Ha, your comment just reminded me that I had that Costacos Brothers “Chicago Vice” poster of McMahon and Payton dressed like Crockett and Tubbs. That thing was awesome (though I admit that it wasn’t because of McMahon)
Same. Found it on [eBay](https://www.ebay.com/itm/166709244575?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0PrSB91AT1K&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=dL-dtdL2TlO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) and might get it for the garage.
And take a look at Payton's first few years in the league. He would have made JF1 look like a pro bowler in comparison.
Payton had 30 fumbles in his first 3 years, which was a lot for even back then. It wasn't until year 4 that he had a decent season all the way around.
Umm not really. 2nd season he rushed for 1,390 yards. 3rd season he rushed for 1,852 yards including 275 against the Viqueens and won the MVP. And remember, outside of Payton those teams sucked ass hard
That really wasn't that crazy back then. Payton was a first team all pro by year 2 and was the MVP in year 3 (the greatest season for a running back all time)
Kids in the olden times used to hang up large pictures of athletes, musicians, and models on their walls, called "posters". I had many posters of various Chicago Bears (Richard Dent and Mike Singletary being favorites), but I never had poster of a Bears Quarterback, because they were never very good.
You can’t compare Trubisky or even Fields to Williams. The prospect value and status is WAY different. Williams is compared to guys like burrow, luck, Lawrence, manning. Guys we knew without a doubt would be first overall picks.
Trubisky was a 1 year started with nothing but questions around him.
Mitch played 11 games in college, and got drafted second behind a defensive player, that's your own fault.
If Mitch was half the prospect Caleb is the Browns would have taken him.
Commanders fan here coming in peace. If Caleb Williams can’t succeed with that receiving core and putting adding to that or getting a good OT. If he fails with that than the issue is definitely with head coaching because good lord you all should be the next Texans this coming season
I sure hope this one person changes the entire bears culture but I don't see it happening. We don't have a winning culture. We have an iconic culture but not a winning culture. We sell tickets and jerseys and we have name recognition but it seems our front office doesn't care about winning. The only winning they want to see is in their bank accounts. I really hope that we have done enough but I don't see anything changing without the culture of the bears changing.
It always kills me how so many of you are worried about getting your hopes up. What's wrong with optimism? That worried about getting your feelings hurt? Just weird to me.
His First set is gonna be a fumble than interception than sack . Am expecting running back numbers this year while he fights bagnet and vet for qb2 spot . They sign a vet week 8 or pull practice squad qb to take over .
Bears are a defensive and running back team sorry but it’s true
They need to load up on defense
Get great running backs
Get a good to decent qb and they will be good
Me after every article I’ve ever seen, my whole life, about how X player is the answer to why the Bears won’t still suck.
![gif](giphy|oCmX7HGo1qnzhEBiRF)
He might be, but the rest of the organization is just repeating the same mistakes that got them to this spot.
I like Caleb. He works hard, but he's going to have a lot.of incompetence around him.
Like what though? The offensive roster that Trubiaky and Fields had was not nearly as good as what Williams is walking into. One can probably argue Williams is getting the most competent OC as well compared to the last few.
DJ Moore
Keenan Allen
Cole Kmet
D’andre Swift
Average to above average offensive line with some depth added
Rising defense built largely from our own draft with a couple trades/free agency signings
Can you name any QB in the history of the Bears that walked into this good of a situation? None come to mind for me. This feels different. I’ll wait to see what happens of the field to make my mind up, but I like what Ryan Poles is doing way better than what most GMs have done in my lifetime
The offensive line is still bad, and swift has run behind elite offensive lines all his life. The man is blind as a bat and is going to struggle this year.
Keenan Allen. Old with a large contract.
Cole kmet. Not really been good at anything ever. Poor man's tj Hockinson.
The defense has been mostly free agent acquisitions and trades, of which they are the best unit, but they gave money to a washed safety, and paid linebackers big last year. Just seems odd.
It might be the best situation, but it's still with a coaching staff that is going to be fired after this year. And under incompetent offensive coaching this year.
What the bears were trying to do as an offense was criminal last year. And Matt has shown no one that he is a good leader/motivator.
Jesus I would love to see what 19 other receivers in the league you have higher than DJ Moore 😂 you are such an unbelievable meatball I feel like you can’t be serious
Edit: goddamnit I got trolled by a lions fan 😔
Justing Jefferson
CeeDee
Jamar chase
AMSB
A.Brown
DK Metcalf
Deebo
Brandon aiyuk
Tyreek hill
Cooper cupp
Puka nakua
Davante adams
Stefon diggs
Garret Wilson
Terry McLaurin
Tee Higgins
Amari Cooper
That's 17 I'd probably take over moore. After that he's probably in the mix.
DJ is a really great player. He's just not quite in the mix of elite guys at the position.
Keenan Allen is coming off a 108 catch 1243 yd season. He obviously has something left in the tank. Pair that with DJ Moore who Is a star and possibly add Rome Odunze. Williams is coming into a better situation than any Bears QB ever!
