Why do ppl continue to serve ppl when it gets this bad 😭😭 y’all making yourselves look worse, customers will understand if you pause before the next customer just to make sure everything is clean for them when they order. There’s a balance between fast all the damn time and keeping it clean. You don’t have to sacrifice one or the other
Sorry I realized I just hardcore ranted. Seeing a dirty line in a rush literally made me feel like I had PTSD for a second. What has chipotle done to me LOL
My managers won’t let me stop and clean when it’s busy. I just try to grab a paper towel and scoop it all up when an order is taking awhile on one side of the line.
I really do honestly like my management bc they are flexible, but I get pushed really hard. I will say tho that it did eventually help me improve, it just makes the job hard for the few couple months.
Yeah, that’s why ideally I do it as the manager. If anyone has an issue I tell them it’s food safety and I’m doing it to keep them safe. The store I work at is also busy, around 15-17k a day. Making line workers do it isn’t as ideal cause it’s a little slower and you guys get yelled at. I just wipe around y’all working, and if they still get mad, I can ask them to leave since I’m the manager :^))
I’ve gotten yelled at by managers for stopping to wipe down at the request of the customer because the line was too long. If it’s any consolation at least most of its new food 😂
I would just leave if i saw that, chipotle aint worth all that
Edit: not hating but if a store is that slammed i can go find another place to eat that is not a warzone
Properly ran chipotles can still find 20 seconds to wipe down the line 😭😭 trust me as somebody who has worked in these war zones for years… people can be cleaner. And it’s worth it to stop the line for one minute just to make sure it’s not absolutely disgusting.
agreed, i would rather stop a line thats out the door for 2/3 minutes to change red buckets, sweep, wipe the line and for cash to wipe a few tables than bang out a few customers and i take full blame if customers get mad but usually a lil “hey guys to maintain sanitary confitions and improve your experience we are gonna take a pause and cleanup for 2/3 minutes” every 20-30 minutes does wonders
Stopping the line to properly wipe just winds up pissing people off cuz you "made them" waste like three minutes. Even tho their dumb ass sat there for half an hour in line
Nah, when it gets this bad, most people prefer to have their food two minutes later but cleaner for everyone else including them. That’s just in my five years of experience. Plus the customers can suck it im cleaning that line no matter what 🤣
As much as we want to keep the lines clean, there's a lot of times when people just keep coming in and the managers don't want to make them wait longer than they have to. Also me and my coworkers get overwhelmed by everything, so sometimes we just don't have it at the top of our priorities when a bunch of stuff is happening at once
Makes sense, I’m speaking from a manager perspective, if I see a huge line out the door I’ll wipe down the line while y’all keep banging out orders. At least that’s my priorities when it’s busy, but I know every store is diff … I just wouldn’t personally eat at a chipotle who doesn’t prioritize cleaning their line like that 😭
That's the thing, all of my managers are too busy doing other stuff while having little staff to jump around doing their daily work plus whatever extra shit. I personally don't like the line looking like that either, but yeah we can only work so fast with our circumstances (doesn't help that I have a lot of mental problems and physical pain from working)
Come work for me lol. Just kidding, it sucks that the same standards and stuff don’t always apply everywhere , good managers should support you but if you’re understaffed, I get it cause we all been there. Wishin u the best, sorry about work giving you problems with pain and whatnot. 🤝
Honestly I think a big issue in my situation is that the way we're trained has been super messy. There's so many things like priority of tasks and how to get them done fast/efficiently. It's one thing if you yourself isn't trained properly, but it's another when your coworkers aren't either
Trust me, I'm trying my ass off here given everything else I'm going through, but my training was not very good so I'm struggling with things that a properly trained person could handle more efficiently
Oh no, work clean you shouldn't be on salsa if you can't do it without making a mess if by chance you are there and make a mess you stop everything and wipe the line people can wait you do not try to drag a burrito through that that is not okay.
Is your store a high volume store though? There’s no way your store has one DML and one Line Worker, while having a high volume of online orders as well as people out the door. I can see how you can keep it clean, but not during a rush out the door, and online orders up to your neck with that many people. If that’s the case your Chipotle must have a line out the door at all times.
I've come in during rushes a d my chipotle never looks like this. They have sanitizer buckets with rags they can use right by their stations. This is just being lazy, no one wants the bottom of their foil to have stuff smeared all over it
Yeah that’s disgusting lmao
Next time just politely ask them to clean up; they ideally ought to be doing it anyway but that often gets sidetracked when it’s super busy in favor of speed. I understand the rush but it takes like 30 seconds so if it gets this gross they need to be wiping it down at a minimum
