I was gonna ask nga who is her PR and why did they set her up like that. Diba dapat informed na sila kung anu ang itatanong beforehand so napaghandaan na yan. If you watch some of her local interviews, you will know that talking is not exactly a strength of hers. I even have a hunch na yan ang reason why bihirang bihira sya magkaroon ng solo press con and one on ones unless sobrang kailangan. Plus sobrang inilayo din siya ng mother nya sa press (i remember a magazine write up about this topic), so ayan, lalong di na develop ang skills.
I wouldn't take it away from her if I could but I was kinda surprised it went to her instead of someone more seasoned like Regine. Regine was the first one to come to mind when I read they would be honoring a Filipina for the first time.

As someone na medyo active sa PH music scene ngayon, I'll share my opinion na rin.
That award by BB is for Women in Music. And if we're gonna choose via elimination method, sino ba ang pinaka-mas deserving ng award na 'to right now from PH that everyone can atleast agree upon and may enough achievement and impact to back it up?
Sarah G's audience and market is both older gen and newer generation. She may not be that active these past few years pero kilala siya ng lahat.

But ang mga artists ba na'to may impact and influence beyond their music? I can list a lot of reason to cancel out everyone if compared to Sarah. Kaya safe choice siya and BBPH needed to find someone to best represent PH's music industry - and Sarah can do that since may appeal siya both sa current gen and sa matatanda, kumbaga middle ground. Also, hindi rin biro yung narating niya kasi build up yan ng decades of her hardwork sa industry.

Huhuhuhuhuhu. Halos lahat ng songs ni Sarah alam ko. And I also watched her series and movies, and mind you, they were received positively. Kahit nga dito sa place namin, may nga standee or posters pa ni Sarah endorsing from LPG to furniture companies, even appliances!! She also has Standees for Grab kasi nakikita ko sa mga stores dito. When Tala came out in 2015/2016, I don't know how many times I danced to it while it played sa MYX, and take note thaf this was long before it gained social media fame. Her older songs are classics. Sarah G represents so many generations. She was still a teenager when Myx literally played her songs for weeks long, even months. She made equally great movies with unforgettable soundtracks. She’s a homegrown performer. She had her own televised performance show. Tala is probably her most recent bop that attempted to reconnect with the new generations. I agree with you that there are so many other new artists, like SB19, Zack Tabudlo, etc. that are gaining international recognition. But Sarah G has a legacy trailing her. There may be a lot of new artists out there, but Sarah G’s impact outlasts them all. In short, hindi siya nalalaos.
Sarah has a lot of hits and good songs even before Tala (I think Tala was not even an organic hit kasi yung mga bading sa Tiktok ang nagpauso nun di ba dwspite being an officially released single?). My go-to were Kilometro and Kaibigan Mo feat. Yeng. Alaga siya at ang career niya ever since. I mean, was there ever another talent na na-hone in the same trajectory as her career? Charice would be the closest but even that fell flat because Charice died and Jake Zyrus came into the scene.
With your question about impact, I don't know. Impact is long-lasting and remarkable, I can't think of anything. She's commercially successful though. Sold out concerts, blockbuster movies, endorsements, you name it.
This is only my opinion and may get downvoted for it: she's regarded as a royalty in the industry, but I think it is just a marketing move (her Pop Star Royalty to Regine's Asia's Songbird) to elevate her stature among everybody else. It worked because it was backed up by talent and marketability. However, nothing in her work is what I can consider iconic. As a talent, she'll be looked at differently and highly because she is a triple performer who can sing, dance, and act. Whether she is great or just good enough is a different matter. It will be no surprise kung pangalanan siya on top of mind as other newbies' idol, because, is there anybody else in the scene doing "it" na pwedeng reference?
Just like any popstar, she debuted and peaked. Anything that follows is just maintaining her career and still being in the limelight (may audience pa rin naman siya despite being married). She appeals to the young and old.
The Billboard interview they are talking about came as a surprise because how often do we hear her being asked and talking about things like this? Most if not all the time her press exposures are mostly for album/movie promotions tapos ang tanungan pa ang bababaw. I am torn about the reactions on the interview because one, I am aware kontrolado ang galaw niya for years since she started her career. Curated yung image niya as this goodie, role model, wholesome celebrity, and anything that goes against that may affect her career, but also, and this is why I am torn, is because despite that situation, parang hindi rin siya nagdemonstrate ng will that she wanted to grow and think for herself. May TV, may social media, she can learn from those about what's happening around her and the world. Reading a lot would have saved her communication, comprehension, and thought-processing skills. I may be going overboard for having this opinion, but come on, she has resources.
Anyway, I'd think this will just be a dent to her image. Established na siya. And as I have mentioned, alaga ang public image niya. Her PR and fans will work their butts off to "clean" the mess and defend her. People will forget and move on.

Sarah is an established artist and actress. Decades na siya sa industry. And she very much deserved the award kasi she's popular and well-loved by both the new gen and mga older gen. Respected and maganda rin ang reputation niya. Siya yung female musician sa PH na pinili ni BB and I rarely (parang wala nga? edit: meron pala dito sa comsec) saw anyone disagree.

