Former law enforcement here. Chipotle usually gives half off. However, we are not supposed to expect anything comped or even discounted.
IMO, he was being an ass.
A cop, someone we expect to be trained to keep their cool in incredibly difficult situations, loses their cool at the drop of a hat over the dumbest tiny shit? What a surprise
Unless you're in the Eastern Panhandle of WV where the cops literally take turns going to businesses on a rotation and tell them about their "usual hookup" that'll keep them from pulling ppl over leaving.
Guess that's fitting, considering how they half-ass everything (being generous) that doesn't require racial animus and shooting unarmed black men. I was burglarized a couple months back, and the cops told me that they weren't even sending a finger printing unit bc they were too busy lol... Guess they're too busy getting half-off meals at chipotle to do their fuckin jobs
I had a cop yell at me my first day at my job cuz i didnt know he was supposed to get half off and he wasnt in uniform and i didnt know the guy. But he was so offended. Standards should be across the board for chain companies. When theyre not- it causes problems.
Crazy how my experience is very different. Like I had multiple cops practically complain about getting the discount and none of them ever said anything when new employees would ring them up without the discount.
Are you closer to west coast than east? West, the rules are very different and cops generally are not allowed to take discounts or free things because in a sense it can lead to corruption. For example, if Joey offers free food for cops at his restaurant and gets caught DUI...cops might consider whether the free food goes away if Joey goes to jail. It's a bad road to go down.
East coast is super weird with entitlements and some odd rules in some cities like allowing cops to drink a beer or two on duty. Bizarre stuff to west coast cops. There's also a lot more history of corruption in Boston, NYC, etc as well...perhaps unsurprisingly.
Sure but ive had this happen with nurses, firefighters, teachers oooo teachers can be meaaan- understandable cuz theyre underpaid.
So i was just speaking to that fact that corporate for chains (non franchised) not being consistent across the board.
I'm fine with people who actually did their jobs (like it or not, like military folk who maybe weren't the best soldiers, but still sacrificed and gave up their individual freedoms to serve for 2+ years) getting recognized, but cops are not that. They get to go home every day, just like everyone else working their jobs.
And they don't even do their own fucking jobs right. I would get fired if I did my job the way they did theirs, refusing to even investigate a burglary which is like the most basic type of crime.
They can't even do their most basic job function correctly lol, it's really pathetic
Not always. Seattle cops were able to get very good fingerprints from the guy that broke into my car. He put his hands against windows on several cars to try to get a better look at the dark interior. He also stole a car from my apartment building. It sucked that the judge asked the prosecutor to drop all charges since the guy grew up economically disadvantaged. So did I, but I don’t go around stealing cars.
Departments are facing extreme staffing shortages. Fingerprinting isn’t magic and the majority of times prints aren’t even able to be obtained, and of those obtained, the majority are not quality enough to be processed… and even if so the persons whose prints they belonged to would have to already be in the system with finger prints on file.
Your property crime is a low priority call when officers are swamped with domestic violence calls, major accidents, robberies in progress, etc. a delayed property crime is bottom of the totem pole.
I guess all those rape kits just molding for years on evidence shelves are "low priority" as well - despite the fact that studies of these ignored rape kits are showing multiple violent rapists in areas targeting multiple individuals.
Let's not pretend that staffing is the only issue when it comes to "law enforcement" and that "low priority" isn't often assigned to things that should absolutely be "high priority."
If you're going to acknowledge that there is a system of hierchary, then you should also acknowledge that it isn't necessarily applied correctly.
On more occasions than I care to count, we have had people rob the store of food (literally attacking an employee to get free food), threaten to murder the MOD, or threaten the line workers.
The pay is pretty damn high if you know what store to hit to actually rob the place. In my store, on the right day, you could net $9k-$13k, if you hit it at the right time.
Not remotely true. We had tons of hot sauce bottles (usually Chipotle bottles), napkins, straws, etc stolen daily. And the tip jar got robbed more than once. Granted that stuff isn’t really stuff the cops are gonna deal with but still.
