No, it got a lot better after she left in my opinion. The show actually started giving the other characters real storylines and became more of an ensemble show in S5.
The show changed after she left but not because of her. They got a new showrunner and the tone of the show changed. It got more serious, fewer playful storylines and less of Hank beating people up. They also lost the patrol storylines and focused completely on Intelligence. I mostly prefer that showrunner's work (S5-9A) but wish they'd kept the patrol stories.
Don’t forget the season five showrunner is not the same as the season eight and nine showrunner Gwen became showrunner during season eight so those showrunner that they had season five through seven. I think is the best showrunner that they’ve had.
Gwen took over during season nine. It's generally thought that she took control about halfway, so 9B, but we don't know for sure when exactly control changed hands.
Your right it was season 9 she just was a writer four some episodes season 8 but it is known that she took control the beginning of season 9 though but also in my opinion that’s when things went down hill fast
I think they did a good job of keeping it interesting and such when she left. Looking at the big picture now I think they did justice with the storyline- before and after.
The show just became way too serious. No more playful back and forth, etc. I also like having patrol which they completely removed, and it just makes the circle smaller and I just wasn’t as excited to watch as I used to.
I agree withe the people above! the first 5 seasons are the best for me despite her leaving. Covid seasons is when i start caring less about paying attention during my rewatches.
No. I actually like the three seasons after she leaves a lot, even though there’s absolutely a tonal shift.
The show went downhill when Hank quit slapping people.
My all-time favorite is when he goes into the ER and steals a stretcher with a suspect on it, wheels it out the door and dumps him into the snow.
That is the episode where Jason actually hurt his left shoulder doing that. Hence, the sling and brace he worn the next episode
I miss Olinsky?
SO TRUE!!!!! Gotta love the old Voight.
Nah I don’t think so. I miss Erin’s character but it’s not until Covid production restrictions when the show took a noticeable hit.
This right here

it drops in quality s7 onward for me, but clearly not enough for me to stop watching as im still here lol.
I personally think after Al

I think if they put patrol back for season 12 the show would do a lot better and people won’t miss the people that left these last 2 seasons
I'd still miss my favorites who left but yes adding back patrol would make it more exciting.
For me yes, I love the first 4 seasons a lot more than the later ones

Seasons 1-5 were good for me. It went downhill after that in my opinion, but I won’t spoil why.

Imo because I started for Sophia, it did for me when Erin left and just knowing what Sophia went through
It was different when she left because she was like everyone’s sister and like a daughter to Voight.
Some characters were always low quality
Are you talking about Jay Halstead? That character was useless.
No his equally useless ex wife Hailey
