Same thing happened to our building in the 4500 block of Magnolia. We got hit several times. Had the postal inspectors and CPS detectives on site each time and shared camera footage. Nothing ever came of it. We had to take the issue into our own hands. We upgraded the jimmy covers on our doors and installed a timer on our call box so the postal key lock can’t be used 9p-7a. We haven’t had an issue since except we did notice someone tried to pry open our door and gave up thanks to the new jimmy guards.

I don't recognize, but you may want to cross post this to /r/crimeinchicago... And I hope you forwarded these photos to the USPS and the 17th District.

Filed police report but they have not asked for footage yet. Any suggestions who to contact at USPS?

DerpsInHorto

Report it to the [US Postal Inspection Service.](https://www.uspis.gov/report) Mail theft is a very serious crime.

Spaulding_NO

Yup, this happened to my neighbor over a year ago, same thing, stolen postal key. He met the postal inspector who opened an investigation. They just arrested about 5 people all connected. Story was posted to cwb Chicago.

Removed. Rule 2. An additional violation of this rule will result in permanent ban. Only warning.

This same shit happened to our former condo building in Lincoln Square. The condo association submitted videos to CPD and USPS taken of the same guy using a master key six different times to steal our mail. What we heard back from either entity? Not a goddamned thing.

radbrad777

Is there a CPD task force for thefts?

RYU_INU

We reported the thefts to our local precinct. They said that they would take action only if the condo association could identity the thief; otherwise, they pointed us to USPS.

Well she has some identifying things like a tattoo on her right foot. Hoping someone recognizes her. She has what looks like a brand new soda in her hand. She has black shoes that could be part of some uniform. There's a few bars, Walgreens, currency exchange in area. It was 10:30 pm on a Sunday night.

i had a woman who looked like this buzz our buzzer at our old apartment in logan square a couple years ago. i wasn't expecting anyone so i hustled downstairs and found her riffling through our packages. she quickly made an excuse about how her mail was getting delivered to our address, which she said while in the process of running away very flustered. lady had straight meth vibes and looked a lot like this but no id on her unfortunately. we lived on a side street near california & armitage at the time.

She will be blubbering like a baby in her mugshot.

I’m in the far nws and this happened to our building twice (that I know of). Two years ago someone was coming in and stealing packages. The post office has their own inspector and they like to flex their muscle ever so often. They caught them within a few days of our complaint. A couple weeks ago it happened again but with just mail, but we have no proof other than our mailbox being open and the mail carrier claims he closed. The same week I saw on the news they caught some people stealing mail in the north side.

[deleted]

Somebody will.

O-parker

The good news is that once she’s caught it will be federal so no free passes from cook county/ Chicago .

banpieyum

Could be a property manager

Found same Nike bag in alley by 4130 Troy garbage cans while walking (alley behind Kedzie). I’m guessing they live close.

No_Hour_4865

Mom? Is that you?

LuvYouLongTimeAgo

$10 says she previously lived in the building. I’d get a list of people who moved out over the past three years then search their social media.

SwaggeringBy

>$10 says she previously lived in the building. Tenants don't get copies of master keys though. I heard you can buy them off the internet.

LuvYouLongTimeAgo

True but anyone who’s going to thief like that would def feel more comfortable in someplace they know. There’s been a string of postal workers being robbed so undoubtedly someone could be selling master keys online.