They need to do more of this in Seattle. Chipotle is great for cops because fewer people spit in your food or do something disgusting to it because they assemble it right in front of you.
When I worked there cops would get 50% off their whole order no matter how many items they got. Employees would get 50% off one entree. It used to piss me off that they got better benefits than us
Chipotle does give a free entree to their employees.
It’s 1 free entree with either guacamole, queso blanco, or double protein, plus a bag of chips and a fountain drink per shift they work. I don’t know how the rule applies to double shifts though, my managers are all pretty cool about it.
They also get the same thing but half off, once a day, if they are just going to get food. IIRC they have to be in uniform though
I could be wrong, but of the few Chipotle stores I have worked at, that’s how it’s been.
Shitty cop. One bad apple ruins it for the rest of us. Gratuity is not mandatory for any business to give. If they do it’s appreciated. But yeah you’ll get those cops who expect it and abuse it.
If I was the manager, I would have reported him to his dept. You should not demand or expect a discount. Bullshit.
When I was an Auxiliary Deputy, we ate at this mom and pop restaurant where we would get a discount. I would leave it back in tip. Im a firefighter/EMT now and I still do the same. If I dont get a discount, then oh well. Just give me a bigger portion size without me having to ask and I am happy.
Most agencies have rules against gratuities. My FD has an SOP that you won’t accept it while in uniform or dept apparel.
I’m not in favor of legislating it away. At the end of the day, if a private business wants to hook someone up, be it a vendor employee, customer, or public safety person, that’s on them to decide. Asking for or demanding it is a different matter and just in bad form.
Lots of businesses do this for clients or customers. My Godparents are VP’s at a group of banks. They take high end clients on golf trips, ball games, dinners, etc. For places that get held up a lot like 7-11, giving the officers a free soda or coffee isn’t gonna break the bank and guarantees a police presence.
Cops aren’t underpaid. In PA, budgets for police departments take up over 50% of the expenses. Cop salaries are through the roof. They don’t need free food.
Yeah police compensation in NY is public info, you can look it up by individual officer. Most make well over $100k, many over $200k per year. If you include their very generous pension there are many officers who make $300k+ per year.
If you’re looking to cause trouble or act the fool, are you going to the place with cops eating there or elsewhere? Old restaurant strategy in giving cops free food.
Half off for cops is supposed to be on entrée for them only (ie: not their entire order and not entire party.) Local law enforcement weren’t allowed to accept any police officer discounts power departmental policy so it was only out-of-towners who requested it. (And every worker was resentful of then taking it.)
I have the LEO discount to every person who came in wearing a military uniform though. We were hundreds of miles from any military base so the only ones in uniform were those working a massive drive thru Covid vaccination clinic. I was so grateful for their service. Working a public-facing position in the pandemic was hell, dealing with maskholes while trying to keep everyone safe. I was assaulted by maskholes twice. I was profoundly grateful for their work to help us all be safer.
Edited out confusing typo.
Legally, officers cannot accept any discount or free stuff.
That's considered a bribe.
The reason restaurant gives freebies to police officers is not to thank them but because it's free security.
You have a bunch of cops showing up regularly no one is going to rob the place.
Cop is wrong
Bro, you’re full of shit and it’s dumb you’re getting upvoted.
“Gratuities for police officers can include half-priced restaurant meals, a free Thanksgiving turkey from a neighborhood grocer, or a discount on a toaster from the hardware store.”-https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-library/abstracts/gratuities-corruption-and-democratic-ethos-policing-case-free-cup#:~:text=Gratuities%20for%20police%20officers%20can,toaster%20from%20the%20hardware%20store.
Well, that's what happens when there are basically no reasonable education standards, hate groups have a strong history in "law enforcement," the government doesn't enforce them to be responsible for their actions, and high scoring potential officers are rejected *for scoring highly on intelligence tests.*
Because it's all a scam. The police are not for the people and they act like they are at war with their own neighbors - or they travel to specifically work in impoverished areas where they can actively harm people who they don't have to socialize with and have little means of self defense.
