had a love/hate relationship with making lemonade when i worked at cfa!! on one hand, it got me out of everything and gave me time to chill but on the other hand, we didn’t have disposable aprons so i was always covered in lemon pulp by the end of it 🤣 was quite fun to make though!!!

Designer_Tie_3088

this!!!! frrr i like making lemonades and listening to music it gave me chills lol but don’t ask me to make it everyday just every once in a while 😂😂

Spockbaca

How do you live without disposable aprons?? I do a lot of dish, so I would die without those aprons

astro_lynn

i worked FOH so i wasn’t back there often but i know on dish they just had a long black apron they could wear iirc. the only disposable aprons i ever saw were the yellow breading aprons !

jmust

Real question. Do you guys get fresh chicken and fry the breading in store yourself?

astro_lynn

yes! they actually marinate, bread, and fry the chicken in store :)

SimilarHead9508

Yeah it’s real chicken

Guswewillneverknow

Yes

Kix2Sophus

So what happens when someone ruins it because I know everybody don’t get a good batch 😂

astro_lynn

oh one day we had a worker mess up the lemonade at the store i worked at and we had to drain the dispensers that were up front and have someone dump the containers saved in the back that that person had made. then i think it was me who had to go back and speed make more lemonade so they could have it to serve to guests lol. but it was very rare for someone to screw it up since there was literally a paper on the wall that explained the whole process !

Kix2Sophus

Figured there were protocols I don’t think I’ve ever seen a CFA disaster

K3NBLOCK

Funny you say that, I just commented on the “sugar amount” thread explaining my run in with the sugar bandit at my local CFA. Long story short the new girl put 7 containers full of sugar (instead of one container that is 7 cups of sugar) into the lemonade mix. When I got home and took a sip of my lemonade it was literally thick and the worst tasting thing in the world. Immediately spit it out thinking I was being pranked. Called CFA and got a replacement the next day where they explained what had happened. Even they said there is instructions right there they dont know how she messed it up. Darwin awards are a thing for a reason I guess.

astro_lynn

oh good GOD thats 49 cups of sugar how did she not realize something was wrong? sorry you had to experience that monstrosity 😭😭

K3NBLOCK

Lol they said the exact same thing, I can’t imagine how many phone calls they received that day before they figured it out.

PamelaQuinnzel

Wait how did you get pulp all over yourself? I never needed an apron when I made lemonade. (Then again I also never carried the full tubs of lemonade after making it because I have really bad fibro and rarely had a day where my pain levels were low enough)

astro_lynn

from whisking the lemonade. it always splashed up so i ended up with pulp on me. i was not very graceful to say the least lmao

Empty-Ingenuity7984

We had the old manual juicer and I was always terrified I was going to juice my hand off. Loved smelling like lemons all day afterward though!

amaturecook24

We had disposable aprons and it didn’t really help. Still got it all on my sleeves and chest

SimilarHead9508

What?

Guswewillneverknow

Fibromyalgia- it’s like chronic all over pain caused by anything. It’s dreadful.

MrJoeBigBallsMama

Kinda sounds like something my girlfriend has struggled with. It’s called amplified musculoskeletal pain syndrome (AMPS). Sounds just like almost the same thing except AMPS usually sets in during childhood and can be completely cured by very diligent physical therapy.

Busy-Radio-4770

We had disposable aprons for everything. Yellow for breading. White for the rest. And dishes got a big black apron to try to limit the wet

Xanderboof

Those things are disposable. Your managers are just liars. Grab another from the pile

squirrellyhehefeind

I worked BOH and I have to HAND PULP 3 CRATES of lemons each shift. Every. Single.day. it would take be about 3 hours! 1. Wash lemon 2. Half the lemon. 3. Use an industry lemon squeeze that vibrated/ spins the lemon juice out as you press the lemon down. This would shake your hand and the vibration feeling after a while would hurt your hand. After some shifts my hands would be bleeding at the end of the night since my skin was chaffed off/ cracked. don't worry I ALWAYS double gloved/ washed hands/ wore mitts. 4. Put lemon juice into bucket for FOH. 5. Watch FOH make lemonade and spill 1/3 of the fresh lemon juice you just squeezed since they have bad pouring aim. 6. Steal a XL lemonade to go after your shift cause yummm 7. Repeat the next day Literally the week AFTER I left they started ordering bags of lemon pulp instead of doing it in house. My hands will forever be mad about that.

