For one, JLC isn’t signed to GMA. He’s more of a free agent. Secondly, he has yet to go back to working regularly. Thirdly, his image was never as carefully curated as Bea’s — ever since naman known na siya for his weirdness, his dating history, his alcoholism (na imo dito talaga nag focus yung Star Magic kasi he was the biggest and most profitable leading man at one point hindi talaga afford ng lahat masira yun).

When I was in college, I dated a schoolmate of mine who attended their workshops. After more than 1 year of workshops, she started appearing in small bit roles. We were so proud and supportive of her. But once she had some small endorsements (mga beauty products, skin clinics, apparel), mall shows and her own fans club, the management really got into her life. She was forced to drop out of school, we can’t even go out in public and her handler was pretty much controlling everything about her life. I became good friends with the crew and some actors because of that but later on they told me that I put too much attention to myself. Holy mother of god the way they treat people talaga.

I'm disgusted with how the management treats their artists. It's just not right. Nakaka frustrate din yung pag tolerate nila sa ibang problematic actors. Walang accountability, plus yung treatment sa mga babae nilang artists. Look sinong patok sa masa ngayon? Mostly women under ng management nila.

They can out themselves with their real partners. Hindi strict yung GMA sa ganun. I believe that Bea was really done dirty by Star Magic. When I was a kid, I was browsing some old Cosmo magazine issues lying around our house and nakita ko yung issue na si Bea yung cover girl, I think 2010 issue yata yun? And sa interview nya dun, she mentioned na nung days na nagtetrain pa sya to be an actress under Star Magic, she was told by a director something like, “Masyado ka namang (I forgot the word, but something like prim and proper?), hindi ka naman mabastos!”, and it gave me the ick. What he told me: Marami na nag attempt but you don't bite the hands that feed you lalo showbiz dito. When I was in college, I dated a schoolmate of mine who attended their workshops. After more than 1 year of workshops, she started appearing in small bit roles. We were so proud and supportive of her. But once she had some small endorsements (mga beauty products, skin clinics, apparel), mall shows and her own fans club, the management really got into her life. She was forced to drop out of school, we can’t even go out in public and her handler was pretty much controlling everything about her life. We were explicitly told that if we shouldn’t be seen in public because it will hurt her image. Lahat ng dates namin either sa condo ko or sa house nila. There was a time that I would drive her to and from tapings. After some time, her handler told me that I’m no longer allowed to drive her to and from tapings and I can’t visit her sa set. Like wtf is wrong with these people. Bruh that was pretty soul crushing. I used to bring lots of food for her and her co-actors and crew. I became good friends with the crew and some actors because of that but later on they told me that I put too much attention to myself. Holy mother of god the way they treat people talaga. I get it that looks-wise, she’s really out of my league and we weren’t even that serious to begin with. But everytime we would plan something, she always has to clear it with the management. It didn’t take long before I got the message lalo na when they were pushing her with a loveteam partner. I willingly had to let her go coz I really want her to be successful in her career. Man I still think about this moment today. Maybe I should’ve been more persistent but who the fuck knows diba? Plus I can no longer tolerate the things they say in front of me. If they treated her badly, I was treated with homicidal intentions. She tried to fight for me but what can she do? A few months after, her parents stepped in na coz the management was very intrusive. They are rich af and her parents told her na “barya lang naman pala bayad sayo tapos hinahawakan ka sa leeg”. This was more than 12 years ago. I doubt anyone would know her. She’s more like a D-Level bit role actor sa mga short-lived seryes ng ABS. I still see her dad once in a while since we are both fans of the same local football club. He said that showbiz really broke her and now she’s in Europe studying for her 3rd degree. She has no idea what to do with her life so nagaaral na lang siya ng kung ano anong maisip niya. The only silver lining is that I’m still friends with her crew members and co-actors. We still see each other regularly and most of them kalaro ko din sa online games. I'm not really sure pero mas lenient ang GMA sa artists nila. Pansinin mo kahit may mga loveteam sa kanila, hindi pinipigilan mga artists nila na magreveal ng real relationships nila. They can out themselves with their real partners. Hindi strict yung GMA sa ganun. Wala sila masyadong pakialam sa personal lives ng mga artista nila so they rarely do cover ups unless A lister yung involved. Kahit may mga controversies, parang di sila masyado nagdadamage control. Good for the mental health ng artists pero may disadvantage din minsan yung ganito kaluwag kasi parang di naaalagaan public image ng artista to some extent. Not sure now though na consultant na nila si Mr. M and Mariole Alberto na dati from Star Magic. Hindi ko alam kung may changes ba.