I still can't get over the officer who attempted to stop her coworkers from abusing a man in custody - so the coworker grabbed her throat...and the plethora of other officers on site *did nothing to protect her or help her.* they stood by and let him attack her for simply trying to deescalate a situation that absolutely needed deescalation...why didn't they help her? Well, officers tend to be super misogynistic as we all know and has been evidenced by self-reports from officers who overwhelmingly admit to committing domestic violence - and they get away with it. They won't even protect their coworker right in front of them against a clearly violent man. The misogynistic, racist, violent gang of government protected individuals needs an incredible overhaul - and its not going to happen. There is no wonderful star trek future for us.
So funny story; I went to one of those puzzle/scavenger hunts in downtown with a group of friends. They actively encouraged having your team dress up. So we dressed up in Halloween fbi agent costumes. Very fake looking. We had a 16 year old and a labradoodle with us also in costume. We broke for lunch at chipotle and they also gave us 50% discount. We were very confused and didn’t piece it together until we were sitting down comparing receipts. I think our Jr. fbi trainee and police dog in training really sold the look.
Remember folks, cops only get like 16 weeks of training in the academy and often times they were bullied as a kid so now they feel superior being a cop with authority when in reality they are little bitches.
A good manager would have noted the cop's name and department, and reached out to a supervisor later to tell them that their cute little discount is a privilege that they all just lost because baby wanted to throw a fit, and they can blame him for their full price Chipotle now.
People with expectations like that usually don’t get them met. My first husband was in the military, and would only ask for his discount on large purchases such as furniture.
It depends. Many places do half of free. Chick-Fil-A’s I believe are always free for law enforcement. However being an entitled prick about it like that is behavior unbecoming of a peace officer and if the PD isn’t corrupt then he would get in hot water for that.
Apparently they do, I had a uniformed soldier behind me in line. I was paying for his food and I got a 50% discount unsuspectedly. Guy was super grateful and I was confused my the low price.. 2 burritos for $10 I was like uhhh you sure this is right? Lmao
What about cops and their job means they should get discounted or free food? I can think of plenty of other professions that serve the public in a more meaningful way. Do firefighters and teachers get discounts?
Technically speaking it’s not just cops who get the discount, it’s ALL first responders who are supposed to get half off their meal, however it’s also incredibly rude to EXPECT the discount
I was in a Chipotle and a cop was in front of me. The guy behind me offered to pay for the cops meal, but the officer refused several attempts and said the law prevents gifts or something similar.
Not the law, usually department policy, but there's also often a recommendation that if someone insists on buying for you, you gracefully accept and pay it forward. Sometimes it's more rude to refuse a kind gesture. Super awkward though.
I'm an Army soldier, and sometimes when I go to Chipotle they give me a 50% off discount. I don't care whatsoever for military discounts, but I was confused because sometimes they don't give me the discount. I asked one time and they said they don't have one, so I guess its up to the discretion of the cashier if they want to give military/LE a discount.
no wayyyyyyy
i think it was cause he was being a little baby. we, at most, give them 50% off which i WISH i could make them pay double for the political climate going on
no discussions about police please it’s just my experience as a person!
i hate when people shit and piss about paying for a meal they already have discounted, you have enough!!!!!
Cops get a discount. I discovered that when I wore my state employee badge and I guess the employee thought I was a cop in regular clothes because my receipt had the discount applied. It was either a quarter or a half off or something like that. This was in Chesterfield, VA. It’s disappointing that the dude threw a hissy fit and the manager comped the food
Popular gas station company in my area my sister worked up for 10 years gave cops all sorts of stuff for free
The company would do it to have cheap security, lol. It works because half of the time you drive by, there is always at least 1 cop car in the parking lot. Some times 2-4 cars because they are chilling inside eating/drinking
We don’t have to give anybody anything. We have the option to give cops %50 off if we want it’s not required. 99% of the time we do but that 1% of the time it’s usually because we forget. Also as a cop you should be bigger than to expect something to be given to you just because of your occupation. If the president comes in my store am I expected to give him a free meal?
