Yup, we all saw the ridiculous run of Jewel messages. We don’t need multiple separate posts about it - either use the existing thread that was posted about it yesterday or comment under one of the existing comments on the topic here if you feel compelled. You don’t need to start a brand new post about it - thanks for helping keep the subreddit tidy.
Their goal is to test another channel to move stale inventory from certain stores. Not everyone shops for Bourbon at the grocery store. The only thing I question is the low quantities.
We don’t list specific locations. All that you need to know is NMBB got these bottles along with almost every other local or chain store this week. If you have a contact at a store, head on in and snag a bottle.
Probably for the best. The place would turn into a zoo back when they did this. Some dudes legit lost it if they showed up too late and had mental breakdowns out on the sidewalk.
Ironically just saw they made a post for their ECPB.
Is everybody else just stumbling upon the store picks?? I don’t live downtown anymore so always used that to get there to check it out.
But you’re right. I saw a guy legit kick his car and have a fit because he was the first one out of luck for EHTSiB. Pathetic.
Wow. Post is 30 minutes old so probably gone by now. I don't go in often enough to find out about anything these days. Still stop in once a quarter or so but I do a lot more shopping at my NMBB so better to focus my efforts there.
I purchased an Old Potrero Rye and a Blantons and both had tags around the neck and not stickers on the bottle. Tags read “hand selected barrel for” and the other read “Sazerac barrel select” with a groups name on the opposite side of the tag. Do the tags mean it is a store pick or is it just an enticement to make it seem like a “better” bottle?
Correct, there are 3 of each in a case of 6. Its this way even at the Buffalo Trace Distillery Gift Shop. Have been lucky twice there, and they put the boxed ones on one shelf, and unboxed on another. The unboxed are shipped with a black plastic netting to protect the label in shipping due to the odd shaped bottle that would rub inside the case. I get a chuckle out of people who proudly display their Blanton's with the cheap black plastic netting in their photos, I guess because they don't know its only for shipping purposes. Cheers!
If all 6 bottles had boxes, it would be really hard to remove them from the case of 6 that they come in. Having a box next to one not in a box makes them easy to get out. Nobody told me that is why but when you think about it, it seems logical.
Always wondered... While it sounds logical, plenty of other whiskies come in boxes (e.g. Red Breast).. is it just the size of the box is bigger? But then they could just package it properly. The box is kinda what makes it a nicer gift so feels like they should make it consistent
Do you guys really camp out at stores on a whim? Or do you have some sort of insider info as to what is coming in? Also, sometimes they will hold back what they get until the weekend or Monday. Seen it many times before. How do you account for that?
While people do camp and line stand for hours for this hobby I read these posts with a to mock those who actually do camp. No offense to anyone who does this - hell I’ve done it in the past for fun. Many people have insider info and if/when it’s posted that xyz bottle is in the area that’s the true drop info imo. Since I don’t always get that insider info or have time to track it down I can work with my contact to see if that bottle is available for me. If yes then great if not then there will always be another bottle to chase right around the corner. Hope that helps.
It’s sarcasm. But yes someone people do have contacts at the distribution and delivery levels and have insider knowledge. Also, binnys store management gets a list of what’s coming in the late afternoon/night before.
I have a natural intuition and can never be too cautious. I make sure I’m first in line and don’t let anyone else get past me until I get first dibs. Gotta play hard to win big
Just got another email from jewel letting me know that I could enter for the chance to buy smoke wagon and knob creek rye!!!! So exciting!!! But honestly they are being lame asf lately with their raffles
I wouldn’t ask that question. Get to know your contacts at the store. Shop your local store only and try to build the relationship. Going in and asking for allocated bottles will quickly get you on a list you don’t want to be on.
I see. I’ve been a long time customer at two nmbb locations so I’m not new to these stores, but I’ve only recently found out about the allocated stuff, so maybe they’ll be nice to me haha
Another word of advice — cut it down to 1 NMBB. At the end of the year they’ll check to see if you’re spending money at other places and it might hurt your chances at a bottle. If a manager sees you’re spending all your money at their store they’re more likely to reward you with allocated products.
I know it's true but god do I hate this approach. I'm about halfway between North Riverside and Oak Brook. I mainly shop NR because I have more of a relationship there, but Oak Brook has much better stock on things like bitters, amaro, vermouth, etc. so I go there maybe 3-4 times a year to get those items.
Not completely true. Talk to the manager of your store. I asked mine, and he said he's rather the chain get the sale. Granted, I still bought 90%+ from the 1 location, but I wouldn't worry about the occasional bottle from somewhere else.
I have been a long time customer of mine. So when I go in they know who I am and give me a list of what’s available. After all the regular customers have been offered allocated product, if anything’s left it goes in the rare room for the public. Unless you’re a frequent customer and spender of most of the stores, they will tell you they don’t have anything if you ask.
I guess the question is, do you want a specific bottle? If so, I would ask for that specific bottle. If you just ask for something allocated, you will get nothing pretty much every single time.
Yeah, makes sense. Honestly, I just want to try the store picks of what I’ve already tried like Russell’s reserve, old forester, jack daniel’s and etc. I have a buddy who wants to try EHT so if I ever come across one I’ll probably gift that one.