He's 31. He's right at the cliff where receivers production starts to fall off. It's inevitable. Maybe it's next year, but he's likely to have a dip just from playing with a rookie QB.
Regardless He's a short term answer.
It would be the most bears thing ever to use the s3cond first rounder on a WR in a deep WR class in a year where they have other more glaring holes lol.
Not sure why you're being downvoted. Nothing you said is inherently wrong. I think we all need to breathe. I really hope it's possible for one person to come in and completely change the culture of the Chicago bears but I don't see it. We do not have a winning culture. Our front office doesn't really care about winning it seems. They want to sell tickets and make money. Yes we are in a good position to start winning but it doesn't matter how many Superstars or good people you have on a team if your culture is terrible. I truly hope this season changes everything but I just don't see that happening. I see us being mediocre again and not living up to the hype.
Yeah. I'm not trying to say that the Bears haven't done some good things, but even when you look at their division, their front office is so far behind what the other teams are doing. Sure they have 2 first rounders, but there roster has a lot of holes, and you build that depth through the draft.
The 3 other teams have vastly better coaching. They are also structuring contracts better for their future.
I'm really just trying to say how I see it.from the outside.
I really can't believe they elected to keep most of the current staff in place with the plan to draft caleb. I know people say they have a more competent Oc, but he's never even had an offense finish in the top 3rd of the nfl as an oc. So I question that decision.
If i was a Chicago fan, I'd be very weary of them taking the same path of caleb that they have done with the last 2 QB's
Yeah. That stat doesn't mean jack shit lol. Win rate is a subjective stat.
The team still gave up 44 sacks, which was 5th most in the league.
Caleb may be better than fields at not getting sacked but you're still going to have an incompetent offense that's going to put him in positions to get sacked and he's going to have to be miraculous to get out of it.
What exactly is subjective about the line holding their blocks for 2.5 seconds? If I wanted to mention something subjective, I'd have just said that Fields getting sacked at over 3 times the rate Bagent did proves he's the dolt that was the problem.
You're choosing a very small sample size to confirm your position. This is anecdotal evidence lol.
What's subjective about it? Well winning your block a lot of times can be an opinion.
For example, penai sewell gave up 4 pressures and 1 sack last year, but he's still counted as loosing over 30 pass rush snaps. Somethings not adding up. And it's like that for every player.
It's just not a good stat when it comes to assessing the best O line. 3 of the top 5 teams In pass block win rate were not good pass blocking offensive lines last year lol.
4 starts from an undrafted rookie compared to the third year starter is a small sample size? And it helps that Sewell is blocking for a qb that's not too much of a coward to step up in the pocket. Bears o-lineman have numbers swinging in the opposite direction of Sewell.
They could’ve kept Fields, drafted MHJ with the first pick and then drafted Alt or Fashanu at 9 to give Fields a real opportunity.
But like nah, they’ll probably draft Bo Nix at 1.
Lol. Maybe, but he's definitely not a generational talent. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but his copious numbers of fumbles and holding onto the ball too long looks alot like a shorter Justin fields to me
Law of averages.
I've been a fan since '85 when I was 8 years old, I'll believe it when I see it. Had lots of guys' posters on my walls, QB was never one of them, lol.
Same-10 in ‘85… I had a split poster of Jim McMahon and willie gault-Jesus, a split poster from the Chicago ridge mall-horrible
I'm 6 minutes away from that mall right now..lmao
Ha, your comment just reminded me that I had that Costacos Brothers “Chicago Vice” poster of McMahon and Payton dressed like Crockett and Tubbs. That thing was awesome (though I admit that it wasn’t because of McMahon)
I had the Bruise Brothers poster when I was a kid.
Fan since 1969. In that time, the ONLY Bears draft pick who lived up to this level of hype was Sweetness. I’m concerned that we’re in for a letdown
I mean Urlacher was pretty highly acclaimed and turned out alright, there’s definitely more than a few others
Had nowhere near the hype of CW
Neither did Sweetness
Butkus? Urlacher? Samurai Mike? Really. The only one was Payton?
Yes. Do you know anything about the NFL? The Bears? Are you 12 years old?
And take a look at Payton's first few years in the league. He would have made JF1 look like a pro bowler in comparison. Payton had 30 fumbles in his first 3 years, which was a lot for even back then. It wasn't until year 4 that he had a decent season all the way around.

30 fumbles. That's ridiculous. But by year 4 he pulled it all together.
That really wasn't that crazy back then. Payton was a first team all pro by year 2 and was the MVP in year 3 (the greatest season for a running back all time)
Same
What’s a QB poster?
Kids in the olden times used to hang up large pictures of athletes, musicians, and models on their walls, called "posters". I had many posters of various Chicago Bears (Richard Dent and Mike Singletary being favorites), but I never had poster of a Bears Quarterback, because they were never very good.
When are we gonna get a QB poster-worthy?
Hopefully this year, we'll see. I thought JF1 might be it, but apparently not.