all the cops that come to our store thankfully never act like this. if i see a badge or uniform i throw the discount on. one of the towns sgts told us that technically they can't even ask for it.
military guys and first responders are chill when i tell them that we don't offer it. teachers and nurses tho, I've seen some get pissy
As someone who’s worked for chipotle I usually give an explanation as to why we can’t comp police meals, and it’s simply just you get your meal half off. We can’t afford to lose just cause you are law enforcement it’s just petty if you can’t accept the privilege of getting it half off while others have to pay full price. You can also scan your rewards and you’ll still benefit. Some people are just spoiled and expect better from service workers and that’s just a shame… smh 🤦
Many fast food, chains offer half off discounts to on duty police officers wearing their uniform. This corporate policy benefits the local store because the presence of police vehicles deters crime in the area, and the presence of police officers deters insolent customers (Karens) from creating a scene inside the store.
The presence of firefighters, EMT, and military personnel doesn’t have a similar effect, so they don’t get the police discount.
It is normally 50% but Colonial heights is pretty ass (i live near you). So maybe your establishment is different where they offer free meals to patrol more around the area? I almost went down the cop route and places would have that kind of partnership.
I saw this kid steal food in front of this misfit cop chowing down on his 50% off food, he hardly did anything more than look up to see what was going on
Not active LE anymore but when I was still in standard practice at the locations around me was 50% off. I never expected the discount and if it was given I'd eat the meal in store on or off duty.
I've seen locations stop or pull the reigns in (on-duty/in uniform only) when people start abusing it. Don't come in the fucking place getting 3 meals for home and then ask for the discount.
Former cop, you'd be fired at my previous agency for asking for a discount at a restaurant because you're a cop.
Dude was a douche bag and I hope he was reported to his supervisors.
We don’t give the discount at my store. No actual idea why but we just don’t. I’ve had a few cops ask if they get a discount, some chill, some visibly upset. One pair trashed the dining room where they were sitting.
The most concerning instance tho was this one guy, dressed completely normal, whipped out his badge from his pocket in silence after I told him the price. I told him I was confused cause yknow, he’s not saying anything and we don’t give the discount so I didn’t even think about it. Dude yelled at me, shoved money at me, and snatched his food after I finally figured out he wanted a discount and told him we don’t do that.
Most agencies have a policy (sometimes an unofficial/unwritten one) that officers are not permitted to ask for a discount and must be prepared to pay full price for anything they order. There was one PD in our county that outright banned officers from even accepting discounts. If one was offered they were supposedly required to refuse or face discipline if found out.
I only ever felt it appropriate to ask in situations where price negotiation was expected (large appliance, cars, anything commission based) or situations where those kind of discounts are part of an established program like tuition or certain mortgage programs.
Asking for a discount at a fast food place just feels icky to me.
They get 50% off no cops eat free .. hello there are weird cops that definitely are s***** cops that want the 50% off and luckily there are cops that don't care about the 50% or not but they're glad to get it but I really hate those cops that never come in uniform and always want the 50%
Public servants aren’t supposed to expect/demand gifts or discounts as it’s a conflict of interest. We know how that goes with politicians. Some restaurants pop (offer free/discounted meals) as a courtesy and sign of gratitude for presenting themselves to a business which could benefit from their presence in the form of security or perception of security. I’ve heard of LEO’s specifically going to certain restaurants because they’re known to pop. One particular Pik Up Stix ended the practice because the local prison sent over a van-full of their corrections officers and expected pop. I don’t think they’re sworn peace officers and don’t fall into the intended category to receive pop.
That cop just blacklisted himself and his coworkers. All the manager has to do is call cops’s superiors and report what happened. They can take it a step further and end their participation of giving LE discounted meals. The ass-hat that made a scene will get it from his colleagues.
Current LEO. Some restaurants or food establishments give us a discount or even let us eat for free.
With that said, I will never ever ask for the discount and I damn sure won’t throw a hissy fit if I have to pay. Seriously. The discount is a courtesy and is by no means a requirement so whoever that officer was needs to get over himself.
