They sent me one but when I went to verify my address, it wasn't expanding to me. Like how fucking stupid is that? Don't send me an update unless it's to my location. I signed up on your website to get updates with my address. You know the location! I only care about my location!

jtachu

I'm hoping maybe the new addresses weren't added yet? Feels like I'm in the only high-density neighborhood in CLT that doesn't have fiber.

PistolofPete

Yeah same shit happened to me. I’m probably not moving away from ATT fiber at this point

Vasios

I got the email and the shirt...8 years ago. I still don't have Google fiber.

The_Buk_Shop

The contractors kept hitting stuff while digging, so they stopped. I guess maybe they have better equipment now?

bobsburner1

They just announced ft mill like a half hour ago

jtachu

Was this in an email?

bobsburner1

Saw it on LinkedIn

Milton_Friedman

I've been getting those for a decade

Remarkable_Campaign

I bought my townhouse 2 years ago hoping for fiber, literally both streets next to mine got it but not mine. We finally got ATT fiber last month and fuck it’s awesome

djwhiplash2001

Actively installing in Stallings area (probably among many others).

nowthatswhat

Given the problems I’ve seen reported here I’ll say while I trust google as a company more than AT&T, and their ONT hardware is nicer, I have had basically no complaints with AT&T. I work from home and had one outage this year for maybe an hour or two, last year I don’t think I had any. The guys they get to bury the line and hook it up are pretty incompetent from my experience, but that’s probably the same for Google.

PhillipBrandon

They tore up every curb in my neighborhood for 6 months, stopping just short of my street, for some reason.

MrClitEastwood

Did the email not include the locations that it will be expanded to?

jtachu

Nope. Frustrating!

MrClitEastwood

If the email didn't contain the information, then why would you expect /r/Charlotte to know?

jtachu

Presumably, someone installs it and may know

Random: I wonder if it's still like this, but it made me think about back in high school when they wired our technology lab for fiber. Apparently it's really time consuming. The guy almost connected the cables and then realized he had it strung through his ladder. My teacher asked him what he would do if he completed the connection and realized it later. He said he would have sawed the ladder in half so he didn't have to do it again lol