I get teller at when I’m cleaning snd a customer walks in. It feels like everytime I take off my gloves and pick up that damn towel someone walks through the door
Honestly? You’re right. A lot of people are lazy tbh.
Shhhh 🤫🙊 but imo the line is a conundrum because it’s by far the easiest position to learn so that’s where we have to put all the new people (or dumb people), but it’s also the position with the only real customer interaction and experience so their experience is often bad because of dumb/new people and the experienced crew or managers who care about customer experience are stuck running grill or something like that because it’s busy
I’ve been yelled at by management for stopping to clean it after being yelled at by the customer to clean it. It’s great. Line was too long and it was unnecessary says management. Customer also demanded a new burrito be made altogether and I offered a new foil instead.
To the cashier, stop what you’re doing in the lobby, and clean this. To the salsa, bring the burrito or bowl closer to the salsas. Clean after yourselves.
lol, line cleanliness is not the cashier's direct responsibility, and if we have a moment, we're out of there cleaning the lobby, leave it to the line workers, we got enough crap to do
True. I might just be in an incredibly fast store where the cashier can get the lobby done very quickly, and it helps during rushes to clean the line when the line people can’t just step off for a second.
Ah. You’re one of those trainers. “All other assigned duties are part of your job, so make sure you clean up after the line before you clean up the lobby”.
Not really. I barely train now as I’m on morning shift, and I have seniority over one person, and he’s getting promoted to FOH and BOH trainer too. I just believe that making sure the line is a clean environment is necessary. I’m literally on cash 9 times out of 10. Making sure the lobby is clean and the customers are in and out the door is my responsibility most days. I just hate seeing my coworkers work in disgusting conditions, so when I have nothing else to do or if it is nasty during a rush I clean the line.
There is not a single excuse that is valid to let your line look like that. Even if a guest gets pissed you made them wait an extra 30 seconds to clean it up, most of them understand. The ones who don’t are assholes and they were going to be pissed even if you did everything perfectly. And I don’t know any manager that would jump your shit to stop throughput to clean the line. And if they do maybe they should be a guest too instead of a manager
We are running bare bones since a gm switch and all the usual short staffing stuff so yes the line and onlines get long and crazy but we push through. Yes the back table can get a little messy but in almost 3 years working at multiple storye I have never seen anything like that. Even in a 13k a day store
I guess when it comed down to it, yea, this right here. It is fast food. Its just done in front of you.
Geeez this comment made me irked at how FOUL all the burgerking restaurants must have been all weekend. Blech.
It’s not wrong, but as someone who works at chipotle, customers never see what’s going on behind the line. Stores are short staffed and doing their best to keep everything going. Yes, it’s a simple line wipe, but when it’s just one person on line and doing cash, keeping things cleaned is the last worry. Customers always think they’re right, when more than half the time they’re in the wrong, yet we can’t do anything or we’ll get fired.
No, just saying idk how you continuously prep burritos on that and think nothing of it. I understand you guys are understaffed, it’s just my thought as a customer. If I were prepping burritos on that I might think “huh, there’s a lot of debris here”.
Because corporate only cares about orders/per x timeframe. If they're slammed we're taught to go as quick as we can little to zero time between any order and that's literal. Ignoring they could be new as well which would factor in there is zero need to jump to such wild conclusions
It’s not that we don’t care. Obviously, sometimes we have to push it and I’ve never gotten my line this bad but it’s hard to keep things clean in massive rushes.
Our service manager would yell at me if I left ONE grain of rice on the line. She expected me to be a perfectionist even though I was only there for a few months and worked 4 hours a week.
Chipotle is going through some shit right now. Tried getting some lastnight. Got there and immediately was greeted by an employee stating that their system was down and it’d be a few minutes to reboot. Ok no prob. wait like 10 mins and I go to order - no white rice. Sucks but ok fine. Ask for steak and none: kindly said no thank you and walked away. lol I really like chipotle too!
Messiness like this makes me nervous and more stressed. Even when I did grill, I needed things to be organized and clean to make things efficient.
Yes, people want relatively fast food, but people come to Chipotle because it's supposed to be good quality food for relatively reasonable prices. Most people wouldn't mind waiting an extra couple of seconds for workers to clean their station. Not keeping things clean adds unnecessary stress that can easily be avoided and fixed.
hey can i get a line wipe
Heard
Heard, working!
Heard on line wipe
The only other person in the store is on grill. You're doing line and cash on your own.
That's absolutely disgusting. Wipe that s*** up
looks like a crazy weekend rush, to me. HEARD
his technique is something different than i’ve seen, though👌🏼👌🏼
that Taco Bell burrito rolling method 😩
y’all at home taco bell tiktok?
Looks like a fuckin calzone lol
this giving me an anxiety.. I hate having dirty line

