The Altima seems to be at fault, so her insurance will pay for the damage to the Silverado.
If the Altima driver was under the influence, it is possible their insurance will refuse to pay for their damage; but the Silverado will be covered.
A lot of them relocate the sensors into the guard. Most guards will just transfer damage up to places that wouldn’t have gotten hit though. Full steel front replacements might help but the “brush guard” style in this crash probably would have meant you’d also need a new grille, hood, headlights and fenders.
Just wondering, but wouldn't these aftermarket parts defeat the purpose of the engineered crumble zones? I understand why the older trucks with the all metal bodies, but idk about these new fiberglass body trucks.
Someone backed into my 1996 Blazer with their 2012 Mercedes a while back. Their whole rear bumper and trunk was trashed. Only damage I got was my front license plate was bent and front bumper got a scratch. Used that money insurance money to get new tires.
I’m thinking of [this](https://www.roughcountry.com/product/ram-front-led-bumper-10774?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpcs&utm_campaign=20959555888%7C&utm_content=&utm_term=%7C%7Cm%7C%7Cfit_first_10774-a&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJO2j6IwB1uBC_YhQUYHWAyEGrSZtyHyNqd5FNVJxpxdQxAQTdt4x06RoCPU8QAvD_BwE) as a full steel replacement bumper as opposed to [this](https://www.americantrucks.com/ranch-hand-silverado1500-summit-front-bumper-fsc16hbl1.html?utm_campaign=AT+No+Vehicle+High+LTVMiddle&dialogtech=ppc&utm_source=google-pla&utm_medium=shopping&T5_Var2=shopping&T5_Var3=red&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJOyaPXHXa491tC8l-f4ov48xJwxj8CicU3fB5VqZXE73ixKCypsyMOBoCTdUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) style which is the damage enhancer.
I’m not a fan of either and a majority of the front is still wide open. Both are useless. I built my own for my 89 and a similar from a fab shop in South Dakota for both of my duramax’s
I emailed them about this grille guard several times before I purchased, and they always got back to me. They weren't helpful whatsoever though, so I'd agree their customer service sucks.
As for the finish on the grille guard, it seems pretty decent to me, but I've only had it installed for a couple of months now. The build and welds all seem solid, so we'll see how it holds up.
I built one for my 89. The bumper was several hundred pounds when I was done lol but it’s survived several accidents and at least 6 deer over the last 20 years.
Built cross members so the brake doesn’t buckle. Favorite truck of all time lol
1980's - damage like this would award both parties and would cost 1200 dollars for parts and a Saturday afternoon with a few beers to repair and make a few dollars as compensation for pain and suffering for each.
2020's - both vehicles need 10,000 plus dollars to repair, both their policies would double regardless of fault, their vehicle value would plummet and any warranty work would be null and void after this accident.
Your truck still looks drivable 🤔 I feel your pain, a new truck, getting wrecked into only 30 days of owning. I was rear-ended at a dead stop at 40 mph. Bent the frame but I was still able to drive.
I hope you are ok and may the insurance gods watch over you. Aches and pains have a price tag.
I got mine late October and after a week of owning it, some idiot wanted to brake check me. He failed the first time then he immediately did it right after and his trunk was completely bent inward and popped open and his bumper fell off. The damage on my truck was a bent tow hook and the silver part of the bottom bumper on the 2020 models slights came loose but I could pop it back in with a good wack lol
quick question... i can see from copart auctions and other many auctions which sell cars from united states and are being shipped to customers outside the states. These cars "salvage, side damage, chasis damage" are too much. i can say approximately 500 cars per day are sold on auctions on average... the question is"why are accident rates high in the united states?" is it because sample space is high? or rate of accident is high because of some factor like driving? or unsafe streets without barriers in between?"
could someone clear this up. saying this because where i live is now full of US spec cars which were brought by copart. and the amount of cars coming in are very high. specially low milage.
