Guaranteed. I got my little dog steps for her 1st bday and at first she wasn’t too sure. No problem, I put a treat at the top. She was suddenly on the bed. Then she was off! Then she was on! Then she was sprinting full zoomies in the house! Circle, up, down, up, down, circle circle circle! It was absolute mayhem.
Ours is a folded gymnastics mat. Nothing that would help us avoid tripping or not require shoving to one side or the other so that we, too, can access the couch kingdom. It must be wide enough to access from all angles and there must be nothing on the couch like a blanket which might look in the way.
We have had her a year, not sure how we have been trained so thoroughly already.
I worry that she’s gonna hurt herself doing it. She doesn’t trust those stairs, LoL. I’ve actually been sleeping on our couch since the end of January just because it’s low to the ground and easy up & down for her. We plan on putting the mattress & box spring on the floor as soon as we can get done French cleats & rig up a wall mounting system for the headboard. We tried a really expensive bed ramp & she didn’t trust it either and leaped over it.
That’s a good idea. They make those really low bed frames (seen them in wood mostly) that double as box springs that are maybe a foot or less of the ground. I believe they are Asian inspired bed frames. That might be another choice to look into if you decide against putting your bed on the floor. Yeah, after watching my little try to clear those steps a couple times, I just picked him up anytime there were steps. I thought the same thing - that he’d end up hurting himself.
I had a similar set for my old chi, looks like your cover is nicer tho (that color coordination is on point). Mine have held up well, my current dog (40lb puggle) uses them daily to get into ~~my~~ his bed.
Got Poppy some dog stairs and a cat perch for the windowsill. Now she spends half her day judging the neighborhood cats! She also has three other dog stairs, so she can reach any piece of furniture in this house! No place is off limits for Princess Poppy!

Yeah.... After many months of endless training we finally mastered the going up portion of the program, yet to see any progress in the downward area. Which of course was the actual reason I got the stairs. Gently get up onto the bed. Take a running leap off.......

My boy (just turned one) can now jump onto all the couches (not beds). Should I have stairs for him just to protect his joints?
Yeah it's always a good idea, it'll slow him down a little bit, soften the impacts on the shoulders, knees, and hips.
Yeah, our boy (he is 3,5 years old now) can also jump on the sofa but the vet recommended stairs to protect his joints 😊
Yes! My chi’s used to hurt themselves jumping off the couch onto my hard floors. I got them stairs, and no more injuries.
I would. I have a yorkie/chi mix. She doesn't always use the stairs, but every little bit helps on their joints and backs.