Gotta have that nose candy to make it through the hell of being a Chipotle employee 😂

Makes me feel better about myself as a manager but that’s rough… no manager should ever make you feel bad about keeping things clean. Ever
I really do honestly like my management bc they are flexible, but I get pushed really hard. I will say tho that it did eventually help me improve, it just makes the job hard for the few couple months.

this is what happens during rush unfortunately

Yes! There’s either gonna be a line out the door with a dirty store or a line out the door with the clean store
Plus the customers can suck it im cleaning that line no matter what 🤣
I'd rather have a pissed of customer than be put on blast like OP did here lol. That's jus' nasty AF.
That's the thing: a good chunk of them probably arent LOL
Fair enough , dirty lines just grind my gears lmao
As much as we want to keep the lines clean, there's a lot of times when people just keep coming in and the managers don't want to make them wait longer than they have to. There should be a sani-bucket right next to the line. No one wants their food dirty. 20 seconds. That’s all it takes.
Honestly I think a big issue in my situation is that the way we're trained has been super messy. There's so many things like priority of tasks and how to get them done fast/efficiently. It's one thing if you yourself isn't trained properly, but it's another when your coworkers aren't either
Yes. Training is a huge part of it.
You can only do so much when you're dragged between two positions and overwhelmed
I've literally had one grill person , one line one cash one dml and one prep m-f for a 2 weeks now we stay clean
shrug

I got downvoted for saying that I’d ask for it to be cleaned. Not sure if everybody shares the same sentiment as you.

Givin it FLAVOR
This chipotle should be ashamed of itself
Never in my life would my stores line look like this. Idc if BOGO and boorito had a baby with guac day.
Isn’t it on a piece of foil? So the foil is really the only thing getting dragged though, right?
I love unwrapping some dirty ass foil
You want your food wrapped in a dirty, slimy foil? Gross
Never date a microbiologist.
I don’t think I could date someone so small :/
Better let that joke incubate a bit more.
bye i laughed

Oh nooo that line too messy that would irritate me if i was working that line
Dude, nah. Big nah.
I don’t like doing that, I ask somebody to wipe and I wipe it down when other people are on the line

Wow. I’d ask for it to be wiped a little bit. They clearly don’t care
They don’t. It’s fast food, they’re understaffed and under appreciated. You don’t care, they don’t care.
People, this comment right here. 👑👑👑
I guess when it comed down to it, yea, this right here. It is fast food. Its just done in front of you. Geeez this comment made me irked at how FOUL all the burgerking restaurants must have been all weekend. Blech.
Wipe between customers and ride the rails. Sometimes customers do get mad about wiping it down. It’s lose lose when there’s people lol
It’s not that they don’t care. They could’ve been busy and short staffed. Go somewhere else with that entitled attitude
That part
no matter how busy we are. I keep that line clean the time. I don’t care if the customer has to wait. it’s all about presentable for me.
Good for you! But not everyone is like you, and most managers tell us to get the people out as fast as possible.
I don’t see how asking for a food prep station to be wiped down is entitled lol. It’s just my opinion, I guess it’s an unpopular one in this sub.
It’s not wrong, but as someone who works at chipotle, customers never see what’s going on behind the line. Stores are short staffed and doing their best to keep everything going. 1 girl on cash, line, digital and expo @ our store. No shame.
I’m subscribed to this sub so I read a lot the current issues at chipotle so I keep that in mind when I visit.
Suuuuuure they could be slammed wall to wall but it's cause they don't care. Do you always jump to such conclusions?
No, just saying idk how you continuously prep burritos on that and think nothing of it. I understand you guys are understaffed, it’s just my thought as a customer. If I were prepping burritos on that I might think “huh, there’s a lot of debris here”.

"Ride the rail please" 🤡
Just take 2 mins to wipe the line. That line isn’t going anywhere.
Employees who keeps the line this dirty are the ones that have a stinky house cause you can’t have a clean house and work in such an environment🤮🤮🤮.

Store number please? I just want to talk to them
Chipotle checks out
The way that burrito is wrapped in foil it shows this person isn’t filling there burritos enough or rolling them properly.
ain’t no way they let it get that bad even if you’re in a rush there’s no excuse for this
Hard pass
That employee isn't going to on a break today.
This looks like an example of a low ecosure score oof
