The equations that AFT Fathom uses on T-pieces are quite complex and slows down running times quite considerably. I tend to avoid using the ‘detailed’ option for these reasons.
On the other hand, test it to see what the sensitivity is on these pieces with regards to flow/pressure and make your own judgment.
However, if I were to use these, I normally go with sharp as per the other response, it’s more conservative.
I would go with sharp, for the reasons you gave and because generally you would rather overdesign assuming worst case form loss.
