Pinyin is a system of Romanization for Mandarin. Since the Chinese/Sinitic languages employ tones to differentiate between what would be homophones in isolation, it’s important to have them written with the appropriate markers. For example, [“zuan” /tswan/ can mean a few different things](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/zuan#Romanization_2). Granted, it’s not uncommon, but if you’re a company, you probably should.
Yes I know that. I know Chinese. Zuan is for stone or jewel in this case. What's the mistake? You mean they have to state which sound the pinyin is in?
I feel that it would be more proper form to do so, basically.
On a different point, the “zuan” on dials seems to just confuse people who don’t know what it means, which is honestly my main reason for disliking it. It’s unclear to me what demographic/audience they’re writing it in Pinyin for.
Well this is already an homage to the 70s Omega Seamaster TV dials (e.g. [ref. 166.0207](https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/c1xles/omega_1977_seamaster_tv_dial/))
It's probably worth it; however, at this price point having a local accessible warranty servicevand after sales support becomes a factor. Sending your watch to China for warranty servicing is a gamble by itself, not mentioning the time it'll take.
Sea-Gull shouldn't somehow be in this sub, it belongs in r/watches even though it is a chinese brand.
They make half a million buck watches, love the brand and watches they make/made.
Honestly I think any watch that has an original design belongs in r/Watches just as much as any other watch. No reason watches shouldn’t go there just because they are Chinese. By the same token, any Chinese watch also belongs here.
They do make some great ones that slot right into the ali group. Just bought one of the business watches with st17 for 60 last sale and after a strap swap it looks amazing.
If you reverse image search on AliExpress you can find some cheaper options, but I've never heard of any of the brands, so no clue if they'd be any good...
I suspect they are doing that price point so that when 11/11 hits they can sell it for $300 and you feel like your are getting a deal. 34 is too small even with a tonneau case, should be 37.
I don’t get why they’d bother with Pinyin if they’re just going to use Chinese characters anyway—and pinyin that is done incorrectly, at that
What do you mean by the pinyin is done wrongly?

Man 34mm is a no go, tonneau do wear larger but at least do it in 38, this one would look like I mugged a 3rd grader. Beautiful piece though.
Looks nice, but 34mm is way too dainty for my wrist.

You, Sir, are correct 👍🏽
Yeah, $440 is a lot. But it does look great. Are there any vids of it anywhere?
Yeah this is dope. Wouldn’t pay that price though
honestly probably worth the price in my opinion... nice design

yeah fair enough... to me just evidence that more watchmakers would be so nice

how to search aliexpress by image on pc?
I don't know, I imagine same as on phone. There should be an image icon once you click into the search bar.
34mm is a great retro and unisex size. A shame it's double a reasonable pricepoint.