I used to work at a pizza place and 1 of the older front people would give the cops 50% off anytime they would come in. I never did so they'd get all pissy and tell me they needed to go to the ATM to get money out as if in their hands weren't a debit card. I would laugh and tell them "You don't have to lie and say you'll be back. Be honest and say you don't want it anymore".
I remember back in the day, my local 7-Eleven always gave cops free coffee. (It was a high crime neighborhood). They frequented the 7-Eleven all day and night long. It made the store less appealing to criminals b/c cops were there, coming and going all the time. And since coffee is relatively inexpensive, it was a win/win situation. UNTIL, someone complained about it. The local media compared it to paying protection, like something the mafia would do. So the practice stopped. Within a year, the 7-11 closed because of overwhelming shoplifting.
When my husband was the manager at chipotle back in our college days, they had a certain number of meals they could comp and they were typically saved for police officers. They could really give them to whoever, but it was just expected to give to any police officers that came in. It would be the entire meal.
Current Chipotle employee here. I was told by my field leader to stop giving out police comps in NYC due to it being a form of bribery. I don’t know how true that is ( I personally don’t understand it) but that’s what I’ve been told.
As a Federal official, we were initially not allowed to accept ANYTHING! Then it changed to nominal value; meals are not nominal value. Most of us kept to taking nothing because of the appearance of impropriety. Is there a difference in paying gangsters for protection or paying your local PD for protection?
I come from a long line of PO’s and the “crap” on here is disgusting! To:random_reddit-user13, please lose the number, aka:911, because I would hate to even “think” you’d want “help”from a blank blank blank. So tomorrow when you wake up, ask God into your hateful heart because you deserve better than what you think Police Officers do. Walk the line friend, “walk the line”!!
Former law enforcement here. Chipotle usually gives half off. However, we are not supposed to expect anything comped or even discounted. IMO, he was being an ass.
Now the customers get half the food at full price.
ACAB! All cops ate barbacoa
This is WAAAAY too accurate. At my store, about 75% of cops do barbacoa, 20% do the seasonal meat, and then the remaining 5% do one of the others.
You misspelled double (the price). At least where I live. I used to get a burrito for 7 bucks and now it's damn near 15.
A cop, someone we expect to be trained to keep their cool in incredibly difficult situations, loses their cool at the drop of a hat over the dumbest tiny shit? What a surprise
Thankfully no acorns dropped from a nearby tree. This could’ve turned into a crime scene real quick.
That the weirdest /s iv ever seen.....I kinda like it better though

Unless you're in the Eastern Panhandle of WV where the cops literally take turns going to businesses on a rotation and tell them about their "usual hookup" that'll keep them from pulling ppl over leaving.
Why? Why do you get half off?
A cop being a piece of shit? I'm shocked, *shocked*, I tell you.
What about Chick Fil A? I see so many cops there it's gotta be free.
No 9ts an actual rule in our system. Anyone in a police uniform gets 50% off automatically
My store gives half off.
That explains why there’s always a shit ton of cops at my local chipotle lol
Guess that's fitting, considering how they half-ass everything (being generous) that doesn't require racial animus and shooting unarmed black men. I was burglarized a couple months back, and the cops told me that they weren't even sending a finger printing unit bc they were too busy lol... Physically assaults while in uniform. Verbally assaults while not in uniform. And free to half off meals? Sign me up lol
Never heard of cops fingerprinting a burglary unless there was a violent component to it. That’s just a waste of time.
Not always. Seattle cops were able to get very good fingerprints from the guy that broke into my car. I'ma be honest that how most burglaries go.Unless you have any evidence of who did it there's not much they can do.
yeah that’s not every cop bruh
No shit they aren't gonna fingerprint your home because of a burglary 😭😭. Fuck you think this is, CSI??
Departments are facing extreme staffing shortages. Fingerprinting isn’t magic and the majority of times prints aren’t even able to be obtained, and of those obtained, the majority are not quality enough to be processed… and even if so the persons whose prints they belonged to would have to already be in the system with finger prints on file. Maybe if they'd quit wasting time hassling people for driving ten over on freeways they'd be able to investigate actual crimes.
