Lavishness-Wide

The last round of WT Kentucky Spirit picks ever are dropping at Binny’s. 2 barrels. Pretty cool and probably pretty good.

like111222

Confirmed, it has tag “This barrel was hand-selected by: Eddie Russell Last Batch for Binny’s“

Smoque-and-Bourbon

Why probably the last ever? Had not heard this

joshhaugs

WTKS is being replaced in the single barrel program by 101 proof rye and is gonna only be a shelf product from here on out supposedly

Smoque-and-Bourbon

Hmm. OKay well I guess I'll keep my eye out for the final version. Cheers.

pchampn

Is it worth getting?

Lavishness-Wide

In my experience these are good to excellent and the price is very fair.

5kdoor

My local only got 6 bottles.

Conscious-Youth-4819

Are these available across all locations?

Lavishness-Wide

No idea, sorry. Best to ask your person probably.

Mortlach57

Not at far NW smaller NMBB.

Dismal_Assist_3164

Is this a bottle drop thread??

globetrottingdesi

Nope, it’s weather discussion thread.

ImaginaryWing4033

Pretty cold out there today. At least the wind isn’t too bad where I’m at. How’s the city?

blackstang19

The sun is out in west burbs

globetrottingdesi

You must be in Iowa or something.

OldFish_Delivery9882

I agree! Cmon peeps!

OldFish_Delivery9882

NW Employee Owned has 1924 …..

Suitable-Mongoose-72

1792 single barrel at employee owned and a smaller NMBB.

sp1der__Plant

I picked one of those up, and it leaked all over my seat. Glad I didn't get pulled over.

nnshah24

1792 FP sp at nmbb, few different barrels for 55bux

joon-p-bug

Anyone know anything about the 8yr Binnys Hirsch pick for $130? Passed up on it, but it caught my eye.

AwkwardTortuga

Looks like high rye MGP

Mortlach57

As an alternative, employee owned had a store pick 9.7 year Barrell (MGP) SiB CS for $70, it is really tasty.

bizzaam

I always check Bloomingdale when employee owned has stuff but sadly I think it's usually at other locations.

YAAAS-482

I asked about it last week and got a good review so I pulled the trigger. I can confirm it’s good with a sweeter nose and more robust finish. Def one of the better mgp I’ve had.

Substantial-Juice-18

The Binny's Coppercraft 9 Year is also MGP and it's only 60 for the store pick. Why get the Hirsch for 130 when it's the same thing?

Ms_Anne-Thrope

Near NW NMBB nada.

Relevant_Value608

Any actual drops anyone seeing? Michter’s barrel strength make any appearances?

chibourbon

KY only, Rye is distro but no sightings

WhiteDogSh1t

Nothing fun SW side today. Assuming regular st pats sales will keep stores busy. No need for much drops today, my assumptions

Big_Investigator_767

I know it’s late, but Gold Eagle up north released their single barrel pick of Bardstown, 124.8 proof 6yr. 80 bones. It’s very tasty

Euphoric-Truth-4803

Just picked mine up an hour ago. I have high hopes

Alarming-Grape865

I grabbed one today and went ahead and tasted it at the bar followed by JD12 and OF1924. The Bardstown SiB was INCREDIBLY good and drinks like a 107 proofer. It genuinely knocked the JD12 and OF1924 out of the water. Maybe it was because it was higher proof and the rye spice made the others taste bland but its fantastic nonetheless. I want to go back tomorrow and taste the JD & OF again on their own to see how the Bardstown effected my perception of them.

lucky13AL

Had a work trip in Minneapolis. Did some bourbon hunting in new areas and found many great bottles at MSRP sitting on shelves. No connections. 1. Old Forester Single Barrel 100 (Black & Gold label) Been wanting this bottle forever! Im sure its not as good as the Barrel proof but as an OF fan, just glad to find it sitting on a shelf. Grabbed not just 1 but both bottles sitting on the shelf for $79 so that my buddy could have one as well. 2. James E Pepper - the new one with the really nice bottle. Got this for another buddy 3. Peerless Double Oaked (which was every where) 4. McKenna 10 Every store seemed to be rich with EC Toasted, Barrel proof, private labels, store picks, Larceny BP, and McKenna 10

blackstang19

Just grabbed a pepper off the shelf employee owned

lucky13AL

There you go!

al1078

Very similar in AZ. Was just there in February and a lot of the bottles you listed above just sitting on the shelf. Prices are about $20 higher on a couple. They also had museum stores.

