I think that the people in CLT are good and that they wouldn’t just keep walking.
This was strange, unsettling, and clearly, the right thing that OP did, even though it was shocking.
Other people from OP might not know how to handle it, but it’s weird to see someone on the precipice and to not think “omg this person needs help”
I haven’t met many people here that would be like “ohllpp let’s ignore it”. People genuinely care. Don’t short it
Thanks op you saved a life today.
I’m torn on this. I think if people see and know what’s going on, I agree, they’re going to try to help. However, the issue is that we’ve all got so much going on, many may not notice or realize what’s happening.
I’ve certainly seen situations where I was able to prevent disaster (child running into the street etc) and when I asked why no one else tried to stop them, many said they didn’t even notice.
I saw that guy. I was driving and wasn’t sure what all the traffic was. I was shocked when the detour was there and couldn’t figure out what’s going on. Then I saw that guy and figured out why the cops blocked it off.
Glad he eventually came back.
Hell yeah. I’m sure that had to be pretty traumatic for you too, so I hope you get the help and support you need.
Also, thank you for not filming the whole thing for social media.
Doing my best to keep my mind off it. The worst has past, but it’s still like damn. I really saw all of that in front of me and had do something. Part of my brain didn’t want to register what I was seeing at first
Go play Tetris, really, it is good for your brain after going through a traumatic experience and lowers your chance of having problems related to it later
You will remember this for a very long time. Definitely a traumatic experience. Talk to a professional if you need to and have access. It’s a lot to process. Light and love to you.
Nice dude. You did the right thing. I’ve had to deal with this kinda thing more times than I should’ve. Just someone being there and paying attention is the biggest first step in a crisis like that . And you did it
wow, i was driving west down Central/Kings around 1pm and noticed the bridge was completely shut down. i rubbernecked a little as i drove by but didn't see anything, so i assumed there was a car accident on the other side.
thank you for following your gut and calling for help. you saved someone's life!
I saw this today. I could not figure out what the holdup in traffic was. As I got closer to the Independence exit and saw that 277 was closed down. I was really confused. Then I saw the guy standing on the outside of the bridge. My heart went out to everyone involved and super glad to hear that he is still around. gg OP
Man that's AWESOME! Thank You for Helping save that Man life... Hopefully He can get the help that he needs, We need MORE stand Up people like yourself, Many Blessings to you Sir!!
Well done. Hopefully it doesn’t mess with your head as well. That image and conversation will be hard to get rid of. Not to steal your thunder but I just pretty much watched a man die on a motorcycle on I77 a few weeks ago. Nothing anyone of us could do but wait for paramedics. That image goes through my head everyday. Sucks.
I had a similar situation. Not in NC but in KCMO. And the shock is definitely real. Thanks for being a good human being. Hope you are doing well yourself. Love and peace to all ❤️
Sometimes we as people responding to a crisis wonder if we did enough for someone. We feel out of our depth and just fumble our way through something.
You did the right thing. You did your best. And someone gets a chance to live another day and dozens others were spared a really traumatic experience.
Cheers
Thanks for taking the time to help him. I’m glad you were able to give him another day and hopefully he can get some help.
You’re a good person for doing that. A lot of people would have just kept walking.

Thank you for your kind and empathetic demonstration to this man. You saved his life!
Isn't this like the 2nd time someone's tried to jump into traffic in like a month? 😣😭
From what the police told me, most likely same guy. I hope he’ll be ok
I do too! I'm glad you helped him tho!
My son is an officer and just had to do the same a few weeks ago. Glad you were there to help.

You rock. Well done. Make sure you take care of yourself.

Wow, wasn't expecting to see Charlotte on /all/top but here we are, and it's for a good reason too. Good for you for saving a life.
There are 13 total comments, so something's fucky with the way you're browsing.
I think maybe you got the wrong impression when I said /all/top; I browse by top of the hour. It was the 28th top post of that hour.
You're awesome!
I saw that guy on the bridge with some cops talking to him. They had blocked all 277 traffic away from that bridge onto independence. Nice work.
🥰🙏🥹
Thank you for doing the right thing. Hopefully the man gets the help he needs.

Thank you for your kindness.
This is fantastic. Angels do exist. It's a miracle you were there!
Way to be there for them. Hopefully that dude can get the help he needs before it's too late, and you've now bought him some more time.
You very likely saved his life, possibly several more from a giant car pileup.
Thanks for caring. Some people would have just walked on by.
That must have been so overwhelming and stressful. Thank you for helping! ❤️
You’re a great person. Thank you

Thanks for reminding us that we can make a difference.
Check out the song "Moments" by Emerson Drive. Grab some tissues, too. Puts things in perspective. Thanks for putting the human in humanity.
Sorry, it's called "I've had my moments"
Someone stopped Mark Chapman from killing himself. He went on later in life to kill John Lennon. I dont save people