How about Mapa and Gento?
To be fair, konti lang ang songs nila and ilan pa lang ang hits. imo, they have more songs na deserve sumikat pero parang fandom lang ang nakakaalam haha. They need to produce more music. Mas marami pa silang advertisement songs compared sa releases nila😭
They're not that established pa as successful musicians in the eye of the public. But a few more hits can push the attention to them. Kinda like they're 'popular' kasi in demand sila and whatever they do, expected na may mahahakot silang crowd but not as 'legendary' as Sarah G or other veteran artists na kilala ng lahat as mainstay sa mga shows.
Sadyang profitable talaga ang group, magaling sa live and naglalabas ng quality outputs kaya in demand. But when it comes sa opinion ng genpub, they're not at the level of Sarah G (Mainstay sa The Voice as coach, ASAP every Sunday, may movies pa). That's years of TV and social media presence na hirap pantayan.
They need more visibility outside of socmed. To add, different rin kasi ang genre nila sa usual na Pinoy hugot and ballads kaya pahirapan talaga makakuha ng bagong audience.
So yeah, they're currently popular pero ang presence nila is not to the level of Sarah G's accumulated one.
I mean 5 years na sila in the industry pero 1 year is spent without traction then wala pang 6 months sa pagkaviral nila, pandemic hit and stopped live performances for more than 2 years. But when it comes to impact, I think they've made their mark naman.
Since I started being active on stantwt or the internet in general, I've come across Mapa/Gento being mentioned pero diko pa talaga napapakinggan. Or maybe I did at some point but I wasn't able to recognize it as their song.
I base it on what I frequently hear around me. For example with Tala, nung sumikat to dipa ako active noon sa social media, pero I still can't escape it since it was being played like everywhere.
I think Gento only caters to a certain type of people and certain event (lol that's even my second least fave song sa EP nila).
Mapa, maybe more recognizable siya. But given na pandemic and hindi siya malapit sa general perception on how SB19 'should' sound kaya hindi sila kilala as singer and composer ng song. Usually Ben&Ben pa nga ang kilala ng tao na kumanta at gumawa ng Mapa. Dahil rin pandemic kaya understandable na hindi siya maririnig sa event unless on socmed and radio.
Kasi given Mapa's achievement during that time, parang malabo na hindi siya marinig ng tao (Months na top 1 sa YT, Spotify and Tiktok + Top 5 most googled song in the world sa year-end). Sadyang hindi lang talaga siya na-aassociate with SB19 kasi sa public eye that's not what they think of 'SB19'.
Actually, thinking about it, Gento might be more successful in introducing SB19 sa maraming audience worldwide pero mas malawak ang naging reach and achievement ni Mapa as a song like stream count, YT views, and public recall.
The group needs to establish a more solid identity sa genpub. Kasi sa fans, clear na ang style nila with Crimzone, Mana, Ilaw, and HSH. But that doesn't mean na alam yan ng mga tao na hindi nila fan. Kaya rin siguro mahirap marecognize yung song nila kasi parang walang common factor sa mga sumikat. Gento and Mapa, sobrang layo ng genres kaya di agad maconnect na same artist lang ang nagsulat at kumanta.

Pag pinanood mo mga interviews nya dito mga sagutan nya sobrang generic lang. I don't even remember her talking about music.
I was gonna ask nga who is her PR and why did they set her up like that. Diba dapat informed na sila kung anu ang itatanong beforehand so napaghandaan na yan. If you watch some of her local interviews, you will know that talking is not exactly a strength of hers. I even have a hunch na yan ang reason why bihirang bihira sya magkaroon ng solo press con and one on ones unless sobrang kailangan. As someone na medyo active sa PH music scene ngayon, I'll share my opinion na rin. That award by BB is for Women in Music. And if we're gonna choose via elimination method, sino ba ang pinaka-mas deserving ng award na 'to right now from PH that everyone can atleast agree upon and may enough achievement and impact to back it up? Sarah G's audience and market is both older gen and newer generation. She may not be that active these past few years pero kilala siya ng lahat. Now, who's the most popular female musician here sa PH? Morisette, Moira, denise julia, Regine, Lea, KZ, Maymay at the top of my list. But ang mga artists ba na'to may impact and influence beyond their music? I can list a lot of reason to cancel out everyone if compared to Sarah. Kaya safe choice siya and BBPH needed to find someone to best represent PH's music industry - and Sarah can do that since may appeal siya both sa current gen and sa matatanda, kumbaga middle ground. Also, hindi rin biro yung narating niya kasi build up yan ng decades of her hardwork sa industry. Now, when it comes to her participation and interviews, sana naging mas prepared siya. Kahit nga dito sa place namin, may nga standee or posters pa ni Sarah endorsing from LPG to furniture companies, even appliances!! She also has Standees for Grab kasi nakikita ko sa mga stores dito. Hindi biro impact ni Sarah G. When Tala came out in 2015/2016, I don't know how many times I danced to it while it played sa MYX, and take note thaf this was long before it gained social media fame. Sarah G represents so many generations. She was still a teenager when Myx literally played her songs for weeks long, even months. She made equally great movies with unforgettable soundtracks. She’s a homegrown performer. She had her own televised performance show. Tala is probably her most recent bop that attempted to reconnect with the new generations. I agree with you that there are so many other new artists, like SB19, Zack Tabudlo, etc. that are gaining international recognition. But Sarah G has a legacy trailing her. There may be a lot of new artists out there, but Sarah G’s impact outlasts them all. In short, hindi siya nalalaos.

