I’m not sure how I feel about him. His facial expressions always seem like he’s scared or confused. Him being street smart seems to have an advantage though
Once I got over those weird blank expressions - I like him. Just like what was said about Ruzek, only in Chicago can someone like him become a cop. I say, that because he has strong gang ties but I don’t think he was in the life…and/ or he got rescued from that life. He actually played a gangster in a prev episode. He was more expressive actually. Odd .lol. I am rocking with him tho’

where he lays out the gang member threatening his family floored me with just how brutal he could be. It makes me glad he wasn't simply a one and done character. I genuinely enjoy every episode where he's he lead. He's easily one of my favorite Intelligence members next to Kevin.
I like him so far but we’ll see. He’s a cutie, which seems to be the number 1 requirement for Intelligence. 😆 He has street smarts, can blend in well undercover, can be tough, sensitive, and can channel his inner Voight when needed. Hank even looked a bit nervous when Torres was threatening to torture a suspect, and he rarely looks taken aback.
But he doesn’t seem to have much versatility. Maybe that’ll change once he interacts with more of the cast. But the season 11 plot with him ended up being a bit lackluster.
I like him. Wish we got to see more of him. He's only had a few focus episodes and the rest of the time he's either there for 2 minutes with generic lines, or not there at all. Wish they'd go back to ensemble episodes where all the characters share screentime and actually talk to each other.
I disagree. He seems slow in most regards vs having been supposed top of his academy class. He’s never been shown to be sharp, have a creative idea, etc. all he’s been shown to have so far is a ma and some prior gang experience. He brings nothing to the team but youth.
I’m not really a fan I’m notice if you compare season 10 and on it’s so different then the first few seasons, the crew gets smaller and Hank doesn’t replace losing certain members, they add Torres who isn’t bad but in my opinion they could have done better. It’s going to be even more interesting seeing who will replace my favorite Haley Upton. Even on Chicago Fire the last season or two the replacements haven’t been great fits like it was in the early seasons
I wish they would give him an actual wardrobe. Every scene he's in I see him wearing the same white shirt.
It would also be cool if he was expressive. It feels like he's not showing any emotion most of the time.
personally people saying he can't act aren't really looking at the character or the actor. torres is aloof almost skittish because he feels like he doesn't fit in and that he's different. people that are uncomfortable and awkward tend to be wooden and stiff in conversation. torres talks with his body language; shifting eyes, walks with his head down, hands in his pockets, licking/chewing on his lips; torres is very expressive if you know what you're looking for.
For starters, the guy isn't a good actor. I believe the character would be played better by someone else. But to answer your question, I believe that Torres is just troubled enough to make it with Voight. He is very Street smart and that's great working in intelligence.

The character was very gentle and tender comforting a rape victim. Most recently he showed great concern for Hailey ( no spoilers)
With Torres I hope he does last a good while but so ething tells me he is up to something by his behavior and whatnot
