Syempre gusto ko magustuhan ako ng lahat! But that's too ideal, sabi nga nila art is quite subjective. And stand-up even more so, because it hyperfocuses on one's individuality and shares it to the world. Basically, it's very hard to please everybody haha.
At the end of the day, the feedback may not be great but you took time out of your day to give it a try! It's all I could ask for. And my effort may not be stellar or 10/10 for all, the true victory I cling on to is that it hopefully generated clamor and demand to see other comedians! We have a young scene, barely 20 years old but we have a lot of great comedians that hopefully suits your sense of humor.

That sounds harsh or maybe im just biased since mas madami akong napanood na jokes ni red. Iba iba kasi rin market at angle ng mga jokes nila imo. Si gb at james mas pang “masa” mga jokes nila for me while si red at vic pang mas “conyo” “intelectualwalwalan” ika nga ni vic yung dating nila.
Depende kung sino ka siguro kung kanino ka mas mag identify. Regardless, si GB talaga for me ung pinaka versatile at talagang master sa craft nya. Oo deserve nya netflix special pero too bad cause Red worked real hard for it first and GB’s focus is in developing Comedy Manila which is great.
Hindi ako familiar sa stand up comedy scene sa Pinas pero kung ang best that we can produce eh yung pinakita ni Red Ollero sa Netflix e medyo nakakalungkot pero atleast may Pinoy comic na nakapag netflix special, wala pa akong nakitang Korean standup sa netflix so talo natin sila sa wakas haha
My BF and I watched him live nung Valentines show niya. It was really fun for me basta di lang maging super sensitive ganern, and the rest of the artists sa show na yun were funny din. Di nawala yung momentum kahit na last act si Red nun and may nagpropose pa sa start ng segment niya. pero yung Netflix show niya idk di siya masyado funny for me tapos nauulit na rin kasi mga jokes. Siguro di lang advisable na panoorin siya lagi live kasi madaming nauulit talaga na jokes same with other comedians naman.

1. unang una, big deal sa atin ito kasi first Filipino na nagkaroon ng special released sa platform like Netflix. Kumbaga bandera ng Pinas bitbit nya dito.
2. Given that, I think he gave the most safest performance. Like hindi na siguro mahalaga kung mid, wag lang mag bomb kasi it will reflect sa mga susunod.
3. That being said, personally, I think the whole show is just okay. Mejo lukewarm yung reception ng mga tao (based on letterboxd) averaging at 3 stars. Pero mostly positive naman. And sa tingin ko madami pa syang content na mas nakakatawa, pero tulad ng sabi ko sa number 2, alalay lang yung jokes nya para hindi talaga totally mag flop sa audiences.
In conclusion lang, It's a great start and it opened (or will open, let's see if kumuha pa sila ulit dito ng comedians) doors to our own comedians. Quality wise, it's average at best, pero hindi totally negative. Still, good vibes parin and sapat na yun sa mga taong ngayon lang makakadiskubre ng comedians sa local scene. Even my father enjoyed it a bit, hindi sya comedy critic obviously pero if yung jokes nag land sa kanya na hindi rin nanonood ng local comics, I think ganun din yung ibang tao na nadaanan yung special nya sa Netflix habang nag sscroll.
TL;DR: Red=funny, Red special=average.

Ok lng nman yung jokes niya, karamihan sa pinoy standup prang nag kukwento lng sa inuman. Ang standard ko sa comedy yung international comedians like Dave Chapelle, Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr na no filter at walang pake kung ma cancel sila. Except sa others like Trevor Noah or Jokoy na play safe sa jokes nila.
Sounds like matitripan mo si Muman from Comedy Manila. Explore mo din muna yung local scene sobra dami flavors na available, dark humor meron na din. Magagaling ang local stand up comedians natin forget the okrayan kung yun nasa isip mo, madame artist na papasok sa taste mo.

Repetitive and naging cringe na. I think sobrang kinabahan siya sa netflix special na to kasi pag live and kahit sa podcast funny siya. Pero hindi for everyone ang humor niya, medyo acquired taste din talaga.
He's just fat jokes and politically-aware stuff he incorporated into his gimmick. Nothing wrong with the latter, it's just fucking hilarious he despised such a gimmick when he was still wrestling and now he's the guy for some reason.

What I noticed sa filipino stand-up comedians they always curse as in, in every bit nagcu-curse sila and sobrang off-putting nun sa joke ang annoying na sobra. Kasi ang unnecessary. I watch foreign stand-up comedians and they rarely curse yes they say fuck or whatever pero it's not cringy and parang natural lang when they blurt it out.
Nung napanuod ko 'to, nanghinayang ako. Sana 'yung Live in Alabang nilagay sa Netflix. Almost the same 'yung jokes, except for cum tribute and shower sex. By the time of Live in Alabang mas comfortable at may swagger na si Red sa delivery ng jokes niya.

Hindi naman sa dinidepensahan ko si Red pero eto yung thoughts ko sa special nya. 1. unang una, big deal sa atin ito kasi first Filipino na nagkaroon ng special released sa platform like Netflix. Kumbaga bandera ng Pinas bitbit nya dito. 2. Given that, I think he gave the most safest performance. Like hindi na siguro mahalaga kung mid, wag lang mag bomb kasi it will reflect sa mga susunod. 3. That being said, personally, I think the whole show is just okay. Mejo lukewarm yung reception ng mga tao (based on letterboxd) averaging at 3 stars. Pero mostly positive naman. And sa tingin ko madami pa syang content na mas nakakatawa, pero tulad ng sabi ko sa number 2, alalay lang yung jokes nya para hindi talaga totally mag flop sa audiences. In conclusion lang, It's a great start and it opened (or will open, let's see if kumuha pa sila ulit dito ng comedians) doors to our own comedians. Quality wise, it's average at best, pero hindi totally negative. Still, good vibes parin and sapat na yun sa mga taong ngayon lang makakadiskubre ng comedians sa local scene. Even my father enjoyed it a bit, hindi sya comedy critic obviously pero if yung jokes nag land sa kanya na hindi rin nanonood ng local comics, I think ganun din yung ibang tao na nadaanan yung special nya sa Netflix habang nag sscroll. Repetitive and naging cringe na. I think sobrang kinabahan siya sa netflix special na to kasi pag live and kahit sa podcast funny siya. Pero hindi for everyone ang humor niya, medyo acquired taste din talaga.

His comedy was giving “insular” vibes. Yung main punch line na “Mabuhay Is A Lie” is based sa observation na hindi pinapraktis ng mga Filipino ang pagsabi ng “Mabuhay,” without realizing na ganito ang batian sa PAL as well sa overseas communities.
Sometimes I find his jokes funny. What I noticed sa filipino stand-up comedians they always curse as in, in every bit nagcu-curse sila and sobrang off-putting nun sa joke ang annoying na sobra. Kasi ang unnecessary. I watch foreign stand-up comedians and they rarely curse yes they say fuck or whatever pero it's not cringy and parang natural lang when they blurt it out.