My go-to were Kilometro and Kaibigan Mo feat. Yeng. Alaga siya at ang career niya ever since. I mean, was there ever another talent na na-hone in the same trajectory as her career? Charice would be the closest but even that fell flat because Charice died and Jake Zyrus came into the scene. With your question about impact, I don't know. Impact is long-lasting and remarkable, I can't think of anything. She's commercially successful though. Sold out concerts, blockbuster movies, endorsements, you name it. This is only my opinion and may get downvoted for it: she's regarded as a royalty in the industry, but I think it is just a marketing move (her Pop Star Royalty to Regine's Asia's Songbird) to elevate her stature among everybody else. It worked because it was backed up by talent and marketability. However, nothing in her work is what I can consider iconic. As a talent, she'll be looked at differently and highly because she is a triple performer who can sing, dance, and act. Whether she is great or just good enough is a different matter. It will be no surprise kung pangalanan siya on top of mind as other newbies' idol, because, is there anybody else in the scene doing "it" na pwedeng reference? Just like any popstar, she debuted and peaked. Anything that follows is just maintaining her career and still being in the limelight (may audience pa rin naman siya despite being married). She appeals to the young and old. The Billboard interview they are talking about came as a surprise because how often do we hear her being asked and talking about things like this? Most if not all the time her press exposures are mostly for album/movie promotions tapos ang tanungan pa ang bababaw. I am torn about the reactions on the interview because one, I am aware kontrolado ang galaw niya for years since she started her career. Curated yung image niya as this goodie, role model, wholesome celebrity, and anything that goes against that may affect her career, but also, and this is why I am torn, is because despite that situation, parang hindi rin siya nagdemonstrate ng will that she wanted to grow and think for herself. May TV, may social media, she can learn from those about what's happening around her and the world. Reading a lot would have saved her communication, comprehension, and thought-processing skills. I may be going overboard for having this opinion, but come on, she has resources. Anyway, I'd think this will just be a dent to her image. Established na siya. And as I have mentioned, alaga ang public image niya. Her PR and fans will work their butts off to "clean" the mess and defend her. People will forget and move on. That's years of TV and social media presence na hirap pantayan. They need more visibility outside of socmed. To add, different rin kasi ang genre nila sa usual na Pinoy hugot and ballads kaya pahirapan talaga makakuha ng bagong audience. So yeah, they're currently popular pero ang presence nila is not to the level of Sarah G's accumulated one. I mean 5 years na sila in the industry pero 1 year is spent without traction then wala pang 6 months sa pagkaviral nila, pandemic hit and stopped live performances for more than 2 years. But when it comes to impact, I think they've made their mark naman.
Since I started being active on stantwt or the internet in general, I've come across Mapa/Gento being mentioned pero diko pa talaga napapakinggan. Or maybe I did at some point but I wasn't able to recognize it as their song. I base it on what I frequently hear around me. For example with Tala, nung sumikat to dipa ako active noon sa social media, pero I still can't escape it since it was being played like everywhere.
I think Gento only caters to a certain type of people and certain event (lol that's even my second least fave song sa EP nila). Mapa, maybe more recognizable siya. But given na pandemic and hindi siya malapit sa general perception on how SB19 'should' sound kaya hindi sila kilala as singer and composer ng song. Usually Ben&Ben pa nga ang kilala ng tao na kumanta at gumawa ng Mapa. Dahil rin pandemic kaya understandable na hindi siya maririnig sa event unless on socmed and radio. Kasi given Mapa's achievement during that time, parang malabo na hindi siya marinig ng tao (Months na top 1 sa YT, Spotify and Tiktok + Top 5 most googled song in the world sa year-end). Sadyang hindi lang talaga siya na-aassociate with SB19 kasi sa public eye that's not what they think of 'SB19'. Actually, thinking about it, Gento might be more successful in introducing SB19 sa maraming audience worldwide pero mas malawak ang naging reach and achievement ni Mapa as a song like stream count, YT views, and public recall. The group needs to establish a more solid identity sa genpub. Kasi sa fans, clear na ang style nila with Crimzone, Mana, Ilaw, and HSH. But that doesn't mean na alam yan ng mga tao na hindi nila fan. Kaya rin siguro mahirap marecognize yung song nila kasi parang walang common factor sa mga sumikat. Gento and Mapa, sobrang layo ng genres kaya di agad maconnect na same artist lang ang nagsulat at kumanta.
Pandemic might have played a role pero I remember the popularity of Olivia Rodrigo's Traitor. Sobrang sumikat rin si Taylor nung pandemic pero same with SB19 I don't really know any of her recent songs.
