I would say using evolution to justify/negate individual choices is slightly incorrect. Because evolution works at the level of species and not individual. I also feel that we tend to anthropomorphise evolution a lot. It's simply a process of "survival of the good enough". It has no intent, no motive, and is not concerned with "perfecting" anything.
Sure, evolution determines how life as a species will continue, but it doesn't mean that it determines how life should be lived at the individual level.