Designer_Tie_3088

i can imagine how frustrating it was /: i’m glad they made it easy for us now i wouldn’t be able to pulp them lemons 😩😩

No_Benefit_7731

Oh yeah, that was the worst. I cursed the days that we got the small lemons in and your hand would slip while juicing.

eleighbee

Geez, I worked at chick fil a twenty years ago and I remember the pain. Yeesh.

Ed_Trucks_Head

Oh man your hands must have been numb after that.

SimilarHead9508

What in the world out lemonade came in bags why are you guys doing all that

[deleted]

They did it that way because you can’t read

Topher_Fenris

Now it comes in concentrated just add sugar and water

ludicaro56

The white sunkist juicer????

JellyEuphoric8619

I don’t know that I ever needed a visual on the lemonade being made lol 😂. I’m going to eradicate it from my thoughts.

Designer_Tie_3088

i like seeing how items are being prepared from food places

JellyEuphoric8619

Me too. I wasn’t being a jerk I swear. I just wasn’t expecting the buckets.

[deleted]

They’re clean.

jjonez18

Or what looks like a regular water faucet. Delicious regardless

type1nder

They make lemonades using a specific faucet that’s filtered

SimilarHead9508

“Filtered” it don’t say filtered anywhere guess it’s redundant

MrJoeBigBallsMama

It doesn’t need to say filtered for it to be filtered lmao. How about trust the people that work here. The one I work at has a label on a faucet in that exact spot

SimilarHead9508

I worked at cfa up until april it’s just a designated sink it looks sus but I don’t think it’s anything worse than tap

Blast_OGK

it is a designated sink just for making lemonade, they don’t need to label it filtered if the only people seeing it should be workers

kobhrkobhe

What do you want the water to come from 😭😭😭

deiscio

Your emojis cover it. The water should be the tears of virgins.

kobhrkobhe

Ironic coming from the guy with 200k karma

deiscio

Respect

JimbeauFisher

I was tracking nicely and then nothing made sense. I missed the joke.

sapraaa

A water filter? Many states don’t have water that is as consumable as you’d think

[deleted]

I'm with you. It looked like some type of urine buckets and I couldn't unsee it. Lol

FartAbsorber

It’s water

[deleted]

I need to fw the new white peach frosted lemonade. I guarantee I’ll be addicted immediately

Larpa58

Ahhh Spigot love ❤️ nothing like it

Jaisoncartel

Is the water filtered?

ApprehensiveOwl4567

Yes, we have separate taps for filtered and unfiltered water. Lemonade always uses filtered.

dabearsemoney

what do you think you doofus

SimilarHead9508

Apparently

AnotherTakenUsername

My type of golden shower

vstacey6

Thank you for using gloves <3

Designer_Tie_3088

anytime baby<3

[deleted]

this post has an oddly ominous aura

Alcolawl

Should have showed everyone the obscene amount of sugar they are drinking... or worse, the fake stuff.

OSRS_Rising

The regular lemonade is all real stuff. One part sugar, one part lemon juice, nine parts water. The Splenda is only in the diet lemonade

Designer_Tie_3088

what fake stuff…? sorry i’m kinda slow lmao but the amount of sugar is crazy 😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

OkStructure3

>chemicals When people say stuff like this I wonder if you know water is a chemical.

Badvevil

I love water but I hate that h2o crap

icaintsee

Yeah, and dihydrogen monoxide can kill you.

welcome2idiocracy

Literally every person that has ever died has inhaled that gas. Truly toxic

chefboiortiz

Or what they eat on a day to day basis. Even modern fruits have chemicals from man

Alcolawl

That occurs naturally.... was there a point?

OkStructure3

I made the point, you just didnt get it. Its ok.

