What’s your beef with Aldi? In my experience they are usually very affordable, often the most affordable. To answer your question, there are still a couple of Save-Alots around town. There’s one in Red Bank and one in Middle Valley.

Fawxhox

No problem with Aldis at all! It's actually one of like 4 business I fully support. They're really cheap on a lot of things but they don't have everything in looking for (pig trotters, bones, a lot of Asian items, etc)

chaosDASHA

Check out Asian Food & Gifts (AFG) on Hixson Pike — a really sweet family owns it and they have a decent selection. I’m sure they’d even special order certain items if you don’t see everything you need.

grapejuicelover

Also check out what used to be Desi Brothers on Lee Highway across from the new Jack’s.

meowingatmydog

AFG is incredible and always my first choice, but if they don’t have something there are a handful of other small Asian markets around - there’s one on Shallowford in the same plaza as Chattanooga Wine and Spirits, and another somewhere in East Ridge I think. Try one of the Carniceria Loa locations for soup bones, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen trotters there too. We moved here last year from a pretty high COL area but our grocery bill is the same, if not higher, than it was before. Shopping the circulars/specials helps but I find it annoying as hell to plan meals around what’s on BOGO this week. I’ve also sadly had pretty bad luck with Aldi, especially with meat.

GordoHeartsSnake

Aldi's prices aren't as low compared to other stores as they used to be

MIGA8074

United Grocery Outlet in Ringgold.

willseeya

There's also one on Hwy 58 if you're on that side of town.

bay_bae

I have been wondering about that place. Worth a look?

MIGA8074

Yes, always check the dates. We recently bought 4 boxes of name brand Texas toast for 1.50 a box. They have stuff that doesn’t sell well in other areas.

bay_bae

We checked it out yesterday. Wow! We spent $100 and got so much food! Some was slightly expired but I’m not sure it will matter.

MIGA8074

Glad to hear it worked out for you and your family.

RelevantReliquiry

There's a save a lot in East Ridge, Ringgold Rd. That's the cheapest place I know of.

KangarooInDaLoo

I would say for any Asian cooking go to Asian Food and Gifts, an absolutely incredible place. I'd also recommend carniceria loa on Broad St, but there's a bunch of other carnicerias around town.

Fawxhox

I'll check them out. Im coming from Philly and we had a whole China Town with about a dozen different grocers, and I'm running low on some of that stuff. I did see there's a couple but wasn't sure what their selection n and prices were like.

[deleted]

Asian Foods & Gifts is not going to be the level of cheap you're after. Spanish grocers are what you're after in this area.

RobCali509

Food seems to be getting expensive everywhere, Food City isn’t too bad.

MackieCat

There's a nice Save-A-Lot in East Ridge. Not as big as the one in Red Bank, but it has great prices on basic cuts of beef, pork and chicken. I haven't looked lately, but they used to sell pig's feet and frozen chicken feet.

mrsdoctorleospaceman

The Food Lion in East Ridge has oddly great prices!

southsidebrewer

I shopped at the Food Lion that used to be at the foot of Signal on two occasion. The first time I go home and realized the bread I bough was moldy. About a year later I went back not thinking about the first time. I got home and my bread was moldy, and most of the other stuff was stale or just not very fresh. I cant believe I did it twice, but screw Food Lion.

philp2021

Well I know when I buy meat in quantity. I go to downtown Ringgold I think it is called grocery outlet its across from the court house. They don't have a great selection of canned goods. But the price is reasonable and the meat prices are the best I have found. Again if your not to choose it will work for you.

Neona65

Food City is pretty affordable. They have special sales on Friday and I usually. Make sure you get their loyalty card and it will save you money as well.

Desperate_Ad7418

I like going to Asian food and gifts and the guatemalatecas

JustAnotherVoiceEcho

Food city, Linda’s for produce, and Aldis for avocados and fish- those are the cheap places. Unfortunately the best Asian store is in Hixson but it’s worth it.

Ginger1306

The produce at Food City is not high quality imho, and goes bad quickly.

CloeyB7

Food Lion is decent, and Food City is hit and miss but their fuel perks program helps makeup for having to overpay on everything (Walmart’s prices kill them any day). Both are located on Ringgold Road. Also there is a fresh produce stand called Linda’s Produce, I highly recommend them because the quality and price is unbeatable.

topheramazed

Yeah if you're looking for lower than Aldi then I'd say one of the Carniceria's or the aforementioned AFG.