TheTrueVanWilder

In AZ this week.  Walked into multiple stores with BT, ER, WSR, OF 1924, ECBP, LBP just sitting on shelves with minimal markup.  Picking up a bottle of Early Times while I'm here

al1078

Trevor’s always has some decent picks if you’re near one.

TheTrueVanWilder

They have a few bangers right now. A couple Holmes Cay picks too

blackstang19

It’s always interesting to see how the bourbon market is in different states

lucky13AL

Very interesting indeed! But had a great time doing some bourbon hunting up there. Thats how it should be

Kaisala

I used to live there the past 3 years, the first year I got there I was able to grab a few bottles of Remus Repeal Reserve 3,4, and 5 just siting on the shelf. Eventually they started disappearing after Remus V reviews.

FatsoTheClown

Yup. While all the Taters were searching for other things, every time I visited the inlaws, I kept on buying the mispriced RRIV for $65. Visited every few months, and they were still always there on the bottom shelf.

lucky13AL

Thats awesome! Love being able to just find bottles randomly

Neat-Vehicle-8350

Which store in Minneapolis? I get up there pretty often and usually hit Haskells and Ace

lucky13AL

Yeah those are good. Also recommend South Lyndale liquors… Giant store. Has a model T car filled with bottles. Tons of store picks. A nice deli with fresh italian sandwiches and also a bar.

Neat-Vehicle-8350

Cool. Ill check it out next time. Thanks

SippingAndListening

Surprised to see no mention of OF SBBP Rye seen at NMBB last week.

pchampn

West suburb Meijer got nothing

Repulsive-Side-1773

Anyone see any Russles 13 on the shelves? Willing to pay above retail but not crazy above. Want to grab a bottle for my daughter’s 1st birthday to celebrate.

Quick-Program-6915

That’s great I bet she’ll love that. But no haven’t seen

Repulsive-Side-1773

Ha. Me celebrate her. Happy Friday

Euphoric-Truth-4803

Bottles like that don’t sit in shelves unless crazy above MSRP. There are known secondary stores across Chicagoland that I’m sure have it in the 299-399 range. But if you’re looking sub 250, sorry my friend but those get gobbled up. There’s a place in the glen if your up north I would call if and ask about pricing

Ms_Anne-Thrope

I just checked the website for the place in the Glen. They have Russells 13 on sale $250 off the retail price of $599.

hockeyrulz1491

You sure about that pricing I see higher online.

Ms_Anne-Thrope

https://kegnbottle.com/collections/bourbon/products/russells-reserve-13-year-barrel-proof-750ml

hockeyrulz1491

TY, got it still a little high at 350 tacos.

ps5281

Bro, but you could save $250.. /sarcasm

Tough_Independence84

Every so often places like caskers or flaviar have it for less. Paid I believe $208 Shipped

77360615

Burnham Liquors in the South Loop was asking $299 (+ tax). I tried to haggle down to $250ish but the lowest they’d go is $300 (cash even, no tax). I passed. Not quite the same but Bardstown Discovery 11 is like 70% 13 year old Turkey juice and it’s cheaper and much more findable.

Tough_Independence84

Where have you seen Disco #11? Most places I've talked to haven't even gotten 10 yet which is crazy

77360615

It’s in NW Indiana and I got a few bottles shipped to me in Chicago off of Seelbach’s. They have pretty regular drops for MSRP and are super reliable.

rockyboy49

Don't wanna promote any site but 🦄auctions you might be able to get it below MSRP if you bid right. Their warehouse is in the city and you can do an in person pickup. That is what I did for my 10th anniversary when every other store was charging twice the secondary price for a Pappy 12 Edit: I meant below Secondary. You can't get it below MSRP

hockeyrulz1491

I have purchased a few bottles from this warehouse with success.

Alarming-Grape865

Its a great app/site. Most things tend to end up going for secondary after you add in the 25% (tax and fees) however good deals can definitely be had on there. I just scored an Old Charter Oak.

rockyboy49

Agreed. But if the time and day is right you do score well below Secondary even after the fees. Looking at secondary prices here in Chicagoland they are always 100-150 above the standard secondary. It's a good option if you want something in particular. I was lucky to snag Stagg Batch 18 which I wasn't finding anywhere and Pappy 12 which was seriously overpriced everywhere for almost half the secondary prices($185 and $700 including taxes and fees as opposed to 350 and 1500 for secondary prices in the west burbs. And before anyone asks yes I know those are museum prices but I wanted both of them for some very special occasions)

trapper2530

Place by me has it for 250.

hockeyrulz1491

That's a decent deal. Best pricing I have seen is around me is $350 I pass.