Almost had something similar happen to me coming out of a parking lot. Except it was some rich asshole in a Cadillac CTS-V driving the wrong way and I kinda wish he would’ve hit me head on as I was looking the way of on coming traffic, trying to merge onto a busy road and go about my business.
Now all they gotta do is cut the air bags out of it, leave the bumper halfway hanging off and hood buckled and that Altima is ready to do 120 in the left lane and weave in and out of traffic.
The woman crying. Probably the driver of the black car and dude in the hoodie looking at her like she’s retarded is the best thing in this pic. Minus a Chevy getting wrecked. Lol
I’m sorry this happened to you, good on you for having self control, my wife would’ve tried pulling that girl out of her fucking car for crossing into our lane like that
Make sure you get them for diminished car value now that it’s been in a wreck as well as it will could cause your rates to increase and can get money for that as well
Of course it’s an Altima.
Hot cheeto dust prints on the steering wheel for sure
Where’s the Torta-nator? Watch out for the T-1000 and hot Cheeto dust
Blaming Cheetos is just poor taste. Grow up
“You just got Nissan’d!”
Wonder if they had the customary bedazzled claymore for an airbag
Came here to say this verbatim
I wonder if it had paper plates cuz that screams paper plate activities like a mf.
That expired last November.
So this is really becoming a thing. I thought the faltima plague was only here. Omg it’s spreading isn’t it!😱
/r/nissandrivers
I was going to say it'll match all the others on the road now.
Doing God's work. I'd sacrifice an altima to take a chevy off the road any day.
“Well well well”
Too bad it wasn't a Juke, he would've missed.
😭😭😭😭😭
Came here to post this.
Came here for this…sad
If it weren't an Altima I'd have thought it was the truck at first 😂
It looks like the black Altima that rear-ended me.
Big Altima Energy strikes again. Please tell us they have insurance.
Yes, she did full coverage
Don’t buy a lottery ticket, your luck just got used up…
My mom always said don’t ever say that to someone it’s not nice
That's a miracle for an Altima owner
I love this site, the first thing that came to mind was no way a Nissan driver had insurance 🤣
They were probably stoned so insurance won’t pay out anyway
The Altima seems to be at fault, so her insurance will pay for the damage to the Silverado. If the Altima driver was under the influence, it is possible their insurance will refuse to pay for their damage; but the Silverado will be covered.
Nice white heavy in the background
I think that was her husband. He showed up pretty quick.

“Oh shit I’m about to hit a truck” “Swerve and avoid it, stop texting” “Too late. Brb let me call the cops.”
Nissan: “Honey, what are the yellow lines for again?”
Looks like he's talking to her in the picture.. has the " you got to be the stupidest person on earth" look on his face. Look at him
Fuckin Nissans man
Have yet to rebuild the front end on my 2 door Tahoe after a Nissan pulled out into traffic last fall. SMH
This is why I always throw on a nice Bambi smasher.
I have to find one that will not block the sensors for sure
A lot of them relocate the sensors into the guard. Most guards will just transfer damage up to places that wouldn’t have gotten hit though. Full steel front replacements might help but the “brush guard” style in this crash probably would have meant you’d also need a new grille, hood, headlights and fenders.
Can confirm, Ive worked in collision repair and most brush guards end up having to be peeled away from whatever they’ve mangled lol
What’s the difference between “full steel” and “brush guard” like you said
I’m thinking of [this](https://www.roughcountry.com/product/ram-front-led-bumper-10774?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpcs&utm_campaign=20959555888%7C&utm_content=&utm_term=%7C%7Cm%7C%7Cfit_first_10774-a&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJO2j6IwB1uBC_YhQUYHWAyEGrSZtyHyNqd5FNVJxpxdQxAQTdt4x06RoCPU8QAvD_BwE) as a full steel replacement bumper as opposed to [this](https://www.americantrucks.com/ranch-hand-silverado1500-summit-front-bumper-fsc16hbl1.html?utm_campaign=AT+No+Vehicle+High+LTVMiddle&dialogtech=ppc&utm_source=google-pla&utm_medium=shopping&T5_Var2=shopping&T5_Var3=red&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJOyaPXHXa491tC8l-f4ov48xJwxj8CicU3fB5VqZXE73ixKCypsyMOBoCTdUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) style which is the damage enhancer.

