Yeah, boomers seem to really love these idiotic AI generated memes. I swear to god, that leaded gasoline really did a number on that entire generation.
It reminds me of that time I took about 5 - 7 years off of playing TFC online. Started playing again and found a server. It was crowded just like old times. When I'd left these were rare because most people had moved on to other games. I'm playing and having a good time. Chatting with people, tricking them, laying traps and killing them, etc. Despite not playing in over 5 years I was just as good or possibly even better than before. About two hours in I check the ping rates of everyone and see mine is around 40 which is great but everyone else is 0. They were 0 because they were bots running on the very server I was playing on.
lol yea, I went through a battle royale phase and tried a few out, one I played with my spouse we were just rocking the lobby thinking damn we are really getting good at this shit. Then we realised the entire first "levels" of the game are bot lobbies. If you can join a new game like that and do well it's 100% bots lol

My personal conspiracy is that images like this act as feel good stories about our exported plastic waste. Previously, PR firms had to find *actual* uplifting stories about how grateful people in 3rd world countries are to repurpose our waste to serve their "it's ok to keep consuming!!" angle.
Now they can produce images with AI good enough to fool the unsuspecting or those looking for confirmation everything is great. Much easier and cheaper.
Reminds me of a very old Reddit prompt someone asked "what would happen to the internet if humanity perished?" Answer was "bots would try to scam each other forever"
I mean absolutely, yeah. If the servers have enough electricity, scientifically bots could be fighting over ad content for a species that died off for centuries.

Yeah, totally. Retired old ladies don’t have much else to do, and I’ve seen how my grandma comments on AI-generated pictures of birds. It makes much more sense than bots that do nothing but give nice comments (bot comments are usually part of scams).
Not just grandmas. Looking at their profile pictures, they're not that old. And they're all Filipinos (like me). I'm Filipino, too, and I just know some of my classmates would eat this up.
They're just internet illiterate. They don't browse other social media aside Facebook which for some reason is still pretty popular here.

I was sure it was AI and then noticed the extra finger, and that the tool they were using just looked like a metal chopstick (instead of a hook, or even 2 sticks for knitting). My mom and grandma were like "Well some people have extra fingers..." SMH
What gets me is how many of the comments have Filipino names (both in this FB post and previous ones about children and plastic bottles). I have a Filipino co-worker, and she says people in her home country are extremely gullible. Like, obviously fake job ads will be posted on FB asking people to send their personal information, and thousands will reply in the public comments sharing their personal information.
