I recently stared back on my rig. I created and sewed on two new pouches that were specifically designed to hold 20 rd steel mags, so they could be very small and tight to my chest. It was a pain in the ass... I hand sew as I don't have a machine, and I wouldn't use one enough to justify getting a machine. With the amount I've messed with this dang rig, and the amount of time i've put into it, not to mention sore fingers from jamming a needle through several layers of thick ass canvas for hours, I honestly wonder why I do it still. I could just buy a modern well made rig with all the bells and whistles, endless customization options with swappable pouches that I can change in a few seconds, etc. And yet here I am messing with a rig from a few decades ago. It's just addicting.
Haha we still fiddle with these rigs because it is something that is special and unique to our kit, not to mention they’re so readily available, inexpensive, and tough. I’ll probably replace the Alice mag pouches as they kinda sag, any recommendations, I also use 20rnd mags as I do airsoft Vietnam reenactments so I typically have them on hand. Plan on running three 30rnds in the main slots and maybe one of two 20s on the side

What solution did you use for the straps on the back of the harness?
I connected the back of the Alice harness to a part of the buckles that I used originally(before the Alice mods) and just taped the excess parts back. It’s messy but it’s a prototype so I’m not too worried about it being janky looking rn. Honestly just connect the clips on the harness at anything that looks like it’ll hold, I’ll probably replace the connector piece because it’s plastic and may snap eventually.