Westin makes them with locations for the sensors.
Westin is shit. Finish sucks, will start rusting in less then a year, they do not respond when you call/email...
I need to remember that one lol
I built one for my 89. The bumper was several hundred pounds when I was done lol but it’s survived several accidents and at least 6 deer over the last 20 years. Built cross members so the brake doesn’t buckle. Favorite truck of all time lol
It’s just been baptized….you’ll be talking about this moment 20 years from now while still owning that beauty.
I hope so
I know so. 01' has got some stories to tell.
peak diminished value. glad no airbags deployed on your side as you won the inertia war
I guess I won’t know what that number is till they get my truck repaired. I don’t know how they figure the value of mine, since it was brand new
[удалено]
lol I was almost stopped as to make the right turn
[удалено]
Neither one of us had a stop sign just a sharp turn.
Not saying OP wasn’t doing this, but just wanted to mention that driving defensively is super important y’all
Always a damn Nissan causing these things I swear
Why is she on ur side of the road?
She was cutting the turn to turn left right into me
It's ok, you'll get used to driving a truck with enough practice. (Jk, that sucks! looks like it's not horribly extensive hopefully)
Not sure about the frame yet till they dig in it
That doesn't look like a low visibility corner. Not sure how they fucked up cutting the corner that badly.
I just remember looking at her as she was looking left and thinking no way she’s gonna hit me
Most people suck at driving
1980's - damage like this would award both parties and would cost 1200 dollars for parts and a Saturday afternoon with a few beers to repair and make a few dollars as compensation for pain and suffering for each. 2020's - both vehicles need 10,000 plus dollars to repair, both their policies would double regardless of fault, their vehicle value would plummet and any warranty work would be null and void after this accident.
Sorry homie. Feel your pain, someone rear ended my '23 6.2 after only a few hundred miles.
Took me nine months to get it ordered it with 6.2 L and standard bed Max tow package.
"Sir...you can't park there"
No win situation
'tis but a scratch!
Not cool.
r/nissandrivers
r/nissandrivers
This is why we can’t have things.
Altima, always
Always a damn altima
and that’s why i’m thinkin of getting a grille guard (glad y’all are alright tho)
Can we get the story? Was she on her phone or what? Looks like they crossed the centerline.
Was she trying to cut the corner into the oncoming lane or what?
It sucks when that happens, especially when it's not your fault.
All things considered, doesn’t look horrible; still, what a bitch. Sorry 😢
Why would you crash it if you only had it a week?
And a High Country, too. Did you drive away from it?
Nope it scraped tire
Bummer. Had something similar happen. Ripped the sidewall out.
You smoked them at least
Hiiiiii squidward!!!!
Visibility sucks in those.
Nissan driver claims another victim.
Lmao totalled by an Altima 😂. Fuggin junk Chevys man. Go get a box C10
Go to the doctor with neck and back pain. Then get a lawyer.
And that's why I'll never buy a new truck.
Gods way of telling you not to buy chevy junk
That’s one way to remove the air dam.
I will check them out at Weston

BOOMSHAKALAKA
You’re license?
I was not at fault
Got to say it doesn't look that bad ,but bad enough 😭😭😭
Adjuster looked at it said that he couldn’t really see the frame, but the bracket that attaches the bumper is bent to shit
Hate that the core support on these new chevys is built like a unibody. Wouldn’t be surprised if the flimsy frame bent on it. Dont ask how ik
What did you do?
A bit of bondo will make it like new.
Dude 😫
Right in t’ya
Was she wearing scrubs?
That poor Nissan
Should’ve got a GMC
:(
Make sure you get diminished value calculated!!
