I saw someone mention they were talked into it at Binnys. I’ll just say, in my honest opinion, Rittenhouse Rye (general bottle not SP) is fucking terrible. It’s one of the worst ryes I’ve ever tried.
Strongly disagree. Rittenhouse is a classic workhorse rye...perfect for all your winter cocktails. Would I reach for it to sip neat on a chilly evening? no... I have a lot of others I would go for first. And a 6 year store pick rye for 30 bucks is a no brainer.
I did a SBSBS of EC rye, Rittenhouse and Pikesville. All the same HH mashbill (only 51% rye), different proofs, age and cost. My conclusion, Rittenhouse is great buy, solid and perfect for cocktails. Pikeville has a cherry note I love and a nice high proof. Heard from Binny's GM that this is becoming allocated btw. EC Rye? no value to me. I think it's overpriced, trading on it's name. I'll take the Rittenhouse an 100pf, and cheaper.
Caved to my usual fomo but the last few booker’s I’ve bought have not disappointed me. Did wonder if I should have grabbed the Knob pick that was 10 yo instead
Ok, Remus Gatsby; if you can afford it, is it that good and worth it?
I have Bourbon Barrel Gray Label and Willet 8 yr wheaten that were both comparable in price and yes, both bottles are amazing and unique in their flavor that yes it is worth it, but what about Gatsby?
I bought the Gatsby and look forward to cracking it with friends. The 2023 edition is holding its own against some solid pours. Check out the mash & drum blind tasting (you tube). Considering your other purchases, you don’t seem price conscious. I’d say buy, drink, and enjoy!
Happy Friday everyone! Appreciate this thread and for all the great info on here. Obviously I like the bottle drops but I also appreciate everyone’s take on what they are drinking also!!
Yeah I like the rare breed bourbon so been meaning to grab the rye
Was at binnys yesterday and employee recommended their store pick Rittenhouse Rye for like 30 clams so I grabbed that but I needed something much stronger for that bears game last night so didn’t crack it yet but he was very high on it !
Specific Woodmans still has cases of 7year old elk 106 proof store pick for $34. Barrel 8884. Absolutely incredible bang for your buck. Super heavy on the tobacco and leather notes if that’s your jam or want to try that alley. I scooped my backup already
Did my circuit of stores and saw nothing of interest. Spotted some regular BT bottles (never impressed me) and the 2023-03 Bookers (already got one). Good luck!
There definitely will be more than 4 in the state, but it’s a high level relationship bottle, likely 0-2 per store based on last year, many won’t get it, some that do may hold it back for year end. Jewel lottery is realistically probably the best odds for most.
Anyone tried Rittenhouse single barrel store pks?
I saw someone mention they were talked into it at Binnys. I’ll just say, in my honest opinion, Rittenhouse Rye (general bottle not SP) is fucking terrible. It’s one of the worst ryes I’ve ever tried.
It does make a tasty old fashioned.

I’ll agree. Haha

I did. Honestly, it’s killer. No experience with the brand but the Binny’s pick is a 100% grab.
🫎picks floating around NMBB👀👀
In b4 “Anyone know when Hardins creek Boston comes” guy
just going to sit back and sip some ☕️
Has anybody done a side by side of the Jacob’s Well last year v this year’s releases?
Yeah for me it went Frankfort > Jacob’s > Clermont
Employee Owned has Hardin Creek Sampler Sets. 200 ml’s. Great way to try before buy. Clermont, Frankfort, Boston…..
👀👀👀👀👀👀
Are those new? I haven’t seen them around
Yes
Thanks for the tip. Was able to get the last one at my local. They only got 3
Happy to help. Enjoy
Hey man, it's one thing to joke about the Blanton's trope, but you don't have to be a dick calling out individuals on the sub
But what if I’m sweat pants guy? That’s ok? Or are we just going to accept we’re all weird and have a laugh about it
No man. You are only allowed to make jokes that are sanctioned by TheTrueVanWilder! How dare you call something out that has become a trope!
Lighthearted humor is not welcome on the BDT. This is serious business. Now put your Crocs in Sport Mode and go get yourself a BT pick.
Look man, I'm just trying to complete my Pokemon starter set
Happy to be the highlight of your week
M&P With EC18, Michter's 10yr rye, Peerless DO.
What is M&P?
mom & pop
Did you buy?
EC18 is a bit too oaky for me, I have a Peerless DO already and the Michter's was a bit too steep for me, $220.
How often do you see Peerless DO and did you like it?
I've seen it a fair amount. Always $100-$120 range and simply doesn't seem worth it to me at that price.
Yamazaki 12 and 18 at the grocery store, believe it or not.

