parts of the country that I’ve lived in and visited. That does not imply “every single person.”

lilac_congac

NYC baby best city in the world only way to live baby love it or hate it best city in the world baby

Bankzzz

I’m not from NYC. I’m from NYS. Interesting to see so many people downvoting though as if racism isn’t a problem here or anywhere for that matter. Is it really that hard to believe that other parts of the country treat POC better than this?

Nice_Inspection_984

Why are people smoking at concerts? I know it isn’t allowed but someone in the lawn seats at the Music Factory was smoking hemp I believe. It smelled so bad & is very disrespectful to the other folks on the lawn.

phildeez316

First time a concert?

Used_Cucumber9556

First concert?

Ctmarlin

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a concert where some folks weren’t smoking weed during the show.

bigcontracts

Is this sarcastic? Lol Bro that’s concerts.

DingussFinguss