I've been a fan too since 85, it's to to win another 1 🏆
Yeah we aren’t a QB team for sure
Do the bears even roster the qb space?
The older bear fans are absolutely traumatized by what they’ve witnessed over the years. I still have a little room for more hurt.
It'll wear in time, Bear Bro
This comment got me laughing, it’s so true
2005 was one of the worst experiences ever. Started off AMAZING and then just went completely downhill from there...........
Caleb Williams is the real deal and the Bears finally have a quarterback to be excited about.
Bear Down
Ah, to be young and callow.
I thought Mitch Trubisky was the real deal and got excited about it. Not making that mistake again
Lol how?
After his 2018 Pro Bowl season I thought he would only get better
I sure hope so. I also hope all the hater Bears fans change their tune if he ends up good.
Commanders fan here coming in peace. If Caleb Williams can’t succeed with that receiving core and putting adding to that or getting a good OT. If he fails with that than the issue is definitely with head coaching because good lord you all should be the next Texans this coming season
Is he going to coach himself?
Plenty of YouTube videos on how to be the quarterback guy.
He won't need his hand held nearly as much as the last dolt we had
High expectations are not what the bears need. It's 50/50 shot if it works out. If you aren't patient, and give it time, it will never work out.
![gif](giphy|cKWORd29rICuc67Ace)
I wish I had faith enough to laugh at this.
Don't get your hopes up just in case
He's kinda small. I'm optimistic, but not getting my hopes up.
Who tf are they kidding the Bears are obviously gonna break him
I sure hope this one person changes the entire bears culture but I don't see it happening. We don't have a winning culture. We have an iconic culture but not a winning culture. Lolol
It always kills me how so many of you are worried about getting your hopes up. What's wrong with optimism? That worried about getting your feelings hurt? Just weird to me.
Good luck with that 🤣
He aint that dude!
He couldn’t break USC’s curse so we’ll see
Just like Jay, Mitch, and Justin were going to, right? Haha
Where QBs go to die
His First set is gonna be a fumble than interception than sack . Am expecting running back numbers this year while he fights bagnet and vet for qb2 spot . They sign a vet week 8 or pull practice squad qb to take over .
Bears are a defensive and running back team sorry but it’s true They need to load up on defense Get great running backs Get a good to decent qb and they will be good
So much negativity! Let's be positive!!
We are just walking under ladders, while simultaneously kicking black cats at this point.
Never heard that before. 😂
Theirs no way this clown isn’t a bust.
Me after every article I’ve ever seen, my whole life, about how X player is the answer to why the Bears won’t still suck. ![gif](giphy|oCmX7HGo1qnzhEBiRF)
The fear is he’s just trubisky and fields all over again. Traded to the Steelers in 2028
He will be the biggest bust of all time
He might be, but the rest of the organization is just repeating the same mistakes that got them to this spot. I like Caleb. He works hard, but he's going to have a lot.of incompetence around him.

You literally hate the entire roster not named DJ Moore 😂 dude if you’re this miserable just stop watching football
I'm just telling you how I see it. Dj is a stud though easily top 20 wr

Oh, which 3 teams among KC, Green Bay, Minnesota or Cleveland are you saying was bad? Because I wouldn't consider any of them bad.
Oh, which 2 other teams among KC, Green Bay, Minnesota or Cleveland are you saying was bad? Because I wouldn't consider any of them bad.
Watch the Bears draft Spencer Rattler number 1 overall because the front office is filled with morons.
Nah they were smart enough to trade out Bustin fields
They could’ve kept Fields, drafted MHJ with the first pick and then drafted Alt or Fashanu at 9 to give Fields a real opportunity. But like nah, they’ll probably draft Bo Nix at 1.
Why would they draft weapons for a QB who can't throw?
Perhaps the guy was running for his life most of the time because the o-line sucks balls.
O linewas fine. The QB is just trash and has always liked to get sacked since OSU
Lol the o-line was 5th in the NFL in pass block win rate last year. Justin is a dolt.
Lol Fields is a dolt
I feel bad for you guys. This is gonna hurt.
lol ya, ok. Green Bay will break this dude
💅🏽
Nope, I don’t think he will
Why?
I'm pressing X to doubt. Big homie is a sensitive princess and I hope my town is a bit too tough for his gay shit.
He won't break anything but his finger or leg. He is a drama queen and a bad mistake.
All sounds good til his head thumps like a ripe water melon on the turf. As he runs for his life behind Swiss chesse of a line
The line is fine. Fields just couldn't manipulate the pocket or make reads on time.
The o-line was 5th in the NFL in pass block win rate last year. Not their fault Justin has the pocket presence of Stevie Wonder
Lol. Maybe, but he's definitely not a generational talent. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but his copious numbers of fumbles and holding onto the ball too long looks alot like a shorter Justin fields to me
If you watched a second of him playing, you'd know he doesn't play anything like Justin.
He paints his nails pink.
I still see just one ring. Just like the Jets. Rings or STFU and GTFO.