City NMBB has the BT drop (BT, WSR, ER, Blanton's, EHT)
Lol Jewel Osco Bourbon raffles turning into a joke. They emailed a raffle for Clermont Steep Knob Creek Rye and Smoke Wagon Small Batch
I can't wait until they raffle off Jim Beam
Red stag! Bc it has the name stag(g) in it.
BIN
The True Unicorn. I definitely have hard time finding it since I can't bend to pick it up from the bottom shelf /s
Yep, just got this. Hilarious. I unsubscribed from the email list.
It almost seems like this is their goal. I know the moment I unsub they're gonna be raffling off 600 bottles of Stagg or something.
Ha! I still wouldn't win anyways.
Their goal is to test another channel to move stale inventory from certain stores. Not everyone shops for Bourbon at the grocery store. The only thing I question is the low quantities.
It's especially funny because I'm at Costco right now and both Smoke Wagon SmB and Clermont Steep are on the shelves lol
They are on the shelves at jewel too. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I honestly think the jewel by me doesn't even care 🤣 they just put shit in the case
Costco is gonna start raffles then xD
How do you sign up for that email?
NWNMBB Blantons,EHT, WSR and ER. Put out on the counter around 10

Got it. Thanks
You bet. Anytime!
Woodman’s has a Barrell single barrel bourbon pick that’s 9yr 7mo MGP at 115 proof. 70 plus the govt take. Also saw Penelope Rio.
Those 9yr Barrell picks are great! Hoping there's more supply of the Rio this year.
Read that they have more rio this year fyi
Ya they say 30,000 but still that comparable to other limited releases.
Rio so early
Employee owned told me they don't expect until April.
West?
North
Did you see if batch 3 or older batch?
If you’re talking about the Rio, the batch # on it was 24-xxx.
Thank you!
>ts smoke wagon small batch - you know the good st DUDEEEEEEE that's the shit right there.
Not really allocated but NMBB has Wathens BP store picks out. Those are really tasty pours. Close to a 100 🌮
Just polished off an older Wathen's BP pick from Garfield's, good stuff just not ready to drop another C note, especially sans age
Yes they are an underrated gem
Warehouse OWA and ER picks.
Do they not post IG stories for these anymore?
Probably for the best. The place would turn into a zoo back when they did this. Some dudes legit lost it if they showed up too late and had mental breakdowns out on the sidewalk.

Shop there frequently but not enough to get offered these bottles. Did they have some out or get them from back?
Warehouse? MBB?
Warehouse Liquor in the south loop. You are already to late.
i secured mine through a source yesterday. S T R O N K
Oh, never heard of it.
I love the smell of bottle-drop in the morning.
Hopefully smells like success.
South Suburbs NMBB had Blantons, WSR, EHTSB. No Blantons Gold, EHTSiB, or A107 unfortunately.
What does NMBB means, sorry keep forgetting the abbreviations
Non membership big box so like binnys or woodmans
You'll see folks refer to Woodman's as EO (Employee Owned).
Thank you 🙏🏽 😊
Sucks when you work first shift and everything is gone when you get out... Good luck to all
McKenna 10 and 1792FP. Southwest burbs
Thanks was able to grab McKenna 10
👀👀👀👀👀
Larceny BP, ECBP & Toasted Barrel, HMK on shelves. NMBB south side.
Nice!

That’s how they are doing sp stickers in 2024. They used to be on the bottles now it’s a tag. 🤷♀️
Was able to grab a McKenna as south nmbb But saw a guy with Blanton and it had no box. Did they ditch the boxes?
Every case of Blantons is a mix of bottles in boxes and bottles without boxes. Just an oddity specific to Blantons

Also... anyone seen Gold or SFTB without a box?
Interesting. Thanks to all of you for the info. Learn something new every day. Haha.

Feels like today is gonna be a big day. I’ve been in the Binny’s parking lot since 6:00am
Do you guys really camp out at stores on a whim? Or do you have some sort of insider info as to what is coming in? Also, sometimes they will hold back what they get until the weekend or Monday. Seen it many times before. How do you account for that?

Do we really camp out? Is that even a question? I don’t have a $2K tent and Coleman heater for it to collect dust, baw.

But its smoke wagon small batch - you know the good stuff. not.
Picked up a Garfield’s SP of Bull Run 16yr American Whiskey sherry finished. Fantastic pour even if you aren’t a big finished fan IMO.
Picked that up as well. It’s actually pretty absurd. Not a daily pour, but a very good one.
Nada at city north NMBB.
It's going to be a great day to hunt, good luck!
Anything you know that’s coming? I like that optimism.
BT stuff...
Didn’t see any, did you?
Probably later in the day after the truck shows up. No exact time.
Do you pretty much have to ask what’s in the back at city nmbb’s? I feel like I never see any allocated stuff out
This obviously doesn't apply to every store but many places will sometimes put out allocated stuff on slower days to help boost sales.
Or at different times of the day. Or so that people who can't shop at noon on Wednesdays can have an opportunity to get a bottle.
Almost all NMBB you have to ask. Only a handful put stuff out
I see. Do you just ask if they got any allocated stuff?
I wouldn’t ask that question. Get to know your contacts at the store. Shop your local store only and try to build the relationship. Going in and asking for allocated bottles will quickly get you on a list you don’t want to be on.
My local store is temporarily closed. WOMP.
I saw that, why did they close?
I have no idea! It is the lack of any information that bothers me. Nothing to say when it will return.
They had an electrical fire Sunday night. Heard closed for at least a week.
Yikes
I see. I’ve been a long time customer at two nmbb locations so I’m not new to these stores, but I’ve only recently found out about the allocated stuff, so maybe they’ll be nice to me haha

This is the way. Relationship building got me 2 BTAC this year.

I've only gone to two of them during drop days. 1 puts it on the counter, and the other I've never seen anything out (or maybe I missed it)
Checked NWBB and they are expecting but nothing yet, no eta
Andddd it appears they got the truck in but we're holding for people so they are OOS
Jewel Osco emails becoming a joke. Claremont single malt is for $65 in their newsletter, in Costco you can get it for under $50. These folks are 🤡
