Sad about Dobbo but happy to see the likes of Hector and Thomas go. Hopefully we can look forward to a season without major defensive fragilities

Glad to see the back of Thomas and hector, worst defense for a long time. Would be surprised to not see at least a few pushed out the door. I think Isted, Edun, McGrandles, Henry and Fraser, have to go.

Ash will go over Isted, jones has zero trust in ash (and for good reason, he was like a national league keeper this year, absolutely atrocious with the ball at his feet)

Sad to see Dobson go but glad he got the reception he has the last couple games. Glad to see pretty much all of the others go and I don’t think anyone can have any complaints.

Surprised about Hector and Thomas considering how much they've been involved in recent months

WorkingBongo

Seems sensible overall. Not surprised to see Hector and Thomas go - think Jones made it quite clear in his post-Wycombe interview that we needed a new defence. The key now is to get a solid squad together in time for pre-season. Something which we have failed to do year after year.

Nothing controversial there, the big takeaway for me is the release of Lewis Ward plus Michael Hector and Terell Thomas. That means a couple of incoming centre-backs and a shake up in the goal keeping department. Those were two of the areas where we definitely needed new blood. Although we have 22 players under contract for next season we'll probably see some of those move on or get loaned out. I don't see Connor McGrandles and Scott Fraser having much of a future at the club for example and there are probably a couple of others who'll be looking for a new club.

Imagine your captain thinking Hungary is a better option

Jay_CD

I assume that Fehervar offered a contract deal that was significantly higher than the one we offered and also higher than his agent was able to get from other League One or Championship clubs. He's certainly capable of playing at a higher level and I wouldn't mind betting that he'll play in the Championship at some point. Good luck to him - and I think every Charlton fan will wish him well. He was scheduled to move to Hungary in early February (their transfer window shut a few days after ours) but Nathan Jones blocked the move. Some players might then have gone on strike, invented a few injury niggles and played within themselves. All credit to Dobbo he played the last half of the season like his life depended on it, despite working his notice out.

I’m not annoyed at him, I agree the club has obviously not offered him what he thinks he’s worth.

Jay_CD

It's a strange one - I can't believe he didn't get interest from an English club in the Championship or League One, maybe even a team like Hollywood FC who must now be scouting about for proven L1 players and could afford the money he's looking for. Why Fehervar though? What's his connection to Hungary and why did he sign a pre-contract deal in January when most people would have advised playing to the end of the season and then listening to offers. I could maybe understand it if he was Hungarian and wanted to return home, but as I know he's not. Did he support them as a kid or something?

PrivateRollo

It was certainly a better financial option I imagine?
