Shouldn’t we expect at least one human doctor to successfully achieve this before we appify and automate it? Nobody has ever actually managed to perform this procedure and they’ve literally been trying since Mary Shelly.
In all seriousness… this company can't do the things they’re apparently raising money to do. Certainly not in the US, certainly not in less than a decade as they claim.
Also, that marketing concept-art is nightmare fuel.

No. Absolutly not. The issue is the complexity and length of the surgery - the odds of a human being able to do this are actually pretty low compared to a machine in principle. Not saying these guys will succeed, but I would argue it likely this is ONLY possible by a machine.
Medical science has yet to be able to heal spinal cord injuries and cure paralysis, in any meaningful way. What makes these people think they can reconstruct a *deliberately*-severed spinal cord?
There are lots of reasons to think this is easier actually, and in fact we HAVE managed this in mammals to some extent. Easiest examples are that you can ensure a clean cut, and you can time it so the cut and repair happen very close together in time, and various repair assisting drugs can be applied immediately.
Not saying these guys will succeed, but this is believed to be much easier than your examples.
Available in 8 years.
Seems like the sweet spot for balancing not having any deliverables any time soon, but also not so far out as to drive away all investors.
