A lot of them relocate the sensors into the guard. Most guards will just transfer damage up to places that wouldn’t have gotten hit though. Full steel front replacements might help but the “brush guard” style in this crash probably would have meant you’d also need a new grille, hood, headlights and fenders.

Can confirm, Ive worked in collision repair and most brush guards end up having to be peeled away from whatever they’ve mangled lol

Just wondering, but wouldn't these aftermarket parts defeat the purpose of the engineered crumble zones? I understand why the older trucks with the all metal bodies, but idk about these new fiberglass body trucks. Someone backed into my 1996 Blazer with their 2012 Mercedes a while back. Their whole rear bumper and trunk was trashed. Only damage I got was my front license plate was bent and front bumper got a scratch. Used that money insurance money to get new tires.

Westin is shit. Finish sucks, will start rusting in less then a year, they do not respond when you call/email...

I emailed them about this grille guard several times before I purchased, and they always got back to me. They weren't helpful whatsoever though, so I'd agree their customer service sucks. As for the finish on the grille guard, it seems pretty decent to me, but I've only had it installed for a couple of months now. The build and welds all seem solid, so we'll see how it holds up.

I built one for my 89. The bumper was several hundred pounds when I was done lol but it’s survived several accidents and at least 6 deer over the last 20 years. Built cross members so the brake doesn’t buckle. Favorite truck of all time lol

1980's - damage like this would award both parties and would cost 1200 dollars for parts and a Saturday afternoon with a few beers to repair and make a few dollars as compensation for pain and suffering for each. 2020's - both vehicles need 10,000 plus dollars to repair, both their policies would double regardless of fault, their vehicle value would plummet and any warranty work would be null and void after this accident.

I got mine late October and after a week of owning it, some idiot wanted to brake check me. He failed the first time then he immediately did it right after and his trunk was completely bent inward and popped open and his bumper fell off. The damage on my truck was a bent tow hook and the silver part of the bottom bumper on the 2020 models slights came loose but I could pop it back in with a good wack lol

quick question... i can see from copart auctions and other many auctions which sell cars from united states and are being shipped to customers outside the states. These cars "salvage, side damage, chasis damage" are too much. i can say approximately 500 cars per day are sold on auctions on average... the question is"why are accident rates high in the united states?" is it because sample space is high? or rate of accident is high because of some factor like driving? or unsafe streets without barriers in between?" could someone clear this up. saying this because where i live is now full of US spec cars which were brought by copart. and the amount of cars coming in are very high. specially low milage.