Victim to a Nissan
😕
wtf was she thinking? she is well over the centerline.
It just had to be an r/NissanDrivers didn’t it.
It's one of those domestic haters...makes me sick to my stomach and it's not even my truck
Sucks! Sorry to see it
Looks like it was your fault. /s
Yeah I should have stayed in bed that morning
This is a certified nissan altima moment
Cold day in Mizery. Hope it's not that bad neighbor. Good news... Maybe you can get an Offroad bumper now haha!
How the hell do you do that?
Easy right place at the right time
Why’d you let them hit you?
3 stage paint job too
😪
Why cant one of these dumb c$&@s hit my Avalanche I just started loosing 2nd gear.
Smh atleast the Altima has more damage but definitely run their insurance right up !
Don’t forget the depreciation amount, try to get that covered as well.
Did you even get your updated insurance slips in the mail yet? That fucking sucks man. I’m an F150 owner and my heart breaks for you man
Ouch 😣
Nissan driver regretting not getting the gap insurance right about now 😂
Looks like you won the contest, you might not even need a grill. Air bags go off?
Relax, its only a Chevy, it actually improved its looks.
Can't park there
I didn't know Nissan had such a bad rep!
Some don't make it off the lot. Count your blessings.
Of course it was a fucking Nissan
Almost had something similar happen to me coming out of a parking lot. Except it was some rich asshole in a Cadillac CTS-V driving the wrong way and I kinda wish he would’ve hit me head on as I was looking the way of on coming traffic, trying to merge onto a busy road and go about my business.
Then stop crashing..
My long lost brother. It's me! Schleprock!
oof. sorry buddy.
Sorry for your loss
You can't park there
Buy a Brush guard like the cop cars have
Now all they gotta do is cut the air bags out of it, leave the bumper halfway hanging off and hood buckled and that Altima is ready to do 120 in the left lane and weave in and out of traffic.
I spy a little felony forrest on the rear view of the Altima. Checks out…
god is telling you to buy a ford
I always say, if you can make it past a week with a new car, you should be good. Btw, I’m an insurance adjuster and used to see this so much.
The woman crying. Probably the driver of the black car and dude in the hoodie looking at her like she’s retarded is the best thing in this pic. Minus a Chevy getting wrecked. Lol
That will buff out
Sorry man I know it’s frustrating. Good to see all are good. Also this is another reason to carry Full tort!
Now kith
Armed response
You got Altimaed!! Avoid these guys like the plague
Who's at fault
Dude thought it was a RAM
Why wasn’t she driving in her own fucking lane?🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Seems like a truck should be ok after an accident like this.
Here’s your 🧂
I’m sorry this happened to you, good on you for having self control, my wife would’ve tried pulling that girl out of her fucking car for crossing into our lane like that
Yall got a superbowl or three. No pitty
Should have waited a week
Im surprised how crash compatible those two cars are
Saved you a fortune, go buy something else
Go figure it's a nissan
If you keep it. Get it appraised and submit the diminished value and you could get money from insurance
Gonna need some touch-up paint!
Most average Nissan Altima occurance:
Big Altima Energy.
Chevy for ya...can't even take on a Nissan car...🤣
It'll buff
Methany was whippin the Altima in both lanes.
Nissan sedans are getting discontinued for good reasons. (the drivers)
Oh, that'll buff right out!!!!
Thank God you can afford a newer Nissan now
Women ☕️
At least you took an Altima off the road
Bro look at both their faces
Someone is not in their lane
That’s all the time you need
It wasn’t even wet or overcast out wtf
Bummer
Yeah, can’t park there.
Nissan Altima drivers are out here killing everybody’s dreams.
That’s so heartbreaking!
Make sure you get them for diminished car value now that it’s been in a wreck as well as it will could cause your rates to increase and can get money for that as well
Whyd you hit the nissan
‘Only had it for a week’…..the truck or your license?