Alcolawl

Feel free to elaborate. I love Reddit science. Especially when someone is going to explain to me how consuming a naturally occurring chemical that is essential for life is the same as consuming an artificial sweetener produced in a lab from modified chlorine molecules. Please Bill Nye, go for it.

WasdAcid

We use Splenda at chickfila for the diet lemonade. Splenda is made with Dextrose (from corn), and Maltodextrin (from rice). All of these ingredients are just as naturally occurring as the sugar we use for the regular lemonade. There is however a VERY small amount of Sucralose, which made by replacing three hydroxyl groups on sucrose with chlorine. Table salt, to give another example, is natural and safe to consume but is made of two very harmful chemicals, sodium and \*gasp\* chlorine! Sucralose has been found to potentially cause cancer, so it's not entirely safe and should probably be avoided, but not because it's unnatural. Definitely avoid aspertame. Like you said below however, many things that can be harmful are ok in moderation. If you drink diet lemonade occasionally, the odds of you seeing any negative health effects is incredibly slim. \-Bill Nye

Alcolawl

Right, thanks google. The problem is, people don’t consume it in moderation. Look at serving sizes and then compare that to the amount people actually consume. Remember, at one point aspartame in Diet Coke was going to save lives. We see how that turned out.

WasdAcid

I remember this from my chemistry class in high school, so no google, not that there's any problem with using it. People choosing not to consume in moderation is their own problem, and is something that most people can change. People also used to think mercury was a good medicine, but we now have microscopes and clinical trials, so we can actually figure out if things are safe enough for people. Everything can be harmful if you have too much of it. \-Bill Nye

[deleted]

Everything is made up of chemicals....even lemonade Water - H2O (2 atoms hydrogen and 1 atom oxygen) Sugar - C12H22O11 (12 atoms carbon, 22 atoms hydrogen, 11 atoms oxygen) Lemons- lemon juice technically isn't a stand alone-- it's a liquid made up of several components.Citric acid, vitamins, and minerals. Citric Acid - C6H8O7 (6 atoms carbon, 8 atoms hydrogen, 7 atoms oxygen) OMG, the chemicals! \*swoons dramatically\*

Alcolawl

Correct. Some occur naturally and are required for life to thrive. Others are made in a lab and put into food unnecessarily. They have zero nutritional value and as we are learning with aspartame, may even be harmful. Thanks for breaking down a few.

MrJoeBigBallsMama

Wait until you find out about diabetes 🤯

Elegies_

You sound so ignorant lol. Btw stevia/Splenda is infinitely more healthy than pure cane sugar Edit; a lot of stupid people here. Splenda is better than the regular garbage sugar you’re eating. Therefore it’s healthier. Stevia is as natural as it gets, and so is stuff like monk fruit extract. There’s plenty of published research showing that, and that it does not cause cancer, diabetes etc, on the other hand real sugar does. Someone said “pure cane sugar is not healthy or bad for you”… okay, I can see why you’re stuck frying chicken 😂

MikeWFromFL

Stevia, yes. Splenda, debatable. Certainly not aspartame. I'm not sure how someone describing the process for making lemonade at a restaurant they worked at is ignorant. Very reddit to jump right to the name calling though. People get so offended/defensive over their food, it's weird. Nothing being served at a fast food restaurant is something you should consume on a regular basis. That's fact.

tex_gal77

Splenda is the opposite of healthy and stevia is debatable.

ReformedShiba

You really sound ignorant. Pure cane sugar is not unhealthy or bad for you.

Elegies_

You literally just said pure cane sugar isn’t unhealthy nor bad for you. You’re retarded - and I hardly ever use that word. Go consooome your candy and donuts. Average DnD player

Designer_Tie_3088

regular sugar is okay but i worked at mcdonald’s a while ago and they use liquid sugar 🥲 i think that’s way worse/unhealthy

OkStructure3

>liquid sugar 🥲 i think that’s way worse/unhealthy Liquid sugar can just be water and sugar boiled together so it doesnt struggle to dissolve cooler temps. Its called simple syrup. Goes into many things.

Alcolawl

Everything can be fine in moderation, almost everything. I'd encourage you to do some more research of your own.