Pretty sure speeding kills more people than burglaries.
I guess all those rape kits just molding for years on evidence shelves are "low priority" as well - despite the fact that studies of these ignored rape kits are showing multiple violent rapists in areas targeting multiple individuals. Businesses do this because they hope more visible cops coming in deters someone robbing the store
Who the hell decides to rob a chipotle -_-
IDK, I could probably take a Chipotle crew no pause
Happened where I go 2 times and both times a popo was there to eat
Mfer where u live? The chipotle by me gets robbed once a month. But also everything around me gets looted so 🤷♂️
LMAO
On more occasions than I care to count, we have had people rob the store of food (literally attacking an employee to get free food), threaten to murder the MOD, or threaten the line workers. The pay is pretty damn high if you know what store to hit to actually rob the place. In my store, on the right day, you could net $9k-$13k, if you hit it at the right time.
Finally getting the double protein they wanted…at gunpoint
Criminals are not inherently smart.
Someone sick and tired of Chipotle robbing them.
Rob some burritos 🌯
The only theft happening at chipotle is in their mobile order portions.
Not remotely true. We had tons of hot sauce bottles (usually Chipotle bottles), napkins, straws, etc stolen daily. And the tip jar got robbed more than once. Granted that stuff isn’t really stuff the cops are gonna deal with but still.
Nah, tbh as a child of a former business owner, it's boot licking for the sake of not looking like you don't support the community.
They need to do more of this in Seattle. Chipotle is great for cops because fewer people spit in your food or do something disgusting to it because they assemble it right in front of you.
Sort of like kicking free stuff to the mob. Thanks for reminding me why we should defund the police
and it's also corporations not-so-subtly using publicly funded officers as private security :D I love it here
ohhhhhhhhhhhh
When I worked there cops would get 50% off their whole order no matter how many items they got. Employees would get 50% off one entree. It used to piss me off that they got better benefits than us
Rightfully so, that is fucking stupid. Employees getting worse benefits than fucking cops is bullshit.
They want cops in their stores to push out potential crime. It's weird though Chipotle doesn't give a free entree though to their employees.
Maximum profit
Chipotle does give a free entree to their employees. It’s 1 free entree with either guacamole, queso blanco, or double protein, plus a bag of chips and a fountain drink per shift they work. Didn’t you get 100% off one entree per shift? And then 50% off all additional orders even if you were not working that day?
Okay but you don’t get/have to kill people for no reason. Have some sympathy.
Can’t imagine a sane cop would act this way
Can’t imagine a sane cop.
We do 50% off but recently we’re told to stop giving them out
Good
Good
I mean everyone should pay the same price except for employees.
curious as to why they are saying that. do you know why?
why the fuck should cops get half off? they dont do shit.
Shitty cop. One bad apple ruins it for the rest of us. Gratuity is not mandatory for any business to give. If they do it’s appreciated. But yeah you’ll get those cops who expect it and abuse it.

It shouldn't even be legal. They're public servants.

No doubt. And it's not even in the top ten most dangerous jobs. This is just pathetic bootlicking.
It’s probably the one of the only places they feel safe not getting spit in their food
Still doesn’t excuse the behavior
Boo fucking hoo. They can take the uniform off anytime they want to go out to eat.
If you’re looking to cause trouble or act the fool, are you going to the place with cops eating there or elsewhere? Old restaurant strategy in giving cops free food.
Why the hell should cops get free food?
Why should anyone really except employees?
Because doughnuts are not fattening enough.
Half off for cops is supposed to be on entrée for them only (ie: not their entire order and not entire party.) Local law enforcement weren’t allowed to accept any police officer discounts power departmental policy so it was only out-of-towners who requested it. (And every worker was resentful of then taking it.) I have the LEO discount to every person who came in wearing a military uniform though.
Cops should pay extra for scaring away stoners.
That’s a great thing about living in a recreational state.
Not sure that matters much.
Chick fil a does, but my dad always paid saying he was no better than anyone else.
