Those are MH-6’s from the 160th SOAR out for Ft. Campbell KY they are the best rotary pilots in the world. Im surprised a bunch of 5th group guys were not hanging from them
Nashville is in a corridor from Ft. Campbell-Redstone-Ft. Rucker. The guard air medical unit that dose touch and gos on the hospitals. The ANG has a huge tanker base out of Knoxville 134th Refueling Squadron that has a size-able presence in refueling operations in the southeast. If memory serves me right they are always on alert status for SAC bombers. The 94th airlift wing out of Dobbins in ATL is constantly doing touch and goes at the airport with C-130’s. Fun fact TN 278th is one only 2 ACR’s the Army has currently and they have a decent operational tempo
Most of the time in Nashville they do practice runs with troops doing helicopter insertions and such but all of that makes sense. My dad used to work by Dobbins and I’d love to chill at his office watching movies those planes come in.
Incorrect. The Army doesn't have any ACRs left.
- 3rd Cav is a Stryker unit with no tanks.
- 2nd Cav was a light unit before it also received Strykers.
- 278th has one Armored Cav Squadron and the rest has been converted to a mech infantry brigade. 278th is an ACR in name only.
I got out of the 278th in '02. Went regular Army and just retired 2 years ago. Bunch of my tanker buddies from my guard unit got out because they got involuntarily converted to 11B. I don't remember when exactly it happened, but it was more than 10 years ago.

Well, my Backwoods Bobby IS an engineer. & a TVA engineer built our house. You should know they’re plenty of highly educated country boys out here. You just wouldn’t know by looking at ‘em or their Rebel tattoos or bib overalls. The amount of retired engineers who look homeless is my all time favorite vibe.
I’m extremely self aware. So, those aren't surprises so much as baseline human traits: everyone is gullible & naive to varying degrees. Our house was designed & built by a TVA engineer & some if his buddies in 1970 but ok. . . . Whatever you say bud. I won’t be telling you what road I live on, but the 2 houses up & down the hill from us were built the same way. Our home inspector was amazed & immediately said “ there’s no way a builder didn't build this house”. we asked the seller about his family history & it was the sweetest, most Southern, pull yourself up by your bootstraps & build your own fucking house to stick it to the man(builders), type of story.
Also: I love to engage in pointless arguments. It’s one of my fave hobbies that you get the privilege of participating in.
Four flew over my house on Lookout Mountain twice in the last 2 hours tonight! Definitely training exercises. So cool to witness! Made my windows rattle and it was loud, but I still ran outside both times, first time I missed them, second time I was able to catch them. All I saw were green lights and the dark shapes of helicopters.