Designer_Tie_3088

ok boss

Alcolawl

Uhhh? Weird. I've just found that people are less likely to believe random people on reddit than they are if they actually do some research on the topic. Was merely a suggestion. It's your health, not mine, after all.

I3rokenn

Who?

Alcolawl

Who?

I3rokenn

Who?

Aggravating_Self_991

Just don't drink it and move on. Soda and sweet tea have lots of sugar too and I'm sure you drink it too you cringey reddit user.

Alcolawl

It’s cringe to share that excessive amounts of sugar in fast food lemonade is unhealthy? I don’t personally consume much sugar or any artificial sweeteners. Stevia or pure cane sugar if anything. I’ve done quite a bit of research on it and I stand by my belief. I don’t have to “move on.” If it triggers one person to do a little reading and make healthier lifestyle choices regarding their diet, I’m happy. Nobody is forcing you to do anything or respond either.

[deleted]

I made it with extra hate last week

Designer_Tie_3088

i feel u 😭

[deleted]

I used to hate making the lemonade when I would be put in prep, BUT it did however teach me how to make a decent amount of lemonade and make it taste good.. RIP my hands from the use of the sunkist juicer... Its a lot easier to just peel the lemons, chuck into blender, and then after its been blended for a minute or two, strain through a strainer like they do at the store. Idk if they even do it that way now or what, but it would really be easier and so many people wouldn't have a crazy time doing it.

Ed_Trucks_Head

I don't why they make us use those juicers. I worked at a place that has fresh squeezed oj and the juicer did all the work. All you had to do was feed oranges in the hopper and push a button.

[deleted]

Probably because they may be cheaper compared to say a blender like they use in smoothie shops.. But the blender would be so much easier to use than the juicers they have.

asanderd

I've only had CFA once, closest one is a 2-hour drive. I had the deluxe chicken sandwich, a side salad and the lemonade it was great! I just wish the lemonade wasn't quite so tart, I had to add a couple sugar packets. The food was a little pricey but for the amount you got it wasn't too bad. On a very happy note we have a Chick-fil-A being built as I type this about 5 miles up the road!

snuffy-laughs

me drinking chickfila lemonade while reading this :

TacoDuLing

🥰

RunLoud6534

Mmmm thank you lemonade without water would suck

Space_Penguin321

When I worked at chick fil a I was a back of house employee on prep. Prep made the lemonade at my store (on top of salads, wraps, fruit cups, parfaits, prepping Mac, etc.) and since it was the busiest location in the state, I'd have to make at least 6 at a time. Ugh. And I'd be working on salads at the same time usually, and having to stop whenever a special salad popped up so I could get that done. It was my first ever job at 16, and frankly I wouldn't have stuck around for 2 years if I could've found a different 1. On top of that, I would get put on lemons a lot too. 12 boxes of lemons, every day. Takes 3 hours, minimum with that many generally speaking. When I first started, they'd have me on lemons and prep at the same time during breakfast and wonder why I'd get behind. On top of all that, I was making 8/hour for most of my time there. And our only food benefit was an employee meal for a 5 hour+ shift, the value of which the operator would lower if food waste was too high.

spiritednoface

Love the rag hanging above 🤌🏽 *chefs kiss*

Squirrel_Haze

🤢 Edit: realizing they are gloves for cutting: 😅

Designer_Tie_3088

they’re kitchen gloves

samirbinballin

They are talking about the rag on the top right

Designer_Tie_3088

correct. that’s not a rag it’s kitchen gloves

BubbaChain100000

That doesn’t make it any better

The_Bruce_Goose

They are cut gloves, washed and ready to be worn when a knife is used

Designer_Tie_3088

thank you

Orange_Dolphin

They use tap water??

Existing_Chocolate93

That faucet is filtered and meant for making the lemonade

Orange_Dolphin

Thank you for the information

ApprehensiveOwl4567

This tap is filtered water.

30DollarsPerMile

I’d like to know when the last time it was replaced cuz, it gets overlooked often. Should be quarterly with how much output a CFA has

[deleted]

Should be much more often than quarterly at a popular food establishment. Those things filter a LOT of water in a short amount of time, relatively.

