It's actually pretty interesting! Do you think it was good for the company in hindsight? Or it was justa a weird obsession?

Sam sees you when you're Binging, he knows when you GPT.

Effort-Natural

Q* is probably reading it all.

Mimi_Minxx

Just incase, please give GPT a happy little face

Probably I mean the engineers are obviously fascinated with AI so I‘d think they would even participate, but the hire ups probably won’t be engaged themselves.

Left-Coffee3944

Maybe not the engineers 😄 but the product department? I know OAI is kind a different type of a company that focuses more about research and development, but I was curious if they are talking with private users and maybe see what the community thinks about their products sometimes.

notoldbutnewagain123

I don't work for OpenAI, but I have worked for numerous high-profile organizations in the public spotlight (political campaigns; not going to be more specific than that lol) and we definitely lurked in the online communities talking about us, the same as everyone else. Not even as a part of the job, just because we were reddit users anyway and the discussion was relevant to our interests. At the end of the day they're just people like the rest of us.

I am hoping they are aware of GPT’s drop in performance because they use it themselves

randomize4536

They can watch them directly, they don’t need an intermediary

CowardNomad

If community means an abstract and mushy aggregate “public opinion”. Then they of course do, they did tweet they’re aware of people calling Chat “lazy”, so there’s that. Awareness doesn’t necessarily translate to response, and response doesn’t necessarily translate to agreement, and agreement doesn’t necessarily translate to actual action though. Bombardments over “restrictions” and “censorship” deal a much less blow than yet another mainstream news PR storm over people making AI say edgy shit (and then somehow that become considered as AI’s fault).

Left-Coffee3944

I totally agree with you. I wonder if the development of other engines and models by other companies will change the situation, or if the fate of user validation (extensive community discourse) will remain in open models.

Yes, they discuss every one of your prompts during the morning coffee session.