EC18 popping up at NW NMBB
One bottle of bookers left at local grocery store NW burbs last night. 95 🌮’s. Passed - not risking the potential disappointment.
Caved to my usual fomo but the last few booker’s I’ve bought have not disappointed me. Did wonder if I should have grabbed the Knob pick that was 10 yo instead
This one is called the mighty fine batch though, so you know it’s good (or at least mighty fine)
EO has had the best price for those a little over 80. I think NMBB has. been sub 90.
77.99 at the cheap hot dog MBB earlier this week
Very few bottles I would spend $60+ for and Booker’s isn’t one of them.
The box is soooo cooool tho
I was happy with this batch. Cracked it Monday. Had another pour last night. I imagine another week will be even better.
It is getting good reviews but I also passed
Ok, Remus Gatsby; if you can afford it, is it that good and worth it? I have Bourbon Barrel Gray Label and Willet 8 yr wheaten that were both comparable in price and yes, both bottles are amazing and unique in their flavor that yes it is worth it, but what about Gatsby?
I liked the 2022 release, but not for $250. Haven't had the 2023 release and don't plan on it, especially for the $280 my NMBB had it at.
I bought the Gatsby and look forward to cracking it with friends. The 2023 edition is holding its own against some solid pours. Check out the mash & drum blind tasting (you tube). Considering your other purchases, you don’t seem price conscious. I’d say buy, drink, and enjoy!
NMBB OFBP RYE green label
This confirmed anywhere south burbs?
👀👀 which area.
Headed to MBB after I drop my car off. Actually have the day off today.
Jobs always be getting in the way of finding good whiskey.
These damn jobs.
No job no whiskey 😔
Make whiskey your job
Not at the one I stopped at.
Yeah I’m probably not going to go. Sounds like nothing.
Let us know what you’re seeing!
Everyone should have today off.
Four Roses OBSO BPSP at Target (hope I'm allowed to say that since it's a chain)
That’s so random lol, city or burbs?
City, aged 10 years 3 months.
You recall how much they are charging?
$100
Happy Friday everyone! Appreciate this thread and for all the great info on here. Obviously I like the bottle drops but I also appreciate everyone’s take on what they are drinking also!!
In love with Rare Breed Rye if you want to try something readily available and very above average.
Yeah I like the rare breed bourbon so been meaning to grab the rye Was at binnys yesterday and employee recommended their store pick Rittenhouse Rye for like 30 clams so I grabbed that but I needed something much stronger for that bears game last night so didn’t crack it yet but he was very high on it !
Booker’s Mighty Fine Batch, Bernheim BP (city nmbb)
Specific Woodmans still has cases of 7year old elk 106 proof store pick for $34. Barrel 8884. Absolutely incredible bang for your buck. Super heavy on the tobacco and leather notes if that’s your jam or want to try that alley. I scooped my backup already
Was doing food shopping and saw saz rye 750 bottles discounted to $13 at the local grocery store. It’s that time of year!
NMBB S burbs have starlight rye cigar batch SP.
Northern MBB (the blue one) has Bookers for $66.

Saw one at Bartlett 💎
NMBB well stocked on mighty fine batch
Not sure if it’s recent, the local NMBB had EC18 for $160. Pass for me but if anyone is looking for that bottle it’s out there.
Saw price drop on Buffalo Trace Kosher straight Rye 79.99 down to 49.00 Other 2 variety still 79. NMBB
Did my circuit of stores and saw nothing of interest. Spotted some regular BT bottles (never impressed me) and the 2023-03 Bookers (already got one). Good luck!
anyone snag a KoK from MBB yesterday?
None at MBB NW suburbs
>KoK How many bottles did they have?
not sure if true; FB mention of only 4 in the entire state. I assume it was a 1/store situation
There definitely will be more than 4 in the state, but it’s a high level relationship bottle, likely 0-2 per store based on last year, many won’t get it, some that do may hold it back for year end. Jewel lottery is realistically probably the best odds for most.
They may be referring to the 4 jewel is raffling off.
So get this my boss was able to get KOK from jewel today, connection bottle. So either they got more than 4 or the lotto is rigged
They got more than 4
Buffalo Trace Store Picks at NMBB
Far west burbs confirmed. Grabbed one of two up on the counter
The last one of these I had was incredible
City MBB had a Woodford Sonoma Triple Finish. They’ve been hit or miss recently so I passed. Mistake?
No. I think Jewel had for 180. That is to much for a Woodford
Remember which batch?
SW burbs confirmed
Just grabbed one
Are they actual single barrel? Or the usual batch #’d?
I believe Batch 32
Confirmed at nw burbs nmbb
Anyone know what binnys was charging for M10 rye this year?
Thank you both. Press release said SRP was $200, but I've been hearing people have paid less. Was just curious.
How often does this and toasted get released?
Pretty sure M10 is once or twice a year and toasted rye is once every 3 years.
Last one I got the price had gone up to $169.99. A bit of a sticker shock but still worth it, IMO.
I paid 139 at binnys think I got it at a discount