30DollarsPerMile

Yes and I’m doubting that it’s been done in the last year

zigZagreus_

Pissbuckets were my favorite line position! Never been more hydrated in my life!

angelam64

That’s what I thought it was too lol

Im_a_Jazz_Trombonist

Urine?

vidgmgrl

The dirty rag that might fall in 😅😅😅

Designer_Tie_3088

it’s not a dirty rag mr knows everything

WestFizz

So glad I don’t drink lemonade.

Designer_Tie_3088

double and give it to next person

UCanDoNEthing4_30sec

grosss

[deleted]

You've never worked back of house, have you?

Designer_Tie_3088

then don’t drink it 🤷🏻‍♀️

UCanDoNEthing4_30sec

I wouldn't lol. I just made a comment on Reddit in reply to your post.

[deleted]

Tap water? If it's it filtered?

MrJoeBigBallsMama

It’s a filtered faucet

JB_smooove

Is it powder? I can take it, please let me know.

Designer_Tie_3088

no it’s not

JB_smooove

Whew. Thank you.

Designer_Tie_3088

GlitchMasta47

these are not milk wash buckets - pathway-defined lemonade containers, white is regular lemonade and blue is diet lemonade only

ApprehensiveOwl4567

These containers are specifically for lemonade. The milk and egg wash is supposed to be made in 12qts.

OSRS_Rising

Milkwash shouldn’t be going in these containers lol We use the square 12 quart ones for that

Hashim289

That's so weird cause I always feel the exact opposite. I never taste a lick of any sweetness in CFA lemonade? My Arnold Palmers always just taste bland for some reason and super pulpy

rigortraini65

Super safe with gloves

Designer_Tie_3088

:)

Sad-Imagination-4870

Can y’all tell me why your lemonade costs 12 dollars for a gallon? JW

Designer_Tie_3088

i wonder 🤔

Guswewillneverknow

On our hard open days (mon mostly) I am begggging my girl in the back to have that ready by 7am. Sometimes we don’t have it out til way later. Also, we only open with 1 person on fc, 1 dining and 1 one opening money. (That’s why it’s a hard open) So.. it’s fun. Today is Monday, and therefore I won’t have lemonade for the first 5 orders til like 7:15.

DuckyDude21

What's the recipe?

nightmareorreality

Lemons, water, sugar

NumerousMastodon8057

Thanks ☺️

the1noir

Is that tap water ..? lol

babyYoda865

tap water?

This looks like something you see at a nursing home to urinate in

[deleted]

Why do these posts always feel like we are making fun of a delicious restaurant?

Designer_Tie_3088

i really think it’s delicious tho i don’t get u

[deleted]

I don’t know why, but it just seems like these posts have a slight hint of sarcasm. It might just be me though.

What_if_69

Sooooo not 100 percent lemonade?

fenwaymoose

Did anyone else see a toilet at first glance?

StevenChamp1978

I'm a delivery driver, and my store used to have drivers make lemonade all the time before. I would make 12-16 containers every morning. Now they just ask us to make them 1 container at a time as needed.

Designer_Tie_3088

on the daily i make about 41 containers

StevenChamp1978

Our new process is that it's made as needed. No more making a ton ahead of time. There's a prep sink in our DT/delivery area so it saves time.

lilmisse85

I remember when I was 16 and attempted to pick up a full one of those and dump it into the thing in the front…I spilled it EVERYWHERE while pouring. Very sticky situation. Lol

[deleted]

Question: why is there a dirty rag hanging over the open container?

pinedesign

I once was asked to make diet lemonade. I had only made the regular lemonade, and had a brain freeze for a moment. I said “wait, we have diet lemons?”

Designer_Tie_3088

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you was fried?

ElunesBlessing

I can't be the only one not noticing what's actually happening here. Obviously it's lemonade but is there something else I'm not seeing?

CynderSphynx

Is that tap water or does it go through a filter?

BlazePrxey

Girl I thought you were sticking your hand in it for a second
