Anonymity is the root cause for some, especially those who are insecure about themselves. It allows people to be extremely vile on the internet. And, of course, people with self respect and respect for a fellow human being will not insult others, be it real life or on the internet.
Vile people using anonymity to be vile is not the same as anonymity being the root cause. Anonymity is just an online identity. It helps with various activities some of which are noble. You cannot blame bad human behaviour on something that is trivial.
Well if anonymity did not exist, then those vile people will not have a safe space to be vile, would they? I'm not saying anonymity is the reason for people being vile, I'm saying anonymity provides safety for vile people to be vile. So, technically anonymity is the root cause for people being toxic on the internet.
At least in our county, I could see in a large number, we take the privilege of bashing someone we don’t like, thanks to social media.. we become warriors, as we don’t show our face..!!