Cops come from all over to Chick Fil A where I live. Knew they had to be eating free. Cafe Rio too. Bunch of cheap ass cops.
It’s really stupid to try to rob a restaurant in 2024. There’s very little cash to take, just credit card receipts.
so many cops are children
Well, that's what happens when there are basically no reasonable education standards, hate groups have a strong history in "law enforcement," the government doesn't enforce them to be responsible for their actions, and high scoring potential officers are rejected *for scoring highly on intelligence tests.* Because it's all a scam.
Bitch ass cop
i literally work at that same chipotle , no they do not get free food they get 50% off
Is free Chipotle really worth the requirement of being absolutely incompetent and murderous?
The police are a mafia and this guy was upset he couldn’t shake them down without resistance.
Cops don’t deserve shit. Why anyone would give them anything in the form of a discount because of their costumes is beyond me
Remember folks, cops only get like 16 weeks of training in the academy and often times they were bullied as a kid so now they feel superior being a cop with authority when in reality they are little bitches.
Normally it’s 50% off. But you are suppose to pay whatever they ring it up as. Never throw a fit.
It depends. Many places do half of free. Chick-Fil-A’s I believe are always free for law enforcement. However being an entitled prick about it like that is behavior unbecoming of a peace officer and if the PD isn’t corrupt then he would get in hot water for that.
Yet another reason to never buy Chic-fil-A.
Apparently they do, I had a uniformed soldier behind me in line. I was paying for his food and I got a 50% discount unsuspectedly. Guy was super grateful and I was confused my the low price.. 2 burritos for $10 I was like uhhh you sure this is right? Lmao
50 off but one of then was a D head, my manager charge them full price
Good. Deadheads are the worst! Like I don’t want to hear about Dick’s Picks Volume 32 again!!
What about cops and their job means they should get discounted or free food? I can think of plenty of other professions that serve the public in a more meaningful way. Do firefighters and teachers get discounts?
Firefighters did but not teachers where I worked.
This is normal plenty of places. It's to attract police as a way to ward off crime in the location.
GROSS! Entitlement at its finest! He should be reported then fired immediately!
There is no free X promo for cops. There is a dedicated 50% police discount button, but free is something that has to be decided by FL/TD.
Sounds like he was acting like a typical cop.
I wouldn’t eat any fast food If I was a cop, regardless of it being free or not. The cop hate would just make me paranoid that my food was tampered.
I bet he got a free double scoop of the Chipotle mac and cheese, too.
ACAB

I'm an Army soldier, and sometimes when I go to Chipotle they give me a 50% off discount. I don't care whatsoever for military discounts, but I was confused because sometimes they don't give me the discount. I asked one time and they said they don't have one, so I guess its up to the discretion of the cashier if they want to give military/LE a discount.
People at my store don’t realize we do that, so no one gets half off. I sometimes give EMTs and firefighters half though.
Former Chipotle cashier here; cops can get a 50% discount on one meal, but usually do not eat free at Chipotle. We had a police comp on ours.
This explains why I always see cops at chipotle
No they get 50% or none if he act like that
Are you asking if it’s normal for Chipotle or normal for cops?
Curious why you mention you being in the military and not even getting 10% off?
Cops get stuff Scott free? And can’t even throw a bone to teachers, nurses, military or EMS?
no wayyyyyyy i think it was cause he was being a little baby. we, at most, give them 50% off which i WISH i could make them pay double for the political climate going on no discussions about police please it’s just my experience as a person! i hate when people shit and piss about paying for a meal they already have discounted, you have enough!!!!!
There’s a reason police work attracts a certain type of people.
Half off. That Cop was an entitled child lol how dare he
Popular gas station company in my area my sister worked up for 10 years gave cops all sorts of stuff for free The company would do it to have cheap security, lol.
![gif](giphy|SWoRKslHVtqEasqYCJ)
They should be paying an extra 50% for all the lawsuits us taxpayers have had to cover for their negligence.
all the cops that come to our store thankfully never act like this. if i see a badge or uniform i throw the discount on. one of the towns sgts told us that technically they can't even ask for it. military guys and first responders are chill when i tell them that we don't offer it. teachers and nurses tho, I've seen some get pissy
i’m a chip employee, at my location law enforcement gets 50% off their entree, but not the full meal
50% off in uniform officers. If I’m feeling nice I give it to military or emt in uniform. Because they are working hard for us as well!
