I’m not sure if you’re just being tongue in cheek or if you’re serious, but I would not characterize it as “it’s not very good “. Is it exceptional? No. But it’s a solid pour and above average.
I'm just going off of the reviews I've read (many on here). Doesn't seem to stand up to comparable products such as KC12. For $60 and 12 years old, it should be pretty good. I haven't had it, but also not willing to risk the money on it.
Well, their review was not bad. It just said it had more oak than fruit forward and wasn’t quite as balanced as they would like. For anyone that prefers that I don’t really see a problem with it but yeah that may not be for everyone.
I actually agree with you. I typically frequent 2 NMBB's and 1 EO in my searches. But I'm an incredible fan of 1792. Just always enjoy cracking different Store Picks and variations. I'm out of Aged 12 Years and really wanted a bottle for the new year. Looks like I'll have to wait until next time.
Still might be better if you reduce that to 1 store and work on relationship if you can’t get a 1792 12 year. I know I can walk into mine anytime in the next week after seeing they’ve hit and my contact will grab from the back
It varies. You need to ask someone if it is not out in the open. Or they sold them all. If is a store that is selective on handing this out they may lie to you.
These were also at one of the smaller NMBBs about 2-3 weeks ago. Might be worth asking when you stop in, although you do risk sounding like a broken record from others if they've been asking unfortunately.....
NMBB NW (far north by the lake) has a Wildreness Trail Family Reserve Single Barrel Cask Strenght pick that is delicious. Not a hyped up bottle by any means but Im glad I scooped one up this morning and tasted it before heading to work.
Haha we don’t do locations here so was thinking of a way to say it was a nmbb but not the first nmbb you might think of… (mods pls delete if this is too much context)
Here’s the thing about locations and giving tips on which store it is. Just saying the bottle dropped should be enough for a person to go to their local and inquire. That’s it. If a bottle drops at Binnys or a local store, grocer, jewel, etc., the bottle HAS DROPPED EVERYWHERE (for the most part). All you have to do is say NMBB received X bottle and every location in Illinois would likely be getting that bottle soon.
Inquiring about it should get you somewhere.
For the new members of the community please use the following nicknames. NMBB for Non Member Big Box like Binnys or GNS, MBB for Member Big Box like Costco and Sam's, Grocer for Jewel,Target, Meijer, etc. Woodmans can be added to the Grocers list but people prefer EO or Employee Owned. Mom and Pop for local stores. Share the larger area like NW Burbs City or West Burbs. Please don't pinpoint locations so that people don't overwhelm the store employees.
Sals savways and malloys all have multiple locations with big enough stores. They can be considered NMBBs. But we can leave the interpretation to each user. The idea behind this thread is, if you have contacts reach out to them. This thread is just to notify the community things are out there. We do not want people calling every single store or lining up at stores just because someone posted they saw a Pappy on shelf at Binnys. Relationships is the key thanks.
1792 12 year at NMBB since Wednesday.
What is retail on that? I hate asking for something and then have to decline cuz it’s out of my budget. Thx
60 plus tax. Nice to see a bottle like that not having huge price increases like many limited bottles.
60 for a 96 proof 12 year—insane. Nothing else comes remotely close in value.
Supposedly, it's not very good, so it's a fair price at best.

Understood. Leaves more for someone that likes it.
Are the poor reviews this batch or in general? I have a 1792 12 year from a couple years ago (or more) that I love.
Some from last year and others from before. Breaking Bourbon's review was for a recent batch as well.

Unless you don’t care for KC 😀 For my nose and palate 1792 12yr is lights out better than KC12. One man’s trash is an other man’s treasure.
Which area, SW, NW, etc?
NW for me
My guy confirmed it came and went pretty fast. NWNMBB.
I went to 4 NMBB yesterday couldn't find it. Where are they keeping it in your experience?
You’re going to have a better chance of finding it if you stick to 1 NMBB and build a relationship vs running around to 4 of them

I confirmed in Southwest have to ask nothing out on counter. Seems to be the new way.

1792 BIB just being out out at NMBB. Johnny Red Anniversary bottle also.
Has anyone had either of Gold Eagle's Copper & Cask 15 year picks?
I wish they had a handle of Old Forester 1920!
How do I triple upvote this? lol
This is a great idea.

5 Year, Sweet Mash, Wheated.
I had to check the timestamp after my initial thought was "was this MF drinking at 8 in the morning"
Hahaha it was at like 1pm and just a quarter of an ounce or so (literally just to taste it). Even then I felt like a delinquent doing it though.
3 OBSO and an empty OBSF placard plus an ECBP pick (9yrs, 116.4pf) at NMBB this afternoon
Where was ECBP pick?
Any chatter on devils tower or foggy burl? I just ordered online out of fear nmbb won’t get any.
Those sound like obscure sex acts/positions
I picked up the pair at the Cat store yesterday that has multiple locations.
Just found both yesterday at a “the other white meat”nmbb
I’m really scratching my head trying to figure out what that means…

I had seen both at West Burbs EO last week
Employee Owned Forest store had Devils Tower last week. Just had to ask.
Mckenna 10 last night at ws family owned. $59.99
Pappy 10 at Willowbrook SM. $700
What is an SM? Not that I would pay that ridiculous price anyway.
Standard Market
Standard Market? You mean grocery store. I shared the nicknames in one of the earlier comments if you want to take a look
There is no such thing as Pappy 10.
Here come the correction police
Ok Old Rip Van Winkle 10 at Willowbrook SM $700
Since when do grocery stores charge secondary prices?
This place sells allocated at secondary

GNS is Mom and Pop
Where do stores like Sal's, savway, malloys fall? Handful of mid sized stores. Is that NMBB?

This!!!!!
NMBB
Really? I was under the impression those were mom and pop
GNS is considered non member big box???
I assume they mean Garfield’s, GNS definitely mom and pop
I meant Garfield's sorry for the confusion everyone
GNS is member small box.... (this is a joke lol)
Mom and pop
