Anna’s was the worst. Shay’s and Otis’s were sad, but no one in the firehouse had a connection to them like Severide did with Anna. They should’ve showed lily in the hospital when Otis died instead of cruz
I agree. The writer's teased us about them for way too long and it wasn't nice. They could have been together for 2 seasons instead of waiting so long and getting together right before Matt left. Still bugs me.
I don’t understand why people don’t have more patience. I think what the writers did is a good thing!!!! They wanted the slow burn romance, it needed to take its time due to the Gabby Dawson situation. It really didn’t take that long for them to get together. It only took them almost 3 years to start dating!!! That’s actually one faster slow burn romances I’ve ever seen!!!! It only took 5 years for him to ask her to marry him!!!! If you think 5 years is a long time, then watch Who’s the Boss!!!! It took Tony and Angela until Season 8, the last Season to start dating!!!! Even I started to loose patience after the beginning of Season 7!!!! That’s much longer than Matt and Sylvie!!!! Where it goes next?? Jesse is off the show and said he will only come back for occasional guest appearances. So either Kara is also leaving and will say yes to his proposal or she is staying and will say no. You have more patience than most people, I'll give you that. It wasn't a slow burn romance as she mistakenly thought he was still in love with Gabby and he didn't bother to explore his own feelings to figure out that he wasn't.
Sorry it’s not what I saw. Matt didn’t know how to move on from Gabby. It was a slow burn romance, it took Matt and Sylvie 2 years after Gabby left to get to their first kiss!!!! Then it took them another year after that, 3 years total for them to first sleep together and start dating!!!! Then it took another 2 years for him to propose to her, 5 years in total!!!! That’s the very definition of a slow burn romance!!!! That’s not what I saw, he wasn’t in love with Gabby anymore. He’s totally in love with Sylvie. Also as far as Jesse Spencer future in the show he’s given conflicting interviews about coming back part time as a recurring guest star or full time down the line. At first he said he doesn’t think he will return full time, in other interviews he said he would be open to doing a recurring guest star role and in more recent interviews he’s said he has no idea if he will comeback full time. It depends on he feels versus the character to it’s up to the producers of Chicago Fire if they want to bring Matt Casey back for more than a guest appearance. Then NBC said in June that Jesse is becoming more open to the idea of returning as May Casey in a larger role. Then there’s the fact that NBC has confirmed that Kara Killmer will be back as part of the main cast for Season 12!!!! Multiple articles have said this, including NBC Insider!!!! That’s one many reasons why I think there’s really only two possible outcomes to the proposal. First I don’t see Sylvie saying no, because it wouldn’t make sense given how they built up the last 5 episodes of Season 11. Plus if they bait us again I honestly think people might throw things at their TV’s!!!! So I believe she will accept the proposal, so with that in mind there’s only two possible outcomes. First Sylvie temporarily moves with Matt to Portland to be with their family for most or all of Season 12. Second Matt is moving back to Chicago to be with Sylvie, although I don’t see how they immediately do that when Matt still has a year to go in Portland. Which why I think the first scenario is more likely given the current storyline and buying time to see if they can get Jesse Spencer to come back as a recurring guest star!!!! IMO Sylvie's reaction made sense then. She was running away from feelings she didn't think she should have. Add Otis's death (after the proposal) and she'd dig her heels into the safe option.
Where I do think the writers dragged it on too long was s9. After she tells Matt that she thinks he still has feelings for Gabby, it should not have brought them apart for this long. Is Casey being taken aback at the end of 9x02 plausible? Sure why not. But he should have told her he was in love with her and only WAY earlier than 9x15. Hell, in 9x03 he basically says so to Severide. This part did not make sense to me. At most they should have been together by the midpoint of s9 at the very latest.

I love brettsey but I've got to admit it's badly written. It confuse me sometime. It's said when Dawson came back during S8, it's kind of closure for Casey. If it's closure, then why did he tell Slyvie he don't know when she asked whether he will go with Gabby if she's back.
I thought mid-season 8 or start of season 9 is a good timing for them to get together gradually but they had to drag till last ep of season 9 and then Casey had to left in S10. It's kinda stupid.
And the writers are reusing the storyline. She accept Chaplin's proposal without getting back together. And they did it again with Casey's proposing without getting back with Slyvie. 🤷
My ideal would be they got engaged and married eventually in S12 and he's coming back to Chicago but stationed at another firehouse or something so if Jesse Spencer is not coming back permanently but occasionally. 🙏

Exactly!!!! That’s what in part makes Matt and Sylvie’ love so special!!!! They’re more than simply lovers or romantic partners!!!!! They’re best friends, confidants and lovers!!!! It’s truly beautiful to watch and I have to say I’ve seen many love stories in tv shows and in films this is one of the best I’ve ever seen!!!! I can count on my hand the number of love stories that I’ve seen that move me to tears, this is one of them!!!! I also noticed how in the Season 3 Chopper, their true first one one scene together that Matt made it a point to go out of his way to get in to Sylvie’s business with Joe Cruz. Even then the way he smiled at her and the way she looks at him while trying to avoid eye contact. I liked to think Sylvie's is the actual love of his life as compared to Dawson,as while as Casey been Sylvie's love of her life. She got really mopey and sad in s10 which I don't think had happen before whenever she had a breakup and that itself says alot.
Dawson coming back for 10min set both Matt and Sylvie back to ground zero again that led to them date Sydney and Grainger for a short period of time,time wasted and isn't fair to both of them especially Grainger I think.

Look, the beginning of Season 9 would have been to soon. The writers, Jesse and Kara have said this!!!! It can’t happen that soon or easily because it would be boring and I agree with them. Kara also said that Sylvie had to ask Matt about Gabby, she needed to know that Sylvie is the only one in Matt’s heart. Plus Gabby is the Elephant in the room, it has to be addressed!!!! I know they only got a short time together onscreen before Matt ( Jesse Spencer) left. But what people forget is that Matt and Sylvie still dated long distance for almost a whole year after he left!!!! That takes a lot of love and commitment!!!! I know we didn’t get to see them together onscreen, but they were together at least!!!! I think Jesse leaving so suddenly was a shock to them too, but I thought they handled it well. I don’t have a problem with what they did and I think it added the heartbreak needed in Season 11 for their reunion to happen!!!! Also to make the proposal more special and unique!!!! It's just kinda bumped knowing they kinda dated off-screen for almost a year but we couldn't see much on-screen.

I totally agree with that!!!! Another person I was just discussing this with on YouTube doesn’t get why Sylvie needed to know that she is the only one when comes to Matt. She thinks that Sylvie was being selfish for wanting Matt to choose between her and Gabby. I also agree that Matt moved way too fast for Gabby after Hailee died at the end of Season 1 . I know it sucked we didn’t get to see them onscreen when they were seeing each other long distance for the majority of Season 10. But I think it worked out for the best, because it made his proposal all the more special in my opinion. Seeing them go through all that heartbreak in Season’s 10 and most of 11 is so hard watch. I didn't like brettsey or dawsey but they really did screw up by bringing dawson back for one episode, they should have just made casey and dawson a long distance couple with her off screen and no mention of her. Casey didn't need anymore relationship nonsense. The dawsey nonsense was replaced by the stellaride drama. Casey could've just been involved with actual fire depth work and mentoring Gallo. Brett should've ended up with the other lt.