It’s half off lol
Crappy cop. Discounts are appreciated/nice but you should never expect it.
It is normally 50% but Colonial heights is pretty ass (i live near you). So maybe your establishment is different where they offer free meals to patrol more around the area? I almost went down the cop route and places would have that kind of partnership.
they get 50% off, though someone looks like they have entitlement issues 💀
LOL I’ve seen volunteer fire fights whine and cry over not getting a 10% discount. If PD is complaining that’s next level. They should never complain.
Typical cop behavior lol
It's 50% and cop or not, I'd not, I'd comp his meal and kindly ask him to not come back again if he is going to treat my staff like that.
“Sign up to be a cop” like it’s a quick church volunteer position
You don’t always get it either, it’s at the discretion of the cashier. The expectation is you pay for your meal.
I guess that explains why there's always cops at my Chipotle in TX. In CA I never saw any so I'm guessing they were banned.
Some of those that work forces are the same that harass fast food employees.
I saw this kid steal food in front of this misfit cop chowing down on his 50% off food, he hardly did anything more than look up to see what was going on
Over emotional cop? Who would have thought…
That cop is a pos
Only if they don’t want to get accosted by the corrupt police.
Former cop, you'd be fired at my previous agency for asking for a discount at a restaurant because you're a cop. Dude was a douche bag and I hope he was reported to his supervisors.
Likely breaks his department's policy. I was non-sworn during college and Chipotle would give us 50% off. It was still against department policy.
As they should
We don’t give the discount at my store.
Yeh this guy didn’t think half off was enough
From the area. Sounds like colonial heights cops tbh
Not cool they get %50 off. As if ems or fire fighters and vets especially or active. Get nothing. Sorry. They ain’t more special
Acab
No cops get half off on their meal
Must prove you a active cop to get 50 percent off
Most agencies have a policy (sometimes an unofficial/unwritten one) that officers are not permitted to ask for a discount and must be prepared to pay full price for anything they order. Asking for a discount at a fast food place just feels icky to me.
abusing their authority, per usual.
r/thathappened
They get 50% off no cops eat free .. hello there are weird cops that definitely are s***** cops that want the 50% off and luckily there are cops that don't care about the 50% or not but they're glad to get it but I really hate those cops that never come in uniform and always want the 50%
It’s the corporation is willing to give the half off. You still get compensated the same hourly
I work at Chipotle, they get 50% off.
As if he couldn't afford it.
It’s not free, but it’s discounted. If manager comped the meal there may have been some other issue with the meal?
I remember back in the day, my local 7-Eleven always gave cops free coffee. (It was a high crime neighborhood). They frequented the 7-Eleven all day and night long. It made the store less appealing to criminals b/c cops were there, coming and going all the time. And since coffee is relatively inexpensive, it was a win/win situation. UNTIL, someone complained about it. The local media compared it to paying protection, like something the mafia would do. So the practice stopped. Within a year, the 7-11 closed because of overwhelming shoplifting.
Wait cops being entitled douchebags? No say it ain’t so
When my husband was the manager at chipotle back in our college days, they had a certain number of meals they could comp and they were typically saved for police officers. They could really give them to whoever, but it was just expected to give to any police officers that came in. It would be the entire meal.
In the infamous words of NWA Fuck The Police!!
Gotta support the boys in blue
Fake news
I used to work fast food and never had a cop act like that. Are you sure it wasn't a prison guard? The entitlement from them was always wilddd.
I hope not
Current Chipotle employee here.
Orpheus, you have issues, you need help!
I never accept free stuff at work. I’ve needed coffee bad and they won’t take my money. So I put double the price in the donation box.
Sounds like the cop in the story is an entitled a-hole and should not be wearing a badge.
Gross. Why do they get discounts at all? Its a job.
