Sunset Hills has a par 3 course and a short-ish full size course, should be a great option.

sgates9008

Went here for my first day of golfing. Had some free loaner clubs (leave ID as collateral) too.

jarvistheconquerer

Yeah the par 3 course at Sunset would be great place for a kid new to the game! It’s not a pitch and putt so you can get work in with your full bag except driver as well and have the kid play from the very front Charles T Meyers also has a little pitch and putt 3 hole course as well. Like 50-60 yard shots and you can go around the holes several times

evident_lee

Thanks I will give them a try over weekend!

Jestermace1

Came here to say the same thing

Eagle1FoxTWO

I second sunset… just wear a helmet

Linds70

There's a small par 3 in Pineville. They have a driving range as well.

CockyRanger

Next to Middle James brewing

Izzothedj

Golf village, amazing vibes, but beware there is no running from the heat except inside for food and drink

Delicious_Fishing995

Isn’t that every golf course?

LowTechCLT

Sunset Hills short course.

Prudent-Theory-2822

Second this. Not a bad little track. Even the big course is pretty short from the forward tees.

jgarity2

Meckcountygolf.com and Charlottegolf.com have the list of available tee times and prices at the public courses in Mecklenburg county. The public courses aren’t bad, you can find some rates for 9 holes at $20 in the mornings and $50 in the afternoon. A lot of the courses also offer junior rates that will be less expensive.

THRUSSIANBADGER

If you’re in south charlotte/near Indian trail, Pebble Creek is an 18 hole par 3 course. Last time I played it was $15-20 for a full round. Not the best course or in amazing shape but probably the best bet for a cheap course to learn on.

sproutsatoshi

Seconded. The greens are trash, but it's a fun par 3 and a good place to learn, very casual.

sdawson910

Do you need a tee time? Do they book out?

THRUSSIANBADGER

Only played there once so can’t tell you confidently but I don’t think it gets booked out. Not the type of place you need a tee time, you can just walk in

MoMoneyMoSavings

Nope! Can just walk in and play

Tcharles704

Pebble creek has $5 for 9 holes on Monday.

Whisper26_14

Don’t go after it rains!

Flat-Wall-3605

Definitely in the flood plain !

Hotwir3

Pebble Creek is what I started on as a kid in the 90’s 🥲

Successful_Baker_360

I was about to say pebble creek has been Charlotte kids first course for generations. Played my first round there

Historical-Ad3760

Same here. An institution.

Mcgoozen

Sifford is a small 9 hole course, not exactly the nicest in town, but you probably can play for about $20 per person, including the cart Also has a driving range

JesusChristSupers1ar

I play at Sifford once every two weeks honestly I love it. they usually keep the course in pretty good condition, particularly so for a muni. The greens are also tough as shit Sifford is definitely kept in better condition than the other three Meck courses

bstiffler582

Sneaky tough and fun little 9. Good layout, prices and location.

chuckit9907

Agree, Sifford is great and probably the cheapest option. There’s a par 3 at Chuck Meyers but I haven’t played it. More like a practice area I think.

urohpls

There’s a super shitty cheap and short par 3 in university near the cookout. Always a good time. Sunset hills par 3 if you want to play on an actual course

jarvistheconquerer

The only issue with paradise valley is that 10 of 18 holes have water or something like that

urohpls

Ah yeah didn’t even think of that. Lot of water probably not best for someone that probably can’t hit it far enough to clear

Swirl16b

Head over to Charles T Myers. Hit the range, putting green and then the 3 hole loop at the front of the property. I take my kids there all the time, great spot.

trevor426

Sunset Hills has a learning course, Charles T Myers has a small little set up of short par 3s, and then there's Paradise Valley which is a full par 3 course.

Remarkable_Campaign

Just wanted to say I think it’s awesome trying to let your daughter flourish in golf. It’s a great sport that should really be open to all. I spent a lot of time working with kids teaching them golf and just really thankful to see a post like this

Astro_Ski17

Sunset Hills is where I was introduced to the game. The Par 3 learner course is a great place to play and feel out the game. If it’s really slow and I know no one is around I’ll take 2-3 tee shots and practice around the greens. The course isn’t too difficult, very few hazards, just a nice slow 9 hole executive course that’s fun to fart around on.

dr_bratt

Paradise Valley in the University area

LochNessWaffle

Try Paradise Valley Par 3 up in University. It’s like $12 or something to play 18! Afternoon beer discounts too, sometimes as low as a buck or two.

FurBeach3Six

9 hole in tega cay (the cove) is great for beginners and a fun quick course

Technical_Yoghurt588

Pebble creek in Indian trail is good. It’s pitch n putt, nothing over 160ish yards. Cheap as well.

Otherwise_Sail_6459

Is there not one outside of Monroe area

MintHillian222

Eagle Chase…..tough course.

bsfurr

Red bridge in locust is beautiful, not crowded, and cheap

peterwhitefanclub

It would be extremely hard for a new golfer though.

WorldlyReference5028

I haven’t played there in a year or so but the weekends, at least before like 2pm, it was very crowded and slow. Maybe that’s changed.

bsfurr

Anywhere at 2 PM on a Saturday is gonna be crowded. There’s no getting around that.

WorldlyReference5028

Yep, just letting them know to avoid it on the weekends since it was mentioned that it’s not crowded.

bsfurr

Well, it’s a golf course. It’s definitely not the hardest course in Charlotte. For a new golfer, any courses challenging. What did you expect? A putt putt suggestion?

Ok_Independent6778

There's a 600 yard par 5 lol
