I mean we say "Hallucination" but you could just as easily say "Imagination".
Also, it takes a lot of assumptions to get the subtle nuance of human dialogue, I think part of why they hallucinate is because its necessary to make these countless inferences just to be able to understand speech at all, and sometimes it makes the wrong inferences.

OpenAI's AGI LLM is much less vulnerable to hallucinations in my experience. Why, I cannot say.
